He can’t stand to love,
Yet he can’t stand to hate,
Afraid of exposure,
Its vulnerable weight.
So he builds up his walls,
To protect him from feeling,
Covering old wounds,
Which keeps them from healing.
And she sees he’s guarded,
Yet tries to unveil
The past he is hiding,
His secrets to tell,
Hating his walls,
But she can’t tear them down.
Wherever she is,
He just builds them around.
your fire still burns in my heart
my lungs are gasping for your air
i mourn the loss of you
vulnerably and emotionally
i scream in agony as i think of us
my heart belts hymns of you
you were always so concerned about hurting me
because you knew that one day you would rip my heart apart
and leave me too broken to be fixed by anyone else
will i ever get over you

There were days
I remembered
To put my heart on my sleeve.

The other days
I hid it
So deep inside my body
I couldn’t find it for myself.

The terror of anyone finding
Me judging me
Seemed to linger in the air
I inhaled.

Melanie
truthfully, vulnerability is like a black hole
but you take the leap
like an astronaut

so you steal her the moon
and gather the stars
and give her the world
so she'll never know loneliness
and so you can experience "love"

but she feasts on the air you breathe
releases it in to her atmosphere
and completes her universe

her planets in orbit
the stars aligned

but then she will rise as the sun
you will now know loneliness
so a song she'll sing
a reverie
of all the pain you'll feel
when she finally takes your heart away
As flames of love begin to fade
I realize you mimic someone that I used to know...

              Whom now, I don’t remember.
Just feels kind of wrong when time tends to make you forget someone you thought you couldn’t go a second without.
No
Whatever you ask,
I can’t help but say yes.
You wouldn’t understand if I told you.
You wouldn’t feel the same way I do.
So I cover it up,
hoping you won’t notice.
For once
Let me say,
“No.”
