last night's skirling winds
swirled with a forceful spin
trees were left bowing
the sky on this day
shows a wintry shade of grey
dismal its display
the vulpine duopoly*
did skew terrific results
for their monopoly

they've been so bullish
in fashioning such great ends
*it is quite freakish
in a hot bedroom
bonfires of desire heat up
to a fever pitch
the narow river
slowly snaked a passage
through the wooded glen
volleys of thunder*
rolled across eve's dark sky
*announcing rain's call
elms in the front yard
have started to exhibit
autumn's amber hues
winter's naked trees
shall soon be clad in leaves
dressing for spring days
o'er the black sea sky
the bright silvery moon sailed
throughout the long night
a faint pencil line
marks dusk's far off horizon
in day's curtain close
gladly the birds sing
though skies be so drably lit
their trill resilient
yellow breasted wrens
bobbed neath the clothesline
seeking some grass seed
before the hail storm
a sound akin to a train
roared in the air
the sky this very day
did don a cape of dull grey
so drab the display

by morrow's morning
there'll be a brighter dawning
with sunlight spawning
as intense sunlight
cut through the forest's canopy
it left dappled shade
minute dewdrops clung
onto the tall grass blades
earlier this morning
along the shoreline
the lovers slowly walked
on that moonlit night
day draws to an end
a half crescent sun lies o'er
the western sky line
at Glasgow's altar
green zealots offer prayers
for carbon cut backs
a soft autumn breeze
tickled the daisies petals
with is finger tips
timely falls of rain
now quench the dry countryside
with a damp blessing
a convoy of trucks
thundered down the main drag
of our small township
a heavy sheet of frost
draped over our township
earlier this morning
a low flying crow
eyed pumpkin seeds lying
in Helen's backyard
the sun has gone down
on the last days of the run
ending all her fun
blustering winds blow
with vigor across the plains
stirring dust plumes
bright sunlight splinters
cut slender pathways down to
the vale's dim lit floor
she arrives dressed
in effervescent color
she's spring's rainbow girl
horse tail clouds drifted
across the blue parchment sky
this dazzling spring day
after days of heat
the countryside had baked dry
like a burnt biscuit
on the grass blades
tiny glass dewdrops closely clung
to reflect rainbows
the vast sky glisters*
with millions of pinholes
on this clear bush night

we are fortunate
who view such a bright display
*its brilliance so grand
her bloom smells e'er sweet
yet when she turns into fruit
there's a bitter taste
stars are appearing
in the expansive bush skies
each one twinkling bright
many dappled shadows
played on the forest's floor
as light winds did blow
as last vestiges
of sun reclined westward
the day light dimmed
through magenta clouds
dazzling shards of eve sunlight
did cleverly cut
blustering south winds
have blown constantly all eve
they're packing some speed
at her breast the baby
suckled with much contentment
the milk of sweet life
murderous war fiends
pleasure in lethal pursuits
they know not of pity
amid sparkling stars
sailed a luminous moon
chartering night seas
lulling soft droplets
fell upon the old tin roof
slumbering my eyes
with temps being so high
a body swelters in the heat
there is no reprieve
yellow daises bloom
on my dried out back lawn
yet bees reap pollen
dark heavy brows of clouds
hang over the western hills
they indicate rain
innate in the embryo
is a universal note
of endless promise
a hint of autumn
pervaded the morning's air
twas cooler in feel
spring's vibrant colours
emerge from winter's cocoon
to show festive blooms
soon we'll say goodbye
to winter's boreal order
of freezing disdain
as twilight drew nigh
the last frail bird calls of day
floated on eve's breeze
