To build a new life
We must survive
The storm coming
Sushmita Feb 2020
We are made with all kinds of flaws,
Some are fat, some are dark and some literally have Down's,
All we've got to do is survive in this world full of teasers,
All we've got to do is to be deaf to all these haters,
Then look up, walk tall and enjoy the journey of the beautiful life,
we've led and will lead ahead,
Thank him for giving us a chance to prove our worth,
Just love and be loved,
For love is the most powerful force.

My first poem. Any constructive criticism is most welcome!

To all the kids with hell inside their head,
This one is for you
I know what you are feeling right now,
The worst place for anxiety is the doctor's office,
Right?
You are scared they will weigh you
They might see the result of the empty
Paranoia tells you they will judge you for your number on the scale
Depression says you won’t have to do it again,
It says you’ll be gone by next year
You know the doctor might look at your wrists
And if they do…
You will get help
You can have someone be paid to care about you
Having hell inside your head hurts
No matter what they say it doesn't shut up
You can yell
But not over the noise
You can fly
But not over the memories
You can die
But then you come back into the real world
This is one of my less dark poems, just putting that out there

does nothingness have a reflection
can it survive in the orange fog of today's kingdom
the kingdom that once was so Camelot

Can you see it?
Matt Bernstein Feb 2020
Dragging feet down the twisted riverbanks,
seduced by what I cannot reach.
There's an island just past the current
and I am marooned on the wrong beach

A raft of driftwood, a bridge of stones
Let slip the days from when I could not breath
Ah! but now I've been swimming for years!
And from the sand, the sky melts into the trees.

Cracked China cup
At a chipped table
Stained cloth dressing
Do you still see
Beautiful
Tell me now
As broken candles
Burn
        On
Down
Broken things
See broken things
And cracks hide
Truth
I see you
This crack’ed thing
And I see you
Beautiful
Lovely you
Cracked
But not outdone
They try to
Break you
Take you
Because you’re the only
One
A cracked cup
That runneth over
But
Can still hold your
Own
Oh precious
How you’ve grown
Setting a place that
You deserve
I pray that
You are filled
Cracks only
Show
When you can’t
Hold

But I’d gladly hold
You

Running to and fro
Can't let the stress go
Assignments piled up
Due so soon
All loom over me
My impending doom

Spanish, P.E., Creative Writing,
Journalism, English, Biology
And Finally; Math
These grades I'm fighting
I can't get it done chronologically
Can't stick to one path
Scattered mind
Struggling to find
The answers I seek.

Tell me, how do I survive?
How do I thrive,
In a world where I am behind?

Working to hard,
Keeping it fresh in my mind
Making a flashcard
To help me find
What I left behind
A week and a half ago
Right out the window
Now I need to go back
Through the window
For the information I lack.

I'm so stressed and I can't focus. I have so much work to catch up on from when I was absent. Wrote this in class to get the tension to ease a little so I can try to get back to work with a fresh mind.

In the end it’s love
That will save us from ourselves.
An instinct greater than us
Makes us think of someone else.
