I never liked being alone
I found comfort in the sounds of you
The deck of cards you kept in your pocket
And the coffee you left on the kitchen table
I never minded cleaning up your messes
I never minded the fact you loved Jazz
And fell asleep to the sound of an alto saxophone
But i never needed you
Like i need air
I wanted you
I am not a fragile butterfly
And you will not tear my wings
I used a "weird prompt" for this because writers block.

169: Random Things
Use some or all of these items in your story or poem:
A *** of rice
A butterfly
An alto saxophone
A deck of cards
Two performers debating on a quirky time capsule stage

Evaporating the barriers of time with their improv

As the spectators breathe life into their routine with no turmoil
Inspired by two hilarious costumed actors I met at the Preston Hall Museum today.

This also happens to be one of my first few sijo poems thanks to Tees Achieve's Creative Writing course.

Oh I wish,
Wish I could be greater than this
All of me
Is less than all that you need...
And I,
I want to live for what's good
But sometimes,
Sometimes it's harder than it should.
So I'll,
I'll be waiting for you
To show me,
Show me how to love what's true.
All alone in a big room
I could let my voice travel all the way to you
Wish I had the key
To open the door to eternity
And see
If you're next to me
Any way it goes,
I know it's hardly anything I could hope.

It's such the contradiction
the way you make me feel
like the earth has drunk
the whiskey,
the sun's sober spill.
Tilted on my axis,
weaker in my knees
I don't exactly grasp
the spell you put on me.
You sedate me oh so smoothly,
like ***** in a glass,
My morning mug of coffee,
you keep me clear, fast.
like clockwork, your lips find mine,
and my heart is in your hand
sober and intoxicated
just like you had planned
