Those come before
Were training wheels
And those after
A lesson in purpose

And now, I can say
There is love, where
Only despair and
Disdain once grew

Soul mates can mean
Many things, perhaps,
And I'm sorry if
This applies to you:

We could have been
But you were never
Quite ready for
More than just yourself

I want impossible things.
I just want to make you believe.
But I’m hardly even here.
And day will always break.
And pay checks don’t make themselves.
And I hate how much I love people
That humble my tiny fears.
I’ve rattled the gates at the top of your driveway in the cold of night,
Waiting for you to open,
Too many times.
I say I get taller by breaking down,
But quietly I wish we both believed in the same religion.
So we could stop arguing about it.
So you could think I was a genius.
So you could bask in it all like I did.
But I digress,
I learn to say.
I’ll learn to pray
Another way.

Out walkin in the moon light, out away from the fire light.
Feelin kinda bored with life, wonder if there's more to life.
Thinkin if the time was right, how to play my cards just right.
It was a starry night, you should have seen the stars that night.
It was marvelous, as I stood there starved of breath.
It was hard to catch, but otherwise it was marvelous.

The moon amidst
the celebrations of stars
still in its proverbial stance
only the eye no fingers!

If there ever a moment of flower
let it be today the rose
in the tips of the fingers!
Tired of his pirates life
He flew off to the stars
And found joy
In the arms of a supernova.

She was his stars
                                                                                            He was her moon
                                      Both lighting up the night.
He wished but never had hope
She had faith but lacked conviction
Neither one had been fully sincere.
He withdrew from the light
She was lost in the fog
The moon and stars gradually evanesced
                                 Until only darkness remained.
I sooner learned that stars burn as quickly as they are born.

Forever intertwining for eternity, echoing into the unknown.

But one day I finally understood.

No matter how far we traverse.

No many how many times we break in a sense we will always be as we are.

Leaving pieces of each other behind in everything.

Building our life and leaving behind pieces of ourselves, merging and breaking like little stars.

Making our own constellations.
