Ugh
I think I'm good at it,
And I am for a while,
But then I see a problem
And I just can't figure it out.
I don't know what to do.
So then I realize maybe
I'm not that good at it.
I'm not that smart maybe.
And then I wonder
Is it just me?
It is everyone?
Or am I just stupid?
Because I used to be good at it.
It used to be easy,
But now, I never know what to do.
It's so hard.

I hate Math.
Did I get you? I was talking about Math the entire time. :)

A moment takes up no time
A moment takes up no space
Infinite moments disappear instantly
because anything times zero is zero;
Yet
In a moment lives begin
and end
In a moment love blossoms
and dies
and
In a moment
eternities collide
Teaching non-mathematicians about the principles of calculus and this was a result
Two plus two is four

One plus one equals two

And perhaps it's also true

That love is equal to me plus you.
I can't help this feeling for you. I'm sorry that I'm like this...

The weight of the heavens
set on the scales of time
reduced to facts and figures

what once was celestial majesty
has become mathematical
precision and location of the stars

The universe and it’s beauty reduced
to the base of all its atoms within
what we questioned is now quantified
Just finished my astronomy unit one test. I suppose these are my thoughts so far. It’s fascinating to think that the stars were gods and spirits to people, but now I’m calculating their distance and evaluating their chemistry.

i live in a constant state
of ignoring deadlines
and instead taking my due dates
with poetry

every excursion leaves me thinking
what a day, what a night
what a thought, what a line
what a moment.

what if i use this or that rhyme?
i find it sublime, i have lost track
of time, but found me in spaces
carved out between lines
the moments between thought
of whats next in my mind
what word would be one of a sort?
i assort them -

they advance. i am weak,
they assemble. these words a worthy match for me
win me over - i rage no war
just wave my flag, surrender once more
we have done this before, a repeat, i am familiar
i know better, but i am a word *****.
self control is out the door
and i let him walk. i hope he runs far away
so my words and i can stew a bit longer.
i don't want it to end. i am tired of talking in numbers.
i am tired of making sense. i just want to play.
lets have a word day. or two, or three, or five.
i can multiply words if you give me the chance
professor, accept my submittance. my poems provide
no wrong answers. no prompt, sit and listen.
maybe its your turn.
i can't stop writing, and i am a little concerned.

An idea that everything has an answer
defined by a set of numbers all together
letters and ideas mesh with them
creating all that is and will ever be
a solution to all even if it isn't found
the ability to make new variables
to make sense of all the nonsense
symbols that make up the connection
such comfort in knowing this now
that everything has a defined answer
no guesses and no wish wash maybes
a yes and a no a right and a wrong one
mathematics can solve all of it for us
math is everywhere and that is lovely
I'm not very good at math, but I thinks it's beautiful. The idea that everything in life has a defined straight forward answer. It's in chemistry, physics, medicine, statistics, and even in our language formats. It's nice to know there is something that will always have a right or wrong answer. There isn't any guessing or risks if you do it right.

1/23/2020 - Poetry form: Alliteration - Poetry form: Alliteration - Each poem in my Alliterative Alphabet Series describes conversations between two or more people while only using words that start with the first letter of the title of the poem. I’m publishing the poems as I write them on Wattpad.com, not necessarily in alphabetical order. My goal is to write at least 26 poems to cover each letter of the alphabet. I hope you find the concept interesting, maybe even clever. Most of all I hope you enjoy them :) - © 2020 by Mark Toney. All rights reserved.
