flawed to near insanity but long as you could hold down a job then its alright isn't that a wise policy she asked i'm not so sure watching the clowns strut their stuff in the midnight sun they are reckless to be certain but self aware to a fault just makes it all the more bizarre watch em go at it with each other over the simplest thing its no way to live you can vouch for the living as long as you haven't died and this madness is just shy of being in a pine box so darling lets get outa this crazy place get away from the thinking that you gotta be like everybody else get away from the plastic hippie rat-race roll down the easy highway find us some sweet sunshine to breath in find us a better life to be

The bowl might as well have been packed with my hypocampus, every lighter spark brought only memories of you. I blew smoke signals to the wind, begging the universe to mend our broken fate line.

Unrequited Hippie Love
The private gun salesman divine savior of our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness! Washes his own hands of the matter, he has no need for Mary Magdalene, divine ********** hippie. Arms outstretched he sacrifices his own collection (for a sum of course) for the anonymous benefit of a person who "seems alright". They aren't Mexican or Black after all! Or God forbid, Indian! What would we do without that Just defender? Our private gun salesman, divine savior of America.

The Gun Salesman
You have ripped bellbottoms a shaky smile, The sandy curls that cascade down your back. You smoke till your lungs go black, You sit in the blazing sun meditating till you go tan. You play the tunes of The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, That suede jacket you wear every Tuesday. You decorate your room with blankets so the colors keep you company, The daisies you wear in your hair till they go brown. You let your cigarette dangle from your thin lips, That gritty sound you make when you form words. Your eyes are always clouded with memories, You wear those circular shades to hide from people. You wipe the tears off of people’s faces, Smile when theres nothing to smile about. Your hands are tatted with henna, and you wear the shirt of a tie-dye spider. All you eat is trail-mix of pistachios and sun-dried apples. You ride in a Volkswagen with windows down to feel the breeze. Your peace sign is like “the healer” to all pain. You take a pull off hookah and a bite of shrooms just to chase away the madness. You create your own reality. When the rain falls down you fling your head back and yell to the world, The face you make when you see animals. He’s like an eagle, ready to sore through the sky and bring positivity. Don’t ever tell me you’re not a hippie, because I’ve never seen anyone as unique as you.

Hippie
I want to be a hippie but my mum says no, she says i smell to clean an short hair as a hippie just doesnt go. I want to be a hippie but my dad says no as the only drug i take is asprin and son asprin is a drug a hippie just cant smoke. A hippie loves peace and the thought of love, you build war machines so death isnt for hippies and you think love is a joke. So my son you dont drink you dont smoke or do any kind of drug, you have short hair so a hippie you'll never be so no means no.

Love is a ***** soup going stale but steaming like it's brand new; And I'm Oliver twist walking up to the *** with a rusty spoon full of desire and hope asking for more but getting none. Love is a Doctor gathering dead bodies and shackling them up in chains; And I'm a green freak with Frankenstein bolts ****** through my head walking around with only a mumble to muster trying to love people who just want to run away. Love is a white paper rolled so finely, full of sedatives and drugs; And I'm sitting by a fire reaching in for a log to smoke. Love is puzzle made by Einstein and Sam Loyd; And I'm a child with eyes made of glass and hands made of thorns crying to my mother because that puzzle is a ***** Love is Navy Seal training on a beach covered in cold water spilling blood for a chance; And I'm a pot-smoking hippie who holds up signs and tells soldiers they’re monsters as I take a puff of death. Love is a ten-syllable word compacted into one; And I'm a hooked on phonics children’s thesaurus struggling to find a comparison that I can actually pronounce. Love is a white egg timer sitting on the fridge set to all nines; And I'm a busy housewife waiting to cook dinner at the sound of its bell. Love is a robber with a 45 in his belt; And I'm an eager dad trying to protect his family with a wooden stick. Love is hot coffee from a luxury beverage shop; And I'm a plastic party cup melting away. Love is a doctor with a PHD in heart surgery; And I'm a sick child waiting with his mother with no healthcare ******* on a free doctor’s-office lollypop. Love is a huge pink eraser; And I'm a graphite pencil struggling to write while me and the eraser fight. Love is a pickup truck speeding through town drunk; And I'm a lost puppy running through the same intersection looking for my owner. Love is meant for fish; And I'm a bird.

I thought I saw him, Standing so elegant, No single expressed whim, His skin and body vents Can't smell what he sees, Only the breeze through the leaves, A forest fire blazed, But the tree always stayed Yeah, I've felt the wind, And I've heard the birds, Through the flowers I grinned, I tasted the words

The Hippie Tree
Over a cup of morning java Scanning my daily mail I came upon an advertisement sheet *That exclaimed in BOLD rainbow pastel* Grand opening of a store that has everything On the corner of Daisy and William Tell The one thing I saw that interested me Is they were having a back to "60's"  Hippie sale Of course I stopped what it was I was doing Hopped in my Lexus and left right away The excitement had my heart all in a flutter This I guarantee is going to be a good day They weren't kidding when they said they sold it all I'd been wandering the store for quite a while That's when I came to what it was I had come here for Before me in trippy little colors, the hippie aisle So I bought me a couple colorful hippies With my 25% coupon I was able to save The Hippies even  came with a bonus Fresh cut flowers and Jefferson Airplane tapes When I got home I showed them to their room Black light posters and colored beads hung from the door As luck would have it I bought an Indian hemp rug From Pier One just the day before They taught me transcendental meditation While I taught them both how to bathe Their lessons broadened the mind My lessons the nostrils saved I soon had a groovy little hippie pad In which organic vegetables and enlightenment grew We'd sit around crossed legged in a  purple haze at night Playing psychedelic tunes on our Kazoo's And I was pretty good too! Who Knew! Yes, a house of happy hippies Is a happy hippie house indeed Especially when Wendy Crystal Sky...Yes, that's her name Brews her famous dandelion tea I highly recommend the purchase of hippies I couldn't be any happier with mine Sure beats the punk rockers I got on close out last year But that my friend is another tale for another time...

My mother was a first generation lesbian. My father, a first generation divorcee. His father was the one child of a public school teacher. He found my grandmother at 18. A farm child, one of seven. A painter, a baker. My mother's father a single boy to three sisters. His aggressive masculinity kept the line clear and thick. He found my mother's mother at 17. A middle of seven Pentecostal children. A beauty queen, an agoraphobic. Each had five children. The door-to-door salesmen/ homemaker and mother of boys duo bet it all to open a hobby shop. They were by far the poorest of the watermelon farming siblings. They were artists and explorers. The high school graduate and ladies man, was a logger before a father. And the single mother of 25 he left scarcely left her home at all. Neither pair made it big. But they made my father. A lonely, post middle aged man. The poorest of his brothers. A used to be pilot, and could have been teacher, a want to be pioneer. A nuclear family super fan who never got his way. And they made my mother. A nervous, eccentric hippie who doesn't know how to talk to her siblings. A woman working her *** off to excel at lower middle class. A builder, a fighter, a **** good mother. Even if accidentally so. She has plans to travel. He has dreams to live by a lake. And they made me. A single girl among three boys. A quirky, nervous tomboy. A thinker, a gardener, a climber. A loser and a dreamer by blood.

The Losers and The Dreamers
(10/13/12) At the beginning of “64” - I packed up my uniform And walked out the door- it was the beginning of The Vietnam war. By August of that same year President Johnson started the draft Under protests and jeers. Then he made it a full scale war And sent our soldiers to Vietnam shores. The Beatniks in Greenwich village With their long hair, beards, and Flip flop sandals - wrote their poetry About this undeclared war, and why Our men were going to those shores. This created a new generation called ‘HIPPIES” The hippie generation was groups of protesters Against everything that they found wrong The draft , the war , pollution And loved to stay high with *** hashish Coke and acid (lsd) which kept them blasted. This also created the “ flower children” Who like the hippies loved to be high And on certain flowers they would fly. But they spoke of loving one another And gave out flowers as a sign of peace Which to the president was a relief. They all started painting this “53 Chevy impala” With the words “ flower power”. Now the “ flower children and hippie movement Was in full swing, and everyone was doing their own thing. They had Greenwich village under their control And not one coffee shop would ever be sold. Every coffee shop had a poetry night And going there was such a delight. Then in AUGUST of “69” The WOODSTOCK festival was on the rise Over half a million people drove to that farmland And set up tents , hammocks, sleeping bags and such And the police found it was much to much So they had no choice but to see it through Because there was nothing else that they could do. The WOODSTOCK festival had become world wide And to this day it still thrives. © L . RAMS

I feel decompressed and lethargic, as I continue scrolling through my online soul only to see a kind-hearted person now nostalgic. Why can't we all feel the same? Why does the world seem to be aflame? It's because we all try to accomplish being perfect, and when we spot "convicts" we don't even detect we inflict neglect. The thought of unity is fading away as is the hippie way, a late anniversary bouquet whittling away, a smoking cigarette left around the ashtray, dying this midsummers day. Why is this thought so crazy anyway? The change starts internally, and can only be finished by an honest community, one where we can all live with our acquired mental immunity. Finally, peace sets within our unity.

Nostalgic Unity
Iridescent celestial being An anarchic yet effervescent adolescent Frolicking freely like a breeze throw the leave of an omnipresent forest. Bare foot and star gazing, native and trail blazing. Like a clever fearless fairy exploring the faraway night sky She is the fantastic bit of magic on an otherwise static planet. The captain of passion and best little hippie on the mountain Formed by a volcanic fountain that caused a panic on our little oceanic planet.

The Ego of a Hippie
This woman I know quite the old hippie gave me this lovely gift A softened silk and denim dress Folded loosely just handed to me, unwrapped (We felt the same about the waste of paper) “This is for you.” Opening it, I saw its gentle gathers from the shoulders almost elegant, its drape and the rough but soft and dark of it Real indigo dye with silk laces from bust to waist ...then the tiny stitching... NO! Not by machine! Knew the labor was – intensive Every edge was finished, sewn by her caring hand! "Oh, lady of my dream whom I do not know I THANK YOU! From my soul" I would have made this in another life – time of hope and longing And then I saw that seam! along the side that wasn't... really... just those thicker threads a silk macrame of knotted net so –  bold to hold that one inch open to hint at nothing – and everything – in between “Oh hell! Oh **** Does it come with an occasion??!!” She smiled somewhere between shy and sly

Coteries are not for me.
Last week, among friends black and white, among some discussion of protests in Ferguson and the related looting of stores, I invoked the word. It was an admission, in a round of confessions, of something about myself that I didn't like: that I had perceived Michael Brown in that way based on his possible participation in a strong-armed robbery. When Travon Martin was in the news, I was inflamed like many others who wanted George Zimmerman in jail for ****** The outcome of that trial was an injustice, I was utterly certain. Why does this case in Missouri feel different? More importantly, Who is inside me that still wants to rise in defiance of 48 years of learning how to be a better person, a person without prejudices, stereotyping, labeling of others, hurtful language? Where is the hippie girl now? How does she live with this other person? Am I Sterling, Gibson, a hater and spewer of viciousness, a lover of separation and separateness, that I should invite damage to my own relationships with those I love and cherish and respect? What is a **** but a bully, and what is a bully but someone who pushes words around like weapons, spits them out indiscriminately, so that they land on the already bruised heart and set it on fire. Whose heart, besides mine, now sits in smoke and ash, with that word like a brand still sore and permanent, having been spoken aloud?

I moved a few years ago To the upper state of Vermont Although the place is beautiful At times it can be one great big yawn That's when we put our heads together Me and my best friend Shawn And came up with the great idea To start a Hippie Farm Our noggins were a knocking Not sure how this could be done Do Hippies come from packs of seeds Or like flowers, in a bunch And can you start them off by grafting Like they do on Apple Farms Where you get rows and rows of Hippies From just a single one That's when Shawn remembered this mail order magazine That we took out and took a look inside It came with an assortment of Hippies From Raw to Roasted to Highly Deep Fried So we sat and weighed all of our options And ordered a bushel of Hippies alive Then we set out cultivating the fields Till the day our Hippies arrived The package  arrived a few days later In an old beat up VW Bus With psychedelic smoke pouring from the windows Pretty sure they all came buzzed Of course Hippies don't come with instructions Only bell bottom jeans and old Jefferson Airplane tapes Can't tell you how many Hippies we went through Before we learned from our mistakes Like don't plant a Hippie face first in the dirt They need a bit of air to breath And they don't like to be over watered Just dust them off when you feel the need Now that the farm is up and running We seem to have come into our own We've even come up with  a way of branding Some of the Hippies that we've grown We started selling them in flavors Like Ben and Jerry's down the street From our Abbie Hoffman Radical Cherry To our Hendrix Hazy Purple Berry Treat But it's our Groovy Rainbow Roundup Hippie Whose sales have never let us down In fact I'd put that Hippie up against Anybody else's Hippie in town I've never been much of one to brag But we're known on the East coast, up and down We've had people as far away as Florida Come and buy our Hippies by the pound So next time your up in Vermont Stop in and take a tour and watch us grow Don't forget to stop by our gift shop And purchase your very own Hippie to take home

Hippie song circles, Twist and turn your fate Show me what's beyond the eye Taste the absinth and watch the illusions. Mold me to this earth And soak me in, I want to be whole, I want to be whole again. Close your eyes and we'll place daisies In your unbrushed, long blonde hair LSD, LSD, oh, sweet drugs Drink my soul and breathe me out as smoke Dellusions, illusions Take me back in time I don't feel right. Keep me in these guitar kissed Hippie song circles forever.

When we talk We reckless teenagers We rebels without causes We James Deans of the world We talk about wanted tattoos "A 3 on my back" "Wings" "On my lip" And piercings "My nose" "My belly button" And alcohol "Icelandic chocolate" ***** "Whiskey" Because we want to do the things We can't We're on the edge The brink Does that make us reckless? Greedy? Something to be laughed at? It makes us human. We're greedy. We want to be different So we sit in circles And curse and drink And play stupid games Like truth or dare Because we're reckless And we talk about *** Talk back to our parents Because we worship sarcasm And complain about how poor we are. What else can you expect From artsy Reckless Hipster New York kids?

Hippie Circles
I'm just an old hippie Somehow his spirit has gotten inside me I'm for peace and love and music And I like to see my girl in a sundress with a flower in her hair I'm just an old hippie; I like living free Some people don't get me They don't like my long hair They think I'm just about *** and drugs And that I don't have a care I'm an old hippie but your judgment is unfair I challenge you to read the bible and the teachings of the Lord Did he teach peace; I believe so Did he teach about love, understanding and being there for others; do I need to say more I don't like war; peace and love and music is what I live for I'm just an old hippie; I like living free
