I have no taste for whiskey,
although it seems over the years
I have developed a proclivity for cancer,
for building the nacre into  pearl.

It’s funny how one can live with death
scooted to the borders, listening to it
rap the door with sub-audible gusts
that only your dog hears and barks at.

The holy trinity, my wife calls it,
three masses on the left, right,
concluding down in a ****** triangle,
a parasite, a dark natural beauty of my years.

The bad genes of my parents play out their divorce
in my body, diabetes and cancer
fighting for the claim to death’s victory,
my only peace being to cut them both out.

The Great Physician puts my cure
in the hands of fallible demigods,
whose inclination is to bury hope in the
condolences of the other well-intentioned masses.

“It’s great that you feel no pain,
Your color looks good today,” they echo
as the pallid tv weatherman I met
in ruddy years on the brown river shuffles by.

The nacre of the cancer ward-
an open shirt skeleton on oxygen,
two old black men  talking loudly
about seasons of diagnosis and mistreatment,

just waiting, waiting, waiting to get better
caws at me as I make my way
to the reception table just bright enough
to not seem an open casket.

My wife fills out three pages asking
for family obituaries while I answer
on a tablet forty questions about death,
five about life, two about insurance.

I wait in quiet sitting in a clinical green chair
Listening  for my name to be called,
thinking not about the culled pearl
but the beautiful oyster thrown way.

The  raindrops nourishing the earth
Make a piece of memorize appear
Make of prayers are answered
Make of sadness was evaporated

The pearl from the  sky come on
To kissed my soul with her aromatic smelled
To kissed of wilted flowers
All Glory be to Allah

The pearl from the sky come on
To gave water for thirsty trees
To taught me of  "passionate"
Although she was  falling
She never complain and always coming
All Glory be to Allah

Dew drops
Whispering to starlight
Secrets
Never told
A  small girl
With hair like fire
By a lake
With water like the night sky
Emerald frogs
Ruby roses
Crystal violets
And a pearl moon
All of this
Could be hers
But she just wants
To make friends with the fireflies

The Clam bedecked with candles
Fourteen nights to open her jaw;
An unattainable jewel she dangles.
High above humanity's greedy maw.
Simple riddle.
I am the flower of untouched perceptibility, the unique breed nobody could ever find in any imposing gardens. Do not chase to haunt me and the richness of my petals’ sap if you are not a holy breed of spirit as I might wither and get my seeds of knowledge scratched in your unjust volition. I am the pearl, the mermaid chain of blushing moon tides.

It may be only
a little pearl.
But someone
reached out to it
peeping in the giant sea.
Lunar Feb 2019
washed ashore
onto the hands
of a man
I longed for, dearly.

rugged touch,
tarnished shine
and value,
treasured so merely.

back to home
seeking warmth
in the waters; on land
I was misguided, nearly.

then I knew
it was the sea
whom I belonged to
and who loved me so clearly.
dear lj, thank you for being my sea and finding me.

You were broken
   I was too
and I took my time listening to you
for I thought it would help me too

   we shared our thoughts
   and talked about it

Wrote a poem of the beauty of your chaos
the undying strength of your resolve

         time flew by
         as days has passed

                    we talked about the moon
                    with coffee in hand

months have past and we were going strong
even though there's no label on what we are

but one day you just disappeared
without a trace

              I was left searchin
for you and the feeling of you

Few months again
I received a poem and
I know its you

was devastated for I cant reply
        for the stranger also left
        without a sound
        just the poem
        saying goodbye.
Pearl Im very sorry. I want to hug when we meet again, I know we will. In my time and when Im in control. So that I will be brave enough to hold you close!

I'm a commodity
most cannot afford

every piece of me
is expensive

my eyelashes,
draped in gold

my teeth,
molded of pearl

my heart,
cut from ruby

my hands,
spun into silk

my hair,
a waterfall of bronze

every step I take is glamorous, elegant, enchanting

beauty was born
into me
