she’s never been much of a coffee drinker
but that’s never really bothered her,
yet she always longed to be a coffee drinker
because of the way it looks and sounds.

she received a rather unusual surprise;

she doesn’t expect much from people
preferring to give, help, bless, serve,
simply her way of showing care
never expecting anything in return.

on an ordinary day at school
the whole body gathered for chapel,
she sat on the main floor left side
one seat to separate her from the aisle.

she received a rather unusual surprise;

suddenly he drops into the seat next to her
tan skinned missionary boy from Kenya,
starter on the men’s soccer team
the one that all the girls have their eye on.

she’s never felt that way about him
what a joke to think he’d even consider her,
for they’re not even close friends
and she’s only helped him with New Testament once.

she received a rather unusual surprise;

quietly shifting to face her in the darkened chapel
he gives her a cup from the shop down the road,
cream colored containing a milk chocolate mocha
explaining it was his way of showing thanks.

and seconds later he was gone
leaving coffee in hand and warmth in her heart,
doing something her closest friends never do
reaching out to say thank you.
felt special that someone who is just a friend would choose to thank me by surprising me with coffee (even though i don't drink coffee, haha).
wondering if this is what it's like to have a boyfriend, someone to randomly surprise you with little things and show they appreciate you...

Every once in a while
Every one of us should
Take time out to give thanks for
All in our lives that is good,
To truly appreciate
Just how well off we all are;
How really we have it great,
Could be much worse off by far!
I just want to make my parents proud
I just want to make my sister proud
I just want to make my family proud
I just want to make my managers proud
I just want to make my friends proud
I just want to make my teachers proud
I just want to make my future companion proud
I want them to feel like they knew someone of substance and a bright future
That it was worth all the time
They put in
To create an artful craft that needed to be nurtured and helped
Just so you know, I'm working on it
Its going to be hard to be the best
Its going to be hard to destroy the expectations and make them even higher
But Lord knows I got it
I got him
I got you bro
I got you sista
I got you stranger
Your time will be worth it, I promise I won't falter
I will do what it takes to sour
Thank you for everything y'all have done
I'm no longer undone
Now, let's have some fun

Never should children have to know
How much to their parents they owe.
Although when they reach adulthood
Know, without being told, they should.
How parents give to us so much,
How grateful we should be for such.
Whether passed on or living yet,
Ne'er should we our parents forget.

There's nothing quite like
Being appreciated
For something that you've done,
When your own words strike
You as overrated,
Childlike and dumb.
Thanks to everyone who reads, likes and shares my poetry :-)

I wear my crazy on the outside and my genius on the inside.
I wear many masks.
My love is true.
Only the faithful have the key
To open up my mind.
Only they who understand
Can render benefit.
I bask in your glow.
I am only who I am because of you.

Thanks for it.
I did a series of brief poetry. Some I will share with Hellopoetry.com. I tweaked this a little for continuity of style after I had already posted it.
An ode to appreciation
______________
Each day, our men and women in law enforcement gear up.
They prepare for the day ahead
But how can they know
What the day might bring?
And as they get ready for their day,
They must mentally prepare for the emotional warfare they will once again face.
They prepare to say that final goodbye to their families, should the day turn into their last.
Each officer faces these fears.
They face death, harm, disrespect, and threats, but yet they keep coming back.
On the news, we only see the negative side of law enforcement,
And yet, we do not acknowledge the good things officers do for us citizens every day.
Appreciation has turned to become socially unacceptable.
Is it just me that see’s something wrong here?
They gear up for us.
For our country.
For our people.
For our families.
They train for disasters, for tragedies.
They were there for 9/11
They did what they had to do.
We thanked them then.
But where are we now?
Where do our respects lie?
They give their life, they give their time
But yet, they are not recognized for giving their lives.
Recently, my family visited the Aurora Police Department’s memorial for the officers that had fallen in the line of duty.
The area was empty.
No one was there.
It was like I could hear their voices in the wind.
Like the feeling of an unexpected guest.
I felt as if it was my duty as a citizen to read their story, which had been put on the wall with honor.
I wish I could personally thank all the men and women who had given their lives for our country.
I wish I could convey my gratitude.
But the truth is, they’ve past on.
And the sad part is, people have forgotten their names.
True, its hard to account for every single person in Colorado who had given their lives,
But was there even any attempt from us citizens?
Did you know that approximately 270 officers have fallen in the line of duty in Colorado alone?
69 of those 270 officers were from our very own Denver.
That leaves 201 other officers from various parts of Colorado.
Denver’s fallen officers have contributed approximately 25% of fallen officers in Colorado.
Most names of Denver’s fallen officers will not be recognized.
But, I feel I should thank them anyway.
Thank you, Celena Hollis.
Thank you, David Roberts.
Thank you, Donald Young.
Thank you Dennis Licata.
These four gave their lives to Denver citizens in the last decade.
These four heroes gave their life so we could feel safe at night.
So we could live in peace, and in happiness
If it is a crime to be grateful,
Then call me guilty.
These people are not just ordinary.
They gave their lives for you and me.
They sacrificed their life, for us to see
That we matter.
I don’t believe they do their job for the paycheck,
I believe they do it so our town does not become a wreck.
More and more, disrespect becomes common.
And somehow, more and more officers fall.
More officers don’t live to tell the story.
That’s heartbreaking.
Call me delusional.
But I believe in change
Because
Appreciation can go a long way.
This generation is losing respect.
It’s losing morality.
But it can all change.
It can change before our generation crashes.
It must change.
Please take these words and make something out of them.
Please make these words hold meaning.
I can’t be the only one to want these people to live.
To come home another day.
Thank you, to the men and women in service who may be here today.
Thank you to the military, To law enforcement, To medical EMTs, To our firefighters,
And to everyone here who cares about the wellbeing of this country.
Thank you.
just to say thank you

Left alone
After you said you would never go
Thanks, I know how much I'm worth
Just a couple ******* hundred lies
Over cigarettes and other girls
Thanks for the reassurance
That my existence means absolutely no **** to you
Thanks for the inspiration
To do what I should have years ago

If not for your blood,
We could have won easily,
Such minnows you are.

You saved our Holi,
Losing yesterday's match,
Which was a thriller!!!
Bangladesh lost to India in a thriller which India almost lost yesterday on 23rd of March 2016.

Had India lost the match, entire festival of Holi would be ruined.
