Race Horse Owner's Capers
an inquiry has been called
into the Mungindi Cup
the horse that won it
had his galloping speed hurried up

evidently the horse had been administered
some sort of enhancement
which assured that he ran
with better advancement

the stewards of the racing club
were rather suspicious
as the horse's racing ability
was far too auspicious

the police are looking into
this strange state of affairs
it wasn't possible for the old nag
to run with such dashing flair

in our region horse racing
has been dealt a shocking blow
and it's fine reputation
has sunken very low

once the inquiries findings
are published in the newspapers
we'll all be informed
of the race horse owner's capers

The Neighbour's Fox Terrier
the neighbour's fox terrier
has taken to chasing me
a couple of days ago
I was walking to the car-shed
and when he sighted me
pursuit was firmly in his head
my walking gait
changed
to a very fast run
so he'd not bite me
on the leg
before I go outside
I take a three sixty look around
and see if the coast is clear

Nakedness (Humorous Poem)
why don't we all do the primal thing
take off our clothes and reveal everything
not a stitch of clothing did Neanderthal folk ware
they allowed their naked bodies to breath the air

nudist colonies are the last bastion of bare skin
the people at these places never fail to grin
without dresses and pants they are a happy crew
all of them putting their kit out on view

it is a norm for us to take in the sunshine whilst bare
and a law should be passed to permit this fair
we've been overly wrapped in fabric for years
no wonder we've been without any cheer

the straight laced may not be too keen on ******
but may I remind them it is such a liberty
shedding the coats and petticoats wont do any harm
and showing a little of our bodies isn't cause for alarm

our forebears of a by gone era were not glad
they ran around in the buff and never did anything bad

oh come sing a song
one with a sweet melody

sing your song of flowers
adorning the meadow's lea
sing of their pretty colors
so mirthfully

oh come sing a song
a song for me
oh come sing a song
one with a sweet melody

sing your song of rainbows
arching the skies in lovely canopies
sing of their joyous hues
in a tone so happy

oh come sing a song

the woes they couldn't

the woes were never

so too the trolls on

I looked in the mirror
and what did I see
an old wrinkly face
looking back at me

over the past ten years
I've aged quite considerably
my looks aren't as pretty
as they once used to be

the mirror has told me
there is a lot of loose skin
and I have developed
a substantial double chin

my youthful ****** features
have completely disappeared
the signs of haggardness
are even present on my ears

from this day forward
I'll hold no more mirror consultations
as the truth that it expresses
causes much irritation

Lethal Armories
the military industrial complex
are making a killing
the arms trade
is a profitable business
billions are harvested
by the grey suited men
the war machine
supplies deadly payloads
collateral damage
always yields such a tidy sum
why interrupt or put paid
to a great earner
the balance sheet
must be in the black
production lines
busy filling orders
each day
the bullet
the bomb
the drone
sold to effectively obliterate
and take lives away
in corporate offices
the arms dealers
rub their hands
with glee
as they amass a bounty
from their lethal armories

Baby Jesus (Terzanelle Poem)
we celebrate him on a December day
two thousand years ago he came to earth
in a straw filled manger he lay

Joseph and Mary were elated at his birth
the son of God part of a divine trinity
two thousand years ago he came to earth

we recall the scene of the blessed nativity
singing carols in churches and in public halls
the son of God part of a divine trinity

school children are now painting pictures on walls
bringing the story of his birth to life in colors bold
singing carols in churches and in public halls

Christmas day is but a few days away for us to behold
tis a day of reflective thought and prayer
bringing the story of his birth to life in colors bold

over Bethlehem shone a bright star its brilliance rare
tis a day of reflective thought and prayer
we celebrate him on a December day
in a straw filled manger he lay
millions on millions
spread all over the globe
of one entity
of one humanity
a collective
all part of a whole
each continent's populous
utilizing the resources
of the planet
these finite assets
fast dwindling
fast disappearing
humanity shall feel the strain
as the dawn of new days actuate
the water well
shall not replenish
in dryness it shall remain
humanity drinking too oft
from its vein
our orb
twas created
with a limited store
of things
to consume a humongous portion
deprives other mouths of offerings
sustainability
is humanities
only hope
to keep gorging
to keep being gluttonous
shall eventuate
in humanities
overreaching
whereupon
the siren of a precipice
signals
humanities
termination

Our Bed (Rosarian Sonnet)
The plagiarist hath vacated this space
Yet his shadow still lingers at the place
In the nose one well senses it about
So oft an odor doth waft on the air
Which can be veiled by visage fair
The eyes are peeled they're ever watching
For that person of the copyist's cloning
Twill not be duped by untruthful flout
This day of its appearance yet unseen
Could there be a hiding behind the screen
Though the master duplicator hath fled
His presence is hovering over the joint
Of type in image same he did anoint
Within HP's walls it doth share our bed

Dry Creek Beds (Loop Poem)
dry creek beds were prevalent in 2010
2010 was a drought year around here
here the creeks didn't have any flows
flows of water in their bone dry beds

rains finally came in the middle of 2011
2011 was a drought breaking year here
here the dry creek beds then did flow
flow with fast moving surges of water
The bard spoke this night to me with concern
Cautioning should I write a sonnet fair
It would in the pages of history burn
Yet I'm pursuing the course with heaps of dare
Thy hand is set to work to prove him wrong
This composition will not in ashes fail
Determination is my consort song
Syllables ten to each line to couplet tail
A challenge put forth by musketeers three
No doubts yet have arisen of deftness
In completing the task given to me
The bard's classic form will cause no duress
On this journey one has taken a bet
The end product is now forever set

in a towering pile

his lopsided smile

a snow queen sending

there he sat grappling
with the long years of loss
all fanciful ideas

thirteen men came together, who shared a common goal
each one persisted on the field, to bring glory to their football team

employing skills they'd been taught, on the oval they put in their best
struggling against the other side, to win for the team

they'd not be disgraced, their competitive spirit rode high
the lads unified in battle, they played as a solid team

each man drilled and trained, none had defeat on their minds
positional play was all important, they'd not be a routed team

their football team had a draw on Sunday, the thirteen strove to win
as a cohesive unit they tried well, but the time clock disfavored their team

Trash In The Whitehouse
why is there trash in the Whitehouse
this question
the American people ponder
Obama garbage is polluting the residence
and yet he can't be removed
there must be a cleaning contractor
somewhere in the Congress or Senate
who has the wear with all
with a thorough broom
to excise the filth
that is inhabiting the place
action is needed on the clean up front
to rid the Whitehouse
of this most ugly affront
if he stays around
too much longer

worse
than a pellet of dog pooh

all the time pretending

in benefiting her own end

spinning her spider web
around and around
out of our bed
he did stray
she had the bait which
caused our love to fray

so too through the hems

no doubt Earth washing liquid
cleans the attire well
one could say that
I've fallen under its spell

my neighbor commented
on how my laundry gleams
she wishes that her Whirlpool machine
could fulfill her wash day dreams

one marvels at seeing
such well washed gear
it makes one feel like
letting out an almighty cheer

Rumor
a rumor is circulating in gardening circles
on the continent of England
the said rumor has traveled along a long vine
to the down under land

we the vegetable growers of Brisbane
are very disturbed about what we've heard
to us the rumor sounds rather absurd

we've taken it upon ourselves
to send a letter to the British Garden Society
asking them if the rumor has any propriety

sometimes a story
can be misrepresented
especially when the details of it
aren't correctly presented
we're seeking clarification
from those who have the right oil
as to whether the rumor
has any truth in the soil

this is the rumor that has been doing the rounds
and it relates to the High Grove grounds
a Yorkshire man who was sight seeing there
has said that he saw Charles the regal heir
talking to the garden slugs and snails
whilst walking amid the lettuce and kale
we know that his highness loves chatting to the trees
and he's often spoken to the earthworms and bees

we're totally confounded to hear of him
talking to garden pests
and we're hoping of this behavior
the Prince will soon divest
