old friend again you're shining
over  the sleeping shores
around you stars like diamonds
the velvet sky is yours

you're sparkling on the sea waves
to brighten mermaids' dreams
while long forgotten magic
is reflecting in your beams

my soul longs to be with you
and flies with wings spread wide
all way through time and space
to drink your silvery light.

Black oil,
Tarnished the white sands of a paradise that is,
No longer a paradise,
Because no matter how much you try to clean it up,
It will always be a shade darker than it used to be.
Not fully regaining its color.
The thick molasses no longer holds it together,
Africa, seems broken beyond repair.

Diamonds don't shine as bright as Rihanna suggested.
Instead they glow red,
With the blood stains of the innocents,
Slaughtered for wedding rings.

Bullets...
Cutting into the flesh of my ancestors,
Like those very diamond cutting into glass,
Because what is life compared to,
A piece of rock?

There is a pseudo-melodramatic darkness that,
Echoes off of every piece of light they reflect.
Sitting only on the fingers and necks
Of the people who can afford them,
As fingers and necks were chopped and severed for them.
I am unable to identify with the cries that still manage to,
Resonate within the wind,
Apparently...
I am the only one that can hear it.
This is just a poem about something that doesn't sit well with me. No amount of time can pass that it will.

******* sprinkled with diamonds
That's life in seven syllables
Can we find the diamonds
They're so minimal
I find them in my shoes when I step on ****
and I always feel like it's not ****
But I suppose I'll keep them in my pocket until I slip off the edge into hell
My friend had a blessing and cursing sort of situation and I replied with "Life is ******* sprinkled with diamonds" and decided I should actually write it down and came up with this.

.
*foggy wet shroud
early morning haze lingers
crickets chirp with frogs

~

silver rain hangs thick
golden rays take holiday
dewdrops mix with tears

~

cherry blooms unfold
silver over petals pink
misty gray mystery

~

under foggy cloak
cherry blossoms remove doubt
mystery darkness glows

~

misty morning gray
silver over rose and thorn
diamond drops sparkle

You are so beautiful you make my eyes burn
like you are a ray of sunshine-

but I love you more under the moon

we both are marked by craters
deep blue and black under our skin

I traced your veins with my fingers
and I just want to swim in them

I don’t know how many more times
I can write about the curl of your lips
and the way your hair turns at the edges
and about your legs

and chest
oh god your chest

and your collarbones
and the tattoo on your bicep
and the freckle in your eyes
and the dark burnt edge of it all

I don’t know how many more poems I can write
about how I want to love you forever
how I want to take care of you

how much your illness does not
define you as a person of value

oh god I ******* love you

She had no best friends
nor did she have any diamonds.

@mosquitoism
"Diamonds are a girl's best friend." so they say.
