I look to the sky,
for you, I begin to cry.
have to unify

I hate when it bangs.
Look, these clouds, our overhangs,
They shall feel our fangs.

It must be so fun,
In your hands, to hold a gun.
We don't want to run.

We don't want to hide.
Death, no longer is our bride.
POTUS, step aside.

So you have a new dog for protection
Cause the man on the street
just left detention
and your wife has no objection
you say your better off than before

Okay, so your new friend is a pit bull
and just to keep this anonymous
we shall say his name is Barnabas
And so Barnabas is friendly and sweet
with everyone he meets,

Until one day, you let Barnabas outside
for some fresh air
and he meets the pretty little girl
who lives down the street
with a curl in her hair

Oh she sings a song to her teddy bear
and your new best friend, Barnabas
doesn't like girls with curls
So he tears her to pieces
and her little brown teddy bear

And you begin to fret
cause the law states specifically
You,  you're the one
You're being held responsible
for Barnabas breaking the golden rule
and mauling a pretty little girl
with a curl in her hair

And we ask how is this scenario different
As the finger by the law of the land
points straight at you
Than if your child goes berserk,
and shoots everyone in the school band
I'm sorry I just don't understand

Soft fingers twirl and intertwine
Yelled at for “PDA”
Laughing it off, happy inside.
Saying bye just to see each other at the end of the day.

Promises of the future
Maybe forever together
Holding hands
Making silly plans

Going to school dances
Smiling together, laughing.
Wanting it to stay the same
Till the end of your days.

.....

Thought you were safe
Nothing could hurt you in this place
Head over heels for one another
A flame that burned too bright to be smothered.

Making faces across the classroom
Texting back and forth, messages zoom.
Wanting to kiss and hug
And send all your love.

Focused only on them
They’re your shining gem.
Thoughts are suddenly interrupted
You can’t seem to focus on what the intercom just said.

Hearing bangs and alarms
Trying to grab ahold of their arm
You can’t lose them no matter what
This uncomfortable feeling in your gut

Hearing but not believing
It’s not real, what you’re seeing.
Your high school sweetheart
Heart pulling apart

All those plans that stood for forever
Now discarded, stand for never.
Can’t see them after this class or the next
No more loving texts

.....

Screaming and blubbering
Can’t think straight for anything.
All you know is they won’t move
Last breaths used holding you.

Always told your love wouldn’t last
Didn’t think it’d be over this fast.
Weeks spent wondering
Would it have been forever if not for this one thing?

Would this even have occurred,
If gun control laws were ensured and enforced?
I personally have never been through a school shooting, but hearing the news of the recent tradegy got me to thinking about all the couples who had to go through that, with the thought I’d never seeing each other again. I apoligize if this poem has offended anybody i know this is a very sensitive topic.

There is a - hollowness - inside of me
A gap I can’t seem to fully locate
A hole - a cave -  somewhere inside of my chest
It sinks - it fills up
With an emotion I do not think exists
It feels like tidal waves, I feel it shaking inside of me
The first time I felt this hole
Was when the boy with messy brown hair and a heart even bigger than his smile
Lost the battle between him and his demons
And they swallowed him whole
The second time I felt this gap
Was when the kid with a loud laugh and cheesy dimples
Lost control of his mind
And now he floats in the sky
The third - and last - time I felt this hole
Was when I heard the screams - of children
Who knew they were about to die
Their shrieks and sobs
Radiated miles and miles from their tiny district
Into my heart, into my lungs, and made their way into the hole in my chest.
And now I’m just curious
What horrible thing is going to happen
That will make this feeling
Happen yet again?
we need more love.

once again

I heard bang bang

bullets shooting out of an assault rifle

rip through innocent young bodies

setting off a series of wailing cries

once again

I heard clink clank of gold coins

dropping into the golden bowls

held by weapon manufacturers, NRA,

politicians and dealers

setting off a series of hearty chuckles

The other day, a boy brought a loaded gun to school. 1000 pairs of watching eyes, hundreds of Facebook posts demanding a name, 10 cop cars outside of turner high, 2 boys who robbed a house, and one boy, with one loaded gun. When I told my mom a boy with a pistol showed up during 4th hour she didn’t even look up from making dinner, not because she doesn’t care, but because a school shooting threat just became every other Friday. The first threat of this year was made by a boy with dark purple hair, angry that he wasn’t allowed to stalk innocent girls, this time a boy was robbed of almost everything, except his ability to load a gun.... I don’t know when it happened, when they replaced fire drills with lock down, when a popped bag of chips stopped a heart beat, when the boy who broke a window got a felony and the one with a weapon got a misdemeanor. My life isn’t worth much but I thought it would be at least worth a year. When did a corpse become necessary for a sentencing? When did a gun become as casual as a book? When did weapons become more popular than to **** a mockingbird? When did the teenage funerals become weekly events?

America is great!
So... just to get it straight?
Your right to have and hold a gun.. For fun..
Trumps the rights of all daughters, and sons...
to learn, to play, in a place, that’s safe?

You are not defending freedom,
the only thing that’s freed..
Is Your Greed.

The cash rolls in,
the shooting starts again,
the NRA write... A. Big. Fat. Cheque.
Whilst kids learn to “hit the deck!”?

You want teachers trained as shooters,
Not as tutors.
Inspired by the brave kids at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. and the inaction of those in power who have the means and responsibility to stop it happening again.

the code red alarm rings
echoing in the halls
we drop to the floor
almost in unison
is this the end?

the teacher
the one who we trust
to protect us
is just another sheep
in this herd
of fear

nobody is safe
nor are we above
anyone else
we are equal

we are shaking
as we hug the ground
waiting

waiting
to be slain
waiting to be saved
but still
waiting

i am lucky to say
it was only a drill

but for those
across the country
they weren't that lucky

they were shot at
they were killed
they watched
their loved ones
die

we live in a country
where guns
matter more than
our kids

where an AR-15
can be purchased
by anyone

but when tragedy strikes
people act shocked
they send their prayers
their thoughts

**** that.

prayers and thoughts
don't do anything

they don't bring back
those we have lost
they don't take
the grief away from us

things won't change
until we start a riot
until we can really make a change

we are the home
of mass shootings

we need to change that

Ø It ain't safe Ø
Rejoice for every missed soul a bullet fails to slaughter..
Anguish and sorrow for every soul  bullets used to masecure.
Bullets..weapons of war.. used for hunting of innocent humans.
Others giving resistence saying rights to carry over rights to live.
No Rights to be protected..from demented minds and unholy mentions.
A Country that fails to nurture and keep safe its citizens is perplexive.
Can't  relate to being (safe).. Homes Ø safe.. schools Ø safe.. work place Ø safe!
It ain't safe!.. America we aint Ø safe!
