American barcodes
All sit with a grin.

American barcodes
Can’t you see my skin?

American barcodes
I’m wearing my mask.

laughing til we cried
four hour high
climbing through windows
for a skyline view
summer was dying
magic was chaining memories
in a captivating stare
engulfed in warm air

today is your birthday
a bittersweet refrain
my skin chilled by frost
skies cloaked in gray
longed to reach out
but had nothing to say

every syllable
a dance from your lips
echoes within these walls
tenderly grips
wrapped in a memory
like a gift bestowed
kept where they belong
a soulful song
the sound of the rain
hugged our memories as i cuddled the pain
shivering in anxiety; wrapped in blankets of your shadow
touching the most fragile parts of me in sorrow.

the sound of thunder
travelled in reverse like how our always turned to never
and in the rolling of silent roars, I look for your sweet voice
as if it's the cleanest noise, and yours is the only choice.

the sound of the wind
whispered all the could've been, all our would've been
caressing your skin the way i should’ve held you close like it’s a sin
my love, can you help me comprehend?

Snakes won't cross a braided rope,
so I take the leads up from around my bed.
I remember her face-
bright and
smiling beside mine
white as if she had just shed a skin
and the dunes grow now over the urchin barrens,
a desert in the sea.
I can peer beneath the 3rd lid
my heart claws at my throat,
allergy tight from the judging shade of
green.
The 3rd lid opens over the Taklamakan,
Tibetan horns sound so old -
ancient vagus nerve endings in my throat but my heart claws them away.
Snakes won't cross a braided rope but
her eyes are green and we lay a
cottonmouth skin across her womb.
All I see are diamonds on the ring fingers.

who set the temperance in the square-faced clown
he was dancing and strolling and roaming around
he was scary, he was strange, he was really quite large
no one knew how he got there but he came out in charge
his hair was was chaotic, his skin an orange hue
he wanted to tell stories, all of which were not true
his stay should be over, in that fact we hope
the square-faced clown, it appears is a hoax....
