Pretty Girl From Arkansas
his pretty girl
lives in Arkansas
he's traveling
the miles
to be with the girl
he adores

by the breaking light of dawn
he'll be holding her near
they'll be standing on her porch
taking in the bright sun's sphere

their kisses and cuddles
shall be so swell
their love shall chime
like an ecstatic bell

they'll continue
their love story
until the moon of night
they'll stay

soaring in love's flight

their love shall be
ever fond
and they'll always
have a loving bond

Blind Alley
all communications
were severed with that man from North Carolina
as he lead me on a wild goose chase
he said I'd find him on Facebook
but that was most misleading
because his profile doesn't exist there
what kind of person is he
to tell me such a lot of crap
I looked for the boots hanging over a balcony rail
like he said I should do
but alas that picture wasn't on view
genuine people don't lead others on a merry dance
and because of his little prank
the lines of communication
were cut off
for I wont be treated
like an idiot
who runs up a blind alley
looking for a person
who doesn't have
a Facebook account
There once was a woman named Mrs Bess
Who couldn't find her own address
She got slightly confused on the way there
And ended up at a village this side of Mayfair
Not being able to find her address stressed Mrs Bess

In The Still Of Night
in the still of night
when the stars are all ablaze
the elves and gnomes
come out to play

they scamper and scurry
all full of verve
as the sheep and cattle
take nightly preserve

old man moon chuckles
at these funny wee guys
skipping and dancing
in front of his eyes

on my pillow they do play
as the night slips slowly away
for the soul to rejoice
and to be in rhapsody
the rivers of peace
need to be supplicated
unto thee

drink of serenity
drink in its tranquility
thence the tune of inner beauty
sings with divinity

Rumor
a rumor is circulating in gardening circles
on the continent of England
the said rumor has traveled along a long vine
to the down under land

we the vegetable growers of Brisbane
are very disturbed about what we've heard
to us the rumor sounds rather absurd

we've taken it upon ourselves
to send a letter to the British Garden Society
asking them if the rumor has any propriety

sometimes a story
can be misrepresented
especially when the details of it
aren't correctly presented
we're seeking clarification
from those who have the right oil
as to whether the rumor
has any truth in the soil

this is the rumor that has been doing the rounds
and it relates to the High Grove grounds
a Yorkshire man who was sight seeing there
has said that he saw Charles the regal heir
talking to the garden slugs and snails
whilst walking amid the lettuce and kale
we know that his highness loves chatting to the trees
and he's often spoken to the earthworms and bees

we're totally confounded to hear of him
talking to garden pests
and we're hoping of this behavior
the Prince will soon divest
on that balmy night in June
the young lovers lingered
under the swaying  palm trees
to ardently kiss

U-Utmost is the power of their glorious sight
M-Mesmeric medallions streaming on limbs

a drove's escort

he's not an Angus

Frozen Wiles
Doctor and Mr Granger have gone on holiday
They boarded an interstate bus at seven thirty am yesterday
By three this afternoon they'll be sunbathing at Tampa Bay
It's been years since they ventured down that way

Mrs Granger needed to escape the winter chills
Which had been so extreme in those Tennessee hills
The warmer Florida climes would give her such thrills
As the sun in this location has always heated her blue gills

The good Doctor Granger is a wonderful chap
He didn't want Mrs Granger to be in the cold snap
And he made sure she'd not have to feel its cold wrap
Hence the nice holiday into Tampa's warm lap

The Grangers will be staying in the South region for a while
Where the sun ever displays its radiant dial
And gives Mr Granger a good reason to smile
As she gets away from Tennessee's frozen wiles
Every so often, I like to post a poem about Doctor and Mrs Granger...

Captivating twas the rose's potency

Saturday's Laundry
by heck I've been busy
in the laundry room to-day
washing all my apparel
on this mild Saturday

on the clothesline
is an array of pantaloons
four white bras are catching
the sun's brimming boon

a stiff breeze blows through
the toes of my socks
so too through the hems
of all my party frocks

no doubt Earth washing liquid
cleans the attire well
one could say that
I've fallen under its spell

my neighbor commented
on how my laundry gleams
she wishes that her Whirlpool machine
could fulfill her wash day dreams

one marvels at seeing
such well washed gear
it makes one feel like
letting out an almighty cheer

Capitulation(Sports Poem)
capitulation is on the English sides mind
their brand of cricket has been of an awful kind
this ashes series our Australian side blew them away
as they had a very stylish form of play

the bowling and batting of the Australian team
has wrecked the English lads winning dream
our lads didn't put a foot wrong on the wicket
they were a class act at playing the game of cricket

the last match in the series is on to-day
and the Australians will most certainly be making hay
at this stage they've got the English struggling
they've not got enough fire power in their batting

after the lunch break we'll have the English all out
they'll be wearing the odd ****** pout
they've not prepared well in any facet of the game
which has been a terrible shame

the annuls of cricket shall record England's loss
and speak glowingly of the Australian teams gloss
the 2013-2014 ashes series a series of capitulation
where the English didn't play well against our nation

Frugality
Mr Jones had the sum of five bucks
So he bought a coffee at Starbucks
Their lattes were inexpensively priced
So none of his meager dollars were sacrificed
He was a man who knew the value of cash
And never spent oodles from his stash
As he slurped the coffee down he did smile
For he'd saved a humongous money pile
He lived the life of a very frugal chap
And rarely emptied his finance's tap

Distorted Thoughts
distorted thoughts played in his head
never did they cease
his existence
ruled
by what was playing in his head

the distorted thoughts
couldn't be put to rest
at night they'd magnify
larger and larger
the distortion
grew

a compulsion to act on his thoughts
reached a crescendo
ever so drastic
his steps were

in the wee small hours
he arose from his bed
all the while
the distortions
repeatedly playing louder
and louder in his head

his lifelong partner
slept soundly
she'd never awake again
deeply so deeply
the love he felt for her
yet his distorted thoughts
were all centered on her
he thought she'd been
unfaithful to him
no other man was going to have
his wife
she was his
and his for life

he took the rifle
he'd secreted in the hall cupboard out
and loaded it with ammunition
then unloaded
the contents of the magazine
into his wife's
temple
as he did
the distorted
thoughts
echoed
and echoed
on and on
in his head
he'd reached
snapping point
he then positioned
the rifle
at his own head
and shot
himself
stone dead

his blood and his wife's blood mingled
on the bedroom floor
his distorted thoughts
couldn't go on any more

this tragedy
may have been averted
so it is said
had he of had
some treatment
for the distorted thoughts
which plagued his head
there was a lot of love
in this decade
the people joined
a peace parade

the air was filled
with an upbeat atmosphere
the flower children
were on a higher sphere

tunes started to sound
like they'd been set free
the musicians weren't
bound by a formalized key

fashion underwent
a considerable change
whereupon the beaded
look wasn't so strange

may these scant clues
aid all of you
in finding what decade
I'm taking you to

Rousing Ovation
after four decades of protracted debate
as to where to locate a second airport
our federal government has finally made a decision
to go ahead with the construction of the airport

they've not been overly speedy
in their deliberations on the matter

is an endless stream of chatter

now the memorandum of understanding
for its location has been signed off
we the citizens of New South Wales
can't wait for a jet plane to take off

the existing airport terminal is becoming
more and more congested by the day
and a second airport facility
will sweep all the clogging away

we're mightily pleased that the government
have got moving on the airports location
now the flying public of our state
shall afford them a rousing ovation
soon the brilliant ides of spring
shall bring such a resplendent ring
to the meadows and rolling hills
making for grand eye catching thrills

floral displays e'er so divine
their faces showing on a vine
of scented aromas in frills
a perfume sweet to breathing gills

strolling amid the colors bright
splendor in their superb highlight
exquisite be these rainbows mills
bursting with shining tonal spills

the news of the season of spring
brings to a winter heart many trills
