Oh, absent one, I miss you.
Darling, an empty place awaits you.
Thrushes chirp their dissatisfaction in
the garden as I doze with boredom.
I send my well wishes from a distance.

Oh, absent one, my digital ghost.
You're here when I call but not here.
I brush my hair with discontent, I
eat bitter, lonely meals to stay alive.
I send my love from a distance.

Nowadays I wake up hoping for the unpredictable - the novel.
When I open my eyes the angel of death isn’t out to get me.
Then - I remember - we’re at war and practicing subterfuge -
that measured trade-off between safety and despair.
So I move to my patterned routines - I dust my unused lips.
I check the level of my virtuous thoughts - hhmm.. getting low.
And I prepare the clever inventions that allow us to simulate life.

Masks bridle passion.
'Pandemic rules' enforce distance.
Love,corona reimagined!

With the ****** Virus,
continuing it's Live Concert
on Earth
and Hell stacked,
with all Our Devil's.
I for One,
am keeping My Fingers crossed
and Praying........
that Heaven will Host Me
on their Premises.

Blood for ink
As I seal your fate
A deadly pandemic
Will lead you astray
Bullets and politics
Won’t prevail
The strongest survive
While the weaklings fade.

Slowly but surely
I’ll take back what’s mine
Two thousand years
And a thousand designs
For vengeance, for justice,
Cold and cruel
A mother’s justice
Tough love- fuelled.

Warnings were spurned
Not once or twice
Greed and Envy
Took root in a trice
Beware, beware,
I surmise
That our cries and sighs
Will be our final goodbyes.

Darling........stay far away from Me,
for a few days More.
Until The Monster,
reduces it's victims Score.
We should not hold Hands,
in times like This.
No more Nights,
of Midnight Bliss.
The World is freaked out,
with the ****** Virus.
It hasn't spared Tom,
****, Harry nor Cyrus.
It will be lingering for a While,
like Viruses usually Do.
Then leaving Us for Good,
when We discover a Vaccine or Two.
So hold on to your kisses,
until this Nightmare gets Over.
Then U can pass them to Me,
your sweet, sweet Lover.

Blindfolded in the center ring

The crowd wants blood

Everything forgotten
to pandemonium

The bell rings

The round begins

If nothing else
one thing is certain

We're in for the fight
of our lives
Oli Stansfield May 2020
finally, their sirens cease.
                    wailing echoes fade
          into foreign silence

at first... everything is still

until the first cellar door tentatively
cracks open

very slowly those that are not dead emerge
eyes shielded from sunlight
             squinting at nature’s misshapen forms

lungs greedily gulp clean air

everything is changed
                    yet we are the same
