You were
My excuse
To stay awake
So late,
3AM and
Losing sleep
But still
I would wait

Now you're gone
At the feeble
Faded light
Of dawn,
And I can no longer
Justify
The shadows
Underneath
My eyes.
A P Taylor Sep 2015
Bare branches against a meagre sky
Leaves flap like birds moving by
Magpies song mute and taut
Garden chimes sadly retort

Dull light rising to steel grey cloud
Gathering with a heavy shroud
Leaves still fighting as hold
Dark dawn, presence unfold
The Wordsmith Sep 2015
She crept in through my window sill,
As fair as autumn moonlight, and as sleek as silver silk,
Her eyes they shone like summer rain,
And void they did, of all my pain,
The ruby of her lips, rivaled the roses of the morn,
And the beauty of her face, rivaled the coming of the dawn,
She crept in through my window sill, nothing she did take,
She crept in through my window sill, and my heart she did break.
Yin & Yang
Intertwined & it becomes beauty beyond imagination

Graceful, yet graceless

Yin like a elegant silhouette drifting off into the darkness of the night
It fades
As the night gently turns into dawn

Yang majestic, blazing into the sunset
It fades
As the sunset falls into darkness

Balance of creation, its cycle everlasting

Night and Dawn,
Two lovers lorn
To languish unrequited

Their fingers strain
To touch in vain,
Yet never be united

In dreams they roam
Sunrise to gloam,
Entwined till evening wakes

On mountain halls
When first:

Night falls

And then, alone:

*Dawn breaks.

They say the darkest hour
comes before the dawn
but I don't mind at all cause
you're able to cast a light
through the heat of our skin
when you're dreaming
right beside me
RL Glassman Aug 2015
O What did the night say to me
When the shades were drawn
Did they not share a tale
Right before the dawn?

Did the stars chatter
And sing with the moon?
Did the sky dance with one
Nightly time too soon?

Afraid to sleep,
we keep on working.
Afraid to sleep,
We meet the dawn
from either end.

When light comes,
its continuity calms us
and ancestors watch over us,
as we sleep in fits and starts.

Outside the kitchen door,
Señor Romero's own grapevine
says: "Buenos dias!", says
"Gracias a la vida!"

Breathe before the sunrise
Take all your time
The night's been cold and loveless
And your thoughts have been restless
One moment before you leave this town behind

So breathe before the sunrise
Study the sky
You wish you had deciphered
Promise you'll always remember
Keep this picture in a corner of your mind

So breathe before the sunrise
And say goodbye
Wait for the train that leaves at dawn
Wait for the memories to form
On blurry days forever crystallized

There are years to go before the storm
That will tell if I lost or won
Craving what only dreams can give
We are monsters, we shouldn't live

The angels' sadness live inside
The sickness of a lonely child
These eyes are mirrors that never glow
Moving in the dark down below

A thousand mourning days later
When will stone turn into paper
Blessed be the day the journey ends
Reveal so many wounds to mend

You'll find me when the world begins
With just a smile you will break in
It is a song as old as time
And we were born to find a rhyme

I have a duty to my kind
To always try and learn to fly
But here on the ground I am proud
To pay attention to the clouds
