I think cats have 6 senses
No, make that 7

1. Touch
2. Smell
3. Taste
4. Sight
5. Hearing

6. Emotion
7. Comfort

Yes, I think cats are the best animals
when it comes to intuition like that

They come to you planning nothing more than a mew or two
and when you break
They stay
right by your side
to roll onto their sides and let you touch their tummies
                                            (something they'd normally never do)
to stretch their backs and lovingly swat at your sweaty crying face
                                            (something they'd normally never do)
to careen their necks and allow you to stroke their ears
                                            (something they'd normally never do)
to raise their hinds and beg for you to hold them
                                            (something they'd normally never do)
purring the whole time

Yes, I think cats are the best animals
because unlike dogs, who love too easily and all the time
(something I'm far too familiar with)
their love is reserved
for just the right time
when you need it most

And you know it's genuine
When it's love from a cat.
A little something for my cat who always seems to know when I need to cry and never judges me for it. Plus they don't talk so all the better, something humans don't seem to understand.

Shall I call you “Bruno”?
Shall I call you “Beano”?
What is in a name?
Are they not the same?
Both have world-wide fame.
Names are just a game.
You are very happy
Whate’er your name may be.
Paw tapping on the phone;
Teeth gnawing on a bone;
Dancing around the room -
Lovely flowers in bloom;
Watching TV cartoon;
Mesmerised by the moon...
A rose smells just as sweet,
Whatever name you tweet.

I wish that the first time I spoke to you,
I had one hand wrapped around the leather strap
tethered to my dog's collar,
instead of leaving her home to worry
and allowing my hands the
freedom to tear myself apart in
front of you
because finally tearing myself down
felt like a wonderful thing to do.

I wish I'd had her with me
because she has always been
the one more likely to trust her gut
and warn people like you to stay away.

I wish I'd had her with me,
because I know that she would not
have let you take a single step towards me
even if I wanted to let you close.

I still remember the way you would
sweat nervously
at the thought of my hanging around with
my friends who did not like you.
If you were so worried about them,
I am sure you would have been all the more
terrified of her.
Not because she would bite you,
not because she is dangerous.
But because she is not fooled as easily as me.
She would have sensed the danger,
pulling me farther away
than was comfortable for you to imagine.

I say this not to be cruel,
but rather to speak out loud
a thought which has
fluttered through my mind all day,
the corners of my lips curved
in my own quiet amusement.

My dog wouldn't have liked you very much.

dogs pulling at their own chains
not made to restrain but instead
made to constrict the throat
scratching and clawing at their collars
snapping at the passerby who extend a friendly palm
curling into a deep sleep under a meadow’s tree
people who try to speak up are only mocked

"MISS CAROLINE"
Humanity is rare,
in this world today,
        loyalty is bare,
just listen to what
people say! Most people seem soulless,
hearts callous.
In the woods is where, I
find renewing of my mind
                                        and
                                      spirit.
When I venture out,
I take one that is loyal,
                        trustworthy
                                 and
                                kind.
It doesn't fit well with
me that as an animal
                   she is defined.
My Miss Caroline has
more compassion
than these humans
     passing through.
She could teach the human
race; all about true humanity with
grace.
So when you've lost your way
and your head is filled with the
world's noise, then don't forget
to return to that peaceful
place with a friend...
more human than the human
race.
A friend like mine
that is loyal
until the end of time.

When i venture out,
I take one that is
loyal, trustworthy
& kind.
It doesn't fit well with me
that as an animal she's defined. ~SacredInkedBlood©
True story. My lab, Miss Caroline. Where has humanity gone to in most of our human race today?

I don't remember being 3 years old
But I do know what he was like -
A puppy, bouncing around,
A prince in his very own castle.

I vaguly remember being 6 years old
I know what he was like -
They said he was getting old for a dog
He was always grumpy, but at least he
Remembered who I was when I came,
The old king of his castle.

I remember being 12 years old
Visiting again, that Jackie
"He's an old man now", they said
He was tired sometimes
Yet he still acted like royalty in his house

I remember being 15 years old
We were on holiday together,
His owners and my family
He slept often, and was bitter in his years
And I told them,
"You know Jackie's as old as me?"
I calculated that in dog years,
He was about a hundred and five

I am 16 years old, approaching 17.
And Jackie's still here.
He's tired and he doesn't really move much from his seat.
But this is still his house as much as anyone else's.
He'd be 112 to 119.
He doesn't argue when I go to pat him now
He's calm,
Like he's got no fight left in him.
And it's funny,
I can't help but feel he might outlive me
I know he hasn't been this welcoming since we were both three.
My family friends got their dog in the same year I was born. And every time we've visisted since my 14th birthday, I've been so scared to go to their house and find out he'd died, but we went over for dinner last night and he's still kicking. My sister has a theory that small dogs live forever out of pure spite.

I wait all day,
I sleep all night.
I like to play.
I do not bite.

I'm your best friend,
I'm here for you.
I will defend
you through and through.

I have four legs.
I'm big and small.
I can be scary
or not at all.

You know me best.
I know you too.
I do what you ask.
because I love you.

When I'm older,
my life all spent,
I'll wish for more
than I could give.

For a new friend
who will love you
and be loyal
like I was to you.

Until that day,
I'll be your friend.
I will stay true,
until the end.
For all beloved pets.

Everytime I see my dog
my heart seems to clog
with this emotion we call love.
It just soars like a dove,
but if she went away,
I would not last another day.

I cannot say in dialogue
how I hope for an epilogue
that can get rid of,
or better yet shove,
this goodby that I won't let stay
and just keep it forever at bay.
I really like my dog.
