She's lovely and fair,
Her tail glittering 'neath
The monstrous waves.
She sings a beautiful,
Song, one full of sorrow.
It makes you pity her,
And soon you'll wish to follow.
Follow her into the depths,
Young sailor,
She'll show you wondrous things.
Light and love, sweet love,
She'll show you how to sing.
You'll ask for breath,
But she will grant you none.
You will accept this,
Because she says
"It'll soon be done."
Follow her into the depths,
Young sailor,
She'll show you darker things.
Death, pain, the sad rings
Of death's bells as they toll.
You have fallen for her,
But she wished for you to drown.
You have loved her,
And she loved to see your broken crown.
Follow her into the depths,
Young sailor,
And you will savor those last breaths.

Siren Coast Jul 2016
I dreamed I was a siren
I watched you from new points of view
under neath the water
you stroked the surface
propelling your board
I followed you down the coast
I tried not to grab your hand
knowing basic instinct was to drown
But I did it anyway
I dragged you down
I tried to fill you with my soul
But your love for the sea and mine differ
you almost made it back to land
I could have let you
But I needed you to feel my pain
I drowned you in the sea
You drowned me in the sand.
The kaleidoscope patterns of our footprints in the sand
And those of the seagulls that litter the beach
Like black and white winged pebbles
Are slowly being washed away by the rising water line,
Time and the encroaching tide welcoming us
Into the sea, with the Dolphins and the mermaids
Swimming and lounging on little mountains of rock
Close to the shore, beckoning us into their world.

Our world lies further back, behind the tide line,
The umbrellas and sunscreen and such
To shield us from the blazing sun
That sustains all life in their realm and ours,
And is, perhaps, the first and strongest connection we share
In this blinding world of sand and sunshine,
Where we and them become us.

We wade into the sea, all tentative, coltish legs
And shivers as the waves crash over us.
Everything turns magical as we dive in,
The underwater world blinding us with
It's salty, sandy currents and steams,
But through the rose tint borne
Of our foreignness in this place,
All I can see are dreams coming true.

A lady of the sea paddles up to us,
Offering us her treasures if we'll come
Live in her coral home and breathe the same salt water,
And I, lost in her world, found in her beauty,
Reach out to take her pale hand in mine,
And become as she says,
"I am yours, forever now, as you are forever mine."

Even if its just dream, even if you’re a dream
Let me dream of you
Until all the events become memories
Until I can’t get to see you even if I want to
Until all that is left is me and my torn heart
Let me love you until then
Even if separation is destined
Let me live this moment with you
Even if you end up being someone else last name
Let me call you mine for a second
Let me look at you with all my strength
For tomorrow I now know that you won’t be there anymore
I now know that sun would shine at same time, same place but you won’t be there to watch it with me
I now know that the songs that we are listening would always remain the way they are but we won’t
I now know that world is not changing it’s our treacherous heart that stops feeling the way it once felt.
So let me cherish you with all that I have until one of us doesn’t feel the way we feel
And when that day would come I would turnout in to bubbles and disappear just like a mermaid
But to me you would always remain a midsummer night dream
Warm, sweet and tempting yet short in existence
to the person, who came like Black knight and became midsummer night dream
Wait for me
Behind the trees
Of Winter's end
In the meadows
Of Summer's wake
Find me
Beneath the water
Where maids sing
A song of desire
Luring deeper in
The mystery
Of your love
Where there is
A kingdom
Of gold
I remember
To find the door
Through the meadows
Behind the trees
There you will be

There are three types of lies,
You're honing each one as time flies,
I have been intimate with each one of yours.

The first is the simplest lie,
You kept repeating it time and again,
I lost count of the times you said, "I love you."

The second is the **** lie,
This one is more complex and deceitful,
Even you lost count of saying, "I love you forever."

And the third one is called the Statistics,
As afterwards, you kept blaming its demise on me,
Many times I heard, "Countless times you forgot about me."

I never intended to blow the whistle on you,
But last night you said it on call that I kept forgetting,
I'd have forgotten my virginity or its loss before my accident,
But one thing I simply could not have ever forgotten,
I had become someone else from your own name.

But I hear a faint melody from a distant place,
Maybe a mermaid sings it softly for me,
Or who knows another barmaid!

Scared to death I am of love,
Neither can I bear another betrayal,
Nor can my heart now be a loveless barren.

I am tossed upon the tempest
I am tested on the tide
I have heard the ocean restless
I will by the sea abide

But I long for drier shorelines
Far from sandy bottoms deep
For a tower wrapped in rose vines
Above a sunny keep

I have played in water shallowed
I have frolicked in the spray
But while this sea to me is hallow'd
My heart draws me far away

My soul is meant for moonglow
My heart the  sunny glade
But my home lies far below
Where the coral reefs are made

And never shall I leave it
This realm of wave and foam
For my dreams may be on land lit
But the ocean is my home
Floating, like a specimen,
in a bell jar in the Chemistry Lab
of Grade XI in Lucknow.

I am suspended. I am floating.

Everywhere is blue.

I hear bubbles and see them rise.

I open my mouth and water rushes in,
salty and warm. I can’t speak.
I can’t cry out.

I am drowning.

I think of Varanasi; skulls
that float. Why do dead
skulls float? Why do the living
sink?

I want to rise. The sea
is inky black. An octopus
floats by. A school of clown
fish gaze at me curiously.

I think of swimming
like the fish in a warm ocean
in the Andaman Sea. I hear
laughter, I feel the sun on my
shoulders.

Oh, the sun. I miss the sun.
I crave heat. It is so very
cold. It is so very cold.

I feel something warmer
on my lower back. I look.
A dolphin is smiling.
Yes, smiling!

I look down at myself.

I am a mermaid!
My hair is blonde, my waist
is tiny, and my *******
are encased in shells.

I laugh gleefully.
The dolphin, as if on cue,
swims below me
and I mount him.

And then, like we have been
doing this since time immemorial,
our bodies in sync,
we float upwards.

Joy abounds. An effervescence,
a lightness of spirit, a playfulness
that heals.

The water is getting warmer
and paler. We playfully swim
with all the time in the world.

And as I surface for the air
that I don’t need,
I am full of peace.

He is an underwater being,
who left behind a life in a lovely land,
adapted to the demands of marine myths,
still an alien, largely frowned up on,
enamored by the coral reef rendezvous
they first met and hopelessly
fell in love.
                    She is a cursed mermaid,
that wants him to teach her only this
as a love gift; flawless  moon walk
through the night sky of ocean depth.

Once there stood a Sailor,
Tall and Bold he was,
Upon the waves was his home,
Eye of the storm he was.
Some called him Charming,
Cindrella was in love,
Sindbad wanted a friend
SnowWhite could'nt succumb.
Jasmine searched the seven seas
To bring him back to ground,
And Alladin pushed him underneath
Hoping he'll fall.
But there stood a Mermaid,
Upon a stubborn rock,
Her eyes were like wet sand
Her nose a pebble soft,
She lured the hearty sailor,
Into the sea so dark,
Hoping he would see a world
Where he never had to stop,
Hoping he would call it home,
His home upon the rocks.
He wore his mighty hat aboard,
Underneath he was at flight,
Fought the world of challenges,
With his awe-some sight,
To all he was a Sailor,
A person in disguise,
Wid arms like boulders
And chest fierce
But light..
You would ask
What's their story,
Well here goes,
It might be right,
But Sailor met the Mermaid,
Mermaid fell in love,
Love is what sailed along,
Under the waves of lust,
In a world so arid
It turned hearts dry,
He searched for a place to swim
Where he could also fly,
He swam with the mermaid
Into the glassy ****,
Glossy waters
And coral reefs,
After years of gliding by
He decided to stop,
Not to make him stop,
the Mermaid cried a lot..
The sailor found a new place,
A place called a 'Road',
She thought their adventure was over,
And the Sailor was lost,
She tried to tell him,
Asked him to stop,
For she was no longer she,
Plural now she was,
She cudnt tell him
For he was in a hurry,
And about everything
He forgot..
But alas!
Was she happy
She saw the Sailor pray,
The prayer wasnt an ordinary one
He wanted for her to stay,
He'd seen Her world
For years together,
He now wanted her to see,
His own world of wonders
Above the choppy sea..
He prayed that She could
Join him
With no other blocks,
The only thing he wanted..*
"If only she could walk",
She cried and cried
In the sea of course
She knew that wasn't possible,
She knew He was lost..
One morning she woke up
Washed up on the shore,
The sea no longer wanted her
She was thrown.
She'd seen the seas too much,

Now it was time for her to go,

To Walk with the Sailor
With new legs, aboard.
Happiness got the best of her,Tears would'nt stop,
He caught her arms,
Pulled her up,
And showed her how to walk.

*She told him he had to love her,
And two other people too,
The Sailor was astonished
He dint know what to do!
A few days later
He did understand,
They were now four,
A bundle of all,
Joy had at last rejoiced!
He gave her a pearl,
From the very sea she came from,
To remind her of That world,
She accepted and
Now they were one mind,
A family,
One of a kind..
this is a real story..half of which we have completed and half is left for us to complete..a must read..
