I want to tell y'all a story
About a man named McCrory
Made a law about who can use what *****
The rest of the world thinks he is dotty
This man is a bigot
Can you dig it?
North Carolina really wonders
How he could make so many blunders
But soon we will make him pay
When we throw him out on Election Day!
As a transgender woman living in North Carolina, this perfectly sums up my feelings about the heinous HB-2.
March 23, 2016 will forever live in infamy.

something told the wild geese it was time to go
as the soft breath of winter slowly fades away
beneath their wings it whispers "no more snow"

the chill of winter days has now gone
across mountain tops and fields of gold
the song of geese carries a distance tone

high up in the clear crystal blue skies
velvet clouds gives way to the sunshine
in V-shape form North wild geese flies

the geese call with the wind it's blown
check marking their flocks flight location
notifying relatives they're headed home

You've got a twinkle in your eye,
one I really can't describe.
Yet your laugh shines so bright
it reminds me of the stars in the night sky.
Maybe it's because you feel so out of reach.
I could be asked to wish upon a star,
yet I'd think about you.
You're like my North Star.
You guide me.
I'm not sure what lies ahead,
and that alone is overwhelming most nights.
But my certainty clings to the fact that
I know my future will be bright,
so long as you stay in it.

This is old as hell but I apparently never posted it. So here, while I have my writers block, take this.
Not sure how I feel about it still. Rip.

Pouring rain,
Heavy hearts,
Human minds.

Falling down,
I remind,
You of me.

Puddling,
In the streets,
Of Aberdeen.

Scottish eyes,
Over me,
The North Sea.

Split apart,
Come to meet,
Locally.

Heavy clouds,
Pouring in,
Out of me.

Would you ever,
Meet with me,
In Aberdeen?

Be as one,
We would be,
Don and Dee.
Real place - Can't wait - I wish :D

The sun
it burns
my eyes
my skin

Like a long lost love,
our reunion
bittersweet

Winter above
the Mason-Dixon line
simply spells defeat

Back down south I'll go
& I'll take my bare feet!

Written after it snowed more during the first week of April than it had all winter...thankfully the chill has now moved on!

I can't look at other girls without seeing your face
and the space it fills up while spilling the waste
of a bad days taste left stale on my tongue
while you clean it with yours, cupid's arrow is plunged
inside of my heart as it's strung onto yours,
a zipline to glide on and slide in your core.
I look to my compass, your smile is north,
when the sun goes down, it shines even more.
And scorn from jealousy the sun may just mourn,
but returning to you from the darkest of storms.
So if ever I get lost in this great big world,
my home I will find from your lips when they curl.

I leaned on the rail, stared through
my mental zoom and wondered.
Were ther footprints in the sand
of that island to the windward?

No sign of man. Startled cliff caves
gaped at us, seagulls dived at us,
while whales schooled us and led us away.
We passed by and the North Channel sighed.

Now it's just a floater in my eye,
a landscape's distant daub of grey-green,
a mystery mote that still returns,
but I pass by praising Gaia.

Come up north to see the great outdoors
Rolling hills
Scenes leaving you wanting more
Never mind the weather
Whether its rain or shine
Grab a pint
Sit down
And enjoy our way of life

Born and bred northern boy
But no flat cap or corduroys
Yorkshire til the day I die
I'll represent that West Yorks sign
Faithful to my northern life
Faithful to my northern rhyme
Brought up well with northern vibes
Through hard times, miners strike
Times when maggie thatcher tried
to stir up **** with lies designed
Got miners and police to fight
But don't believe that southern hype...
Those brutal battles gave us life
It redefined our future times
Redefined our future lines
Redefined the northern kind
Redefined our northern humour
Redefined our northern style
Tourists come from far and wide
to find out what the North is like
Expecting lack of cultured life
Surprised we're not uncultured swines
Rewarded with our northern minds
Our northern ways
Our northern lives

Come up north to see the great outdoors
Rolling hills
Scenes leaving you wanting more
Never mind the weather
Whether its rain or shine
Grab a pint
Sit down
Enjoy our way of life
Where I'm from

If I could lay in silence all night
This would be the place
In the middle of North Carolina
With the moonlight shining upon my face.

Listening to the trees talk their secrets
And the stars shining so bright
Yes, if I could have it my way
I would be out here every night.

I would clear my mind and pack a bag
Kiss my dad goodbye on the cheek
For tomorrow he will return to California
And you will find me dancing amongst the leaves.

Next to the river along a county road
Under the willow tree
Yes, if I could have it my way
This is where I'd always be.
The sun shines
All the roses
Grow through the dark green pines
I raise my hand from the cold snow
You ask "What can I do for you?"
As your crescent smile began to grow
Oh, what a wonderous feeling
Th e cold kisses my face
As I'm on my knees kneeling
She laughs
With the sweet smell of wine fills the air
All around us grass is eaten by all the young calves
The sky blue as the tiny flowers
Why, you helped me up
Even through the final hours
It's all the rage
Back in my home
Full of trampled sage
She said "Don't you worry
Please don't cry inside
Because life goes forward, so why hurry?"
So we lived through life real slow
'Till the tress grew round
As we just go with the flow
The waves slink back and forth
In front our tired eyes
The moon hangs above towards North
Just say you love me
And kiss me all over
Please hug me closely
Love is worth more than a dime
So please be with me?
It doesn't rain all the time
For my wife <3
