A moment in time is
Subtle
and minute.

It is uncountable and unclear,
yet
it is powerful.

It exists at an intersection
of intimacy and fear.

And those who share it,
are aware of themselves,
and what a moment means.

It means
Everything.

lust is powerful
it always consumes the mind
dominating thoughts

Love is the smell of spoiled milk:
even after you're rid of it,
it still lingers in your space of
solace.

Love is persistence
and dedication
even when your best is dismissed,
and your worst is worshiped.

Love is when you can't breathe because you're afraid of stealing someone else's last.

Love is not like -
love is more powerful
than a single syllable;
you should feel the power in every letter.

Love is the word your shoulder Angel sings
that makes you calm;
Love is the word your shoulder Devil
blames for the demons frolicking in your head.

Love is liquid;
it takes the form of something solid
until it eventually spills over.

Love is the understanding
between the sun and the moon -
Though they exist all at once,
they share the sky
so the other can shine.

Love is limitless;
I don't waste time trying to count stars.

we do not have to beg and plead
to meet with our Gods in mosques and temples.
holy isn’t the space between stone pillars and walls -
holy is the absolute power of our ***,
holy is the space between our legs.
we do not have to hide and disguise
the pain of a hundred muscles writhing and twisting
and sneak into warm kitchens to feed cold stomachs
after hours;
a pounding heartbeat
marking every second stolen to steal food
from a home that is just as rightfully ours.

we do not have an obligation to remain
a glassy lake that lies still throughout the storm,
pleasing every passerby with a picture of themselves;
the narcissists and egotists can go straight to hell.
we do not have to cut our lips on our teeth
by setting our default response to a ‘yes’
when every cell in our bodies unite to protest.

we do not have to pretend to smile at the
uninvited embraces of unwelcome hands and eyes.

because no holy man in a holy temple that exiles women
deserves to rub his filthy hands over the valleys and mountains
of goddesses cast in stone,
and no tradition can lead to the starvation
of a woman who has to bleed if she is to live.
lakes do not stay serene in a storm, they do not surrender;
they bend over backwards and swallow the horror.

you see?
we do not
we absolutely do not
have to
need to
or be forced to
do anything at all -
unless we
really, really
want to.

Hurting hearts,
Alone in angry ashes,
Timed threats,
Raging wrath,
Earnest easment.
Demons are demanding destruction and demolition.
So I found my poems from 10th grade. They are so powerful. They all had themes because I used them for a project. I'll label them in the tags. I entitled the series "Six Versions of One So-Called Life"
Keeping positive is hard for me
I do what I'm good at not best at
A shadow of the man I used to be
I say what I think, not mean, I get that
Words are powerful things to see
Hear, ignore, twist and use to interact
I'm not worthy of my vocabulary
Wasting away talents I didn't choose
My life is like this poem, not necessary
Off track and has no real use
...
"If my life was a piece of tapestry, words would almost definitely be the threads to form this picture."
Quote is my own.

The sun kissed your features,
As if its light knew no other home,
As if its illumination existed solely for you.
The sun bowed to you.

The wind rustled your hair,
Your jade eyes beamed with radiant youth.
Nothing chained us at that moment,
The world was the canvas for our brush.

Your long fingers intertwined with mine,
I turned your face to place a kiss there.
You had warmed my insides,
Taught me to command my own fate.
