I will build a ladder with the bodies of my enemies. A mound in the trench, as I breach the wall. The paper cities will go up in flames. Leaving the power of their ashes floating in the wind

With lies to support you
Vain you are
In your pursuit
To conquer truth
And its pinnacle

Claim the fire in your life
Call out your freedom
Capture your light

Claim the fire of new being
Call out your vision
Capture new sight

Claim the fire of your breathing
Call out your voice
Capture believing

Claim the fire of creating
Call out imagination
Capture the meaning

Claim the fire of your life
Tomorrow morning
And Tonight

Claim the passion
Claim the sparks
Claim the blaze
Claim the glow
Claim the flames

Claim the fire of your soul

I've decided
I'll conquer the world.
All that's stopping
me
is my lack of
words.
I guess
I'll find the
words
when I hold
them in my hands,
just like I plan
to hold the world.

Maybe I'll find those words, when I hold you again.

Miles apart
But cities away
Today?
A place where once we met
Some distance in time
Memories that never faded but lasted

Seemed to be?
Or meant to be a lifetime with you?
I couldn't tell!
Yet I think of you everyday
Reach out to you in every way
In ways that you might want
Not to bring you closer
But to show you love will conquer

I cried today for the first time in years
I cried today, and they were real tears
I cried not because I conquered my fears
Or because I lost all that was dear

I cried today, shedding tears like the rain
I cried today, letting go of all the pain
I cried so much, again and again
And these were tears I couldn't restrain

I cried today, cos' I finally understood me
Knowing fully well all that I could ever be
I lived in the shadows where no one could see
A prisoner to my thoughts wanting to be free

I cried today and these were tears of joy
I cried today, knowing I am a new born
A freed man, that was locked in the skin of a boy
A freed man whose life has just begun

I cried today and they were real tears
I cried today for the first time in many years

The walls can be brought down,
Rivers can be crossed and oceans sailed,
Mountains hiked and conquered,
The skies, blazed through with vengeance,

But to have you understand me,
Understand my humour and my fears,
There's no bigger conquest done.
Arturo Hernandez Oct 2014
I have in front of me
And array of striped mountains,
Slopes of undulating lines
That fill in my horizon.
There's music in the background
But all that I can hear
Is the whispers that she tells the night
In secret.
Her eyes so still,
Her gaze fixed under her eye lids,
Her lips so bare
It makes my skin long for them,
Her breaths so deep
I want to live in the space they fill.
I lay my heavy arms
And they spread along the mountains,
They have found a home.
A valley, at last,
In which to rest my burdens.

You stole my heart like it was gold
But really it was cold
And you dropped it before my coldness conquered your warmth
Before my darkness conquered your brightness
Slowly your light moved in and slowly my darkness consumed you
You lit up my world while yours was getting darker
Slowly my world turned to gold while yours turned to cold rugged iron
And when you left you took the world of gold with you
*You stole me like gold
I just made it up. Not sure where it came from.
