Your kisses are a bite of tangerine,
Sweet and refreshing.

Your eyes are an eclipse,
Gold and magnificent.

Your laugh is sunshine,
Bursting through dark gray clouds.

Your love is a river,
Beautiful and overflowing;
A night sky,
Infinite and full of light.

I saw shadows dance
Synchronized madness
Bereft of definition
Colors and forces melding
For a moment, the polars met
A very brief eclipse
Today the Irish people witnessed an eclipse in their senses. The morning came over all queer.  Nobody noticed, except the king of bookworms in the book of Kells, and the mice in the Campanile.   I witnessed the eclipse from a windowless room on the 4th floor of the Arts block.  Edmund Spenser's poem, The Faerie Queene,  shall henceforth be named, Long ****, by jury of 5 English Lit. Students and a Lecturer.  Also, Sinn Fein plans to build Jerusalem in Ireland's green and pleasant land.

Lines written last night over a cup of sugary tea in a public house in North Dublin.
All week I look forward to seeing you,
The moment when light goes dark,
When it seems as if the world is in shadow.

I looked for you yesterday and what a sight!
I mean I didn't see you...
But those clouds that hid you away were magnificent!
Just saying it how it is haha

"Who is this goddess?" Whispered the sun,
As the moon traversed the sky,
"This angel, silent as a nun,
This silver dragonfly?"

He moved in for a closer gaze,
His heart began to speed,
As through a misty, cloud-spun haze,
He watched the moon proceed;

Soft silver tresses graced her brow,
Her dress, mother-of-pearl,
billowed like sails on a dream-ship's prow,
or curved tsunami-swirl.

"Oh Lady Moon" murmured the sun,
"I burn, I swoon for you.
"Come let me kiss you, gentle one,
Before night passes through."

"Come languish in my warming arms,
To music of nightjars,
Come let me taste those subtle charms,
Dear lady of the stars."

"Ah, do not court frivolity"
He heard the moon reply.
"My purpose is to steer the sea
And yours to light the sky;"

"Why, if I languished here with you,
Tall ships would run aground,
And you must light each day anew
Or all nature confound."

The sun-god would not be deterred,
But kissed her trembling lips.
As they embraced, no sound was heard
Throughout the first eclipse;

Waves lay as mirrors where they kissed,
Until they drew away,
To drift back into heaven's mist,
As night melted to day.
Written 2003, sharing here because of the eclipse earlier today.

The Sun loved the Moon
With a love so bright
It lit up the entire sky,
And when they were close
In those brief seconds
As day turned into night
The color that rushed
To her cheeks
Set the horizon on fire.

In the stillness of that moment,
The whole world could feel
The warmth of her affection
For the one she would wait
Earth ages for
To glow, at last, as one
In the light of an eclipse,
If only for
A little while.

He smiles.
His future is thought out.
His favorite color is yellow.
He can speak Spanish.

I frown.
My future is a mystery.
My favorite color is black.
I speak only English.

He's talented. I'm worthless.
He's a charmer. I'm a repellent.
He's hardworking. I'm spoiled.
He cherishes. I push away.

Can our opposites really attract?
Maybe in one way.
Fore he is the light that brightens my darkness.
But I shall not be the darkness that destroys
his light.

1.
He sings
And burns in his old age
Raging against an ever so slowly
Dying light
Slowly laying to sleep
seemingly quiet, across a frozen horizon.

2.
She in an intermittent flow
Heals, and brings about a glow
With bonds of cold ice
Illuminating everything that is
until she too lies
In a deep sleep

3.
Now against
An eternally never ending frontier
Of circling dreams, collapsing
At the discovery of receding howls
And a charred sea of amber light

4.
These two inch towards each other
Ever so slightly, ever so slowly
Until they soon meet
And hold at each other
At what is a perfect
Complete, connecting
Eclipse.
The man in the moon
has a big conundrum
cause he can't always talk
to his good friend the sun
for he is tucked away,
kept out of sight,
for when the suns out
the moon sees the night.

There once was a time
he was part of the earth,
till a comet collided
for all it was worth.
The earth was surprised
with the immediate shock
and the loss of a massive,
great big piece of rock.

That great piece of rock,
far off it did zoom
from big brother earth,
now the man in the moon.
Every time
the sun comes to play,
the moons bigger brother,
'the earth's,' in the way.

His brother of course,
will pass messages on
but it isn't the same
as a chat with the sun.
But once in a while
the moon he can mix
with his good friend the sun
in a total eclipse.

When part of the earth
he saw the sun once a day
till that comet then crashed
and sent him far away.
But somehow they managed
their friendship to fix
and all with the help
of the total eclipse.

They get to catch up,
but not for too long
for they soon take there places,
go home where they belong.
The total eclipse
is a lifeline that ends
but for a short time it helps
puts together two friends
There is always a way to keep a friend!
