All I do is think
You are the only reason
I wish I wasn't
Kinda stole a line from one of my favorite movies but oh well
Dr Zik Mar 2015
You are in my conscious, hope, unconscious, wish, doubt
Your existence unshakable, hidden, obvious
Start is You and end is You, yes and no is You!
Hidden in the core of heart, Owner, Tenant You!
Your Messenger has granted me such a caring light
Start is You and end is You, yes and no is You!
You are with me O’ my Lord! sound speech is You!
Send is You receive is You, dealt and deal is You!
Start is You and end is You, yes and no is You!
A call arose in my heart; go towards the Lord!
A wondrous way started: soul; attracted by You!'
Start is You and end is You, yes and no is You!
You made me conscious of day; it’s prime of life
You are recognizer Lord; sign and soul is You!
Start is You and end is You, yes and no is You!
To my mind there is only You; so seeking You!
How could I lose my Lord? Where? nowhere You?
Start is You and end is You, yes and no is You!
I am feeling felt is You; deal and done is You!
I am fan and fun is You; all and One is You!
Start is You and end is You, yes and no is You!
A translation of my own poem written in Urdu language. The name of book is "RAH TAKTI AANKH (راہ تکتی آنکھ)"
I've never had a girlfriend,
never had a job,
Never had a home to call my own,
Never been to the pub.

I have friends,
I have an education,
I have shelter,
I am healthy.

I've never been famous,
never been popular,
never been wealthy,
never drove a car.

I have time to myself,
I know who I can trust,
money means more to me,
I am fitter.

Yes, there are negatives in life.
But positives are there as well.
They may not be as clear.
But if you search, you will find.

The other day I told you about how I sometimes get the urge to eat tree bark
The flaky, papery kind that peels from the trunks of certain trees
Just a little, just to try it
You told me that was ******* weird

I'm more honest with you than I am with myself
You are my diary, a shoebox of secrets
And I tell you everything that runs through my head
You know me inside and out, like the back of your hand, like your favorite book

I want to be your hometown
I want you to find a place in me where you can be safe
And shed your skin, be as naked as I am
Let me be your shelter
Together, we can hide from the snow
Until the world thaws out

Ancient trees of majesty
why reach your arms in excellency?
Why skim the clouds and pierce the stars,
to stand so bold as warrior Mars?
Why be a thing of children's play,
and watch the scene where lovers lay?
Why touch the hearts of young and old?
Why change your leaves from green to gold?
Why dip your arms in pools below
and float your leaves as falling snow?
Why whistle tunes on winds of high
why whistle tunes as winds go by?

I waited from dawn to dusk you see
for these ancient trees soon whispered to me

      We grasp the day
      We grasp the night
We grasp the fowl on earnest flight

You give us  breath which we repay
we mold your health in loving way
We climb these hills and mountaintops
and spread our green as greenery crops
We house these creatures in wooden shacks
and feel the cut of the woodmen's axe
We watch the peace and wars go by
and suffer pestilence without a cry
We dance and sway on winds of old
to tell our stories far untold..

This is a lyrical poem which can be accommodated by

Thank you kindly
This was my first poem written around 1965.
I was working for GOOD HUMOR on an ice cream truck.
I worked in Merchantville and Pensauken NJ.
On my lunch breaks I would awe at nature because I ate in
wooded areas best way to digest food around silence away
from the hustle and bustle...

Let my prayers give you-
my hands to take care of you
my heart to love you so
my eyes to watch  over you

Let them keep you safe from harm-
my skin to make you warm
my kisses to give you charm
to protect you against the storm

Let my love go where you are-
be your light, your brightest star
be your guide though I'm afar
together we will heal the scar...
Let them be with you. I love you.

Open me up
Rip out my stuffing
Scatter my entrails along the floor
Hide in my thin skin

Seek refuge
I’ll protect you

Memphis got real high in the 50's.
Those honeycomb bathroom floors decided to become streets
them city kids got the buy bug knocking at their knees.
Problem is: They never dream.
Teachers just learning to write
using pens filled with interrupting ink
telephone poles gossiping about the trees,
they hated their branches—always loosing their leaves
office administrators on Section 8 Housing
while the vacant houses are out on the streets.
People swarming the sewers
forgetting: a bomb shelter is no home
while drainage floods the alleys.

If you could see this place with your own eyes
and not the ones you bought at the drug store
you would wish you were blind.
The word 'loosing' is intentional.

Never take shelter in another human being—
we are weak foundations
no comfort within
because we all break, splinter, crumble
at some point,
concerned not where our rubble falls
and not who it destroys
but if it falls safely
The storm came out of nowhere,
And you were there
With wings ready to fly
And as the clouds broke the sky

You didn't leave

You were my shelter
From the rain and thunder
And when it ceased
And the wind eased

I didn't leave

The rain you stopped
Rained down your core
And every drop
Held like a store

It didn't leave

Until the gust shook it free
And you rained down on me
Cold and sharp but how could I leave
When you held it all of this time for me

I'll stay with you.
