All I ask
Is when I die
Sing to me
A lullaby.
Something soft
And something sweet
Just please
Be discreet.
For it will be
My last goodbye
The final moment
Of you and I.
So all I ask
Is when I die
Sing to me
A lullaby.

Sleeping silver clouds,
along rivers of sweet light-
the evening chimes.

Between here and there
Between us, now and then
Invisible walls of life exists
Our hearts beat in harmony
Tangled in the distant dreams
Draped in your intoxication
My favourite nightmare.

Shadows come dancing,
and twilight draws near.
But your tiny candle smiles,
and scares away your fears.
And as I wait, with the moonlight
ever gleaming,
I can't help but ask,
"What are you dreaming?"

Are you a man,
traveling to the ends of the earth?
Or are you a boy,
sleeping delicately by the hearth?

Are you a knight,
following the morning lark?
Or are you a sailor,
preparing to embark?

Are you a wizard,
muttering your wild spells?
Or are you a warrior,
seeking out violence to quell?

Are you a gardener,
caressing sweet leaves of thyme?
Or are you a troubadour,
weaving together blissful rhymes?

Are you a king,
childishly ruling over your courts?
Or are you a fool,
commanding the jokes the aristocrats afford?

And yet, I can only ask,
of the thoughts in your mind,
as I continue with my task,
of watching over time.

Sing me a lullaby
Let the lion lay down
Till the sun graces the sky
There's not a care to be found

Sing me a lullaby
As the day slowly fades
Darkness reclaims the sky
The star's dance and cascade

Sing me a lullaby
The sun surrenders
The moon claims the sky
Yesterday is only the remembers

Sing my a lullaby
As I drift off into slumber
Looking at the Diamond filled sky
Listening to the beat of the drummer

Sing me a lullaby
As you lay down beside me
Love so immense it fills the sky
To my locked heart, you are the key

Last night I heard the ocean
Serenade the moon
A song sung on lips of salty waves
Accompanied by the breath of
Soprano winds
A song of cerulean nights
And silver clouds
That crescendos with every
Crash of endless tides
And sounds like the cleansing
Of the Earth
Cicadas singing
a nighttime lullaby
sending me off to sleep

Eternal seas of tears cried by mothers singing lullabies,
The sun sets in the sky, never revealing  the secrets it hides.
A river flows down a mountain,
Into the everlasting fountain of lies,
No one will ever be righteous in the eyes of the misplaced child,
Who's mother sang her  a lullaby.
This poem is about a close friend of mine who's Father died when she was very very young, when she was growing up her mother would sing a song to her  that her father loved, she grew up never to trust anyone because of what happened to her father, and once told me that not even her mother was righteous of her trust.

I was tired enough to weep
He still looked me in the eye
My baby boy only got his sleep
From the music of the lullaby

Even after we said the prayers
Many minutes did pass by
But he was soon taken unawares
By the magic of the lullaby

Yes, he's had milk to drink
And the comfort of a good cry
Now, his eyes close in sync
To the melody of the lullaby

I bestow on him a loving kiss
I tiptoe out and tell him bye
I owe this sweet rest and peace
To the miracle of the lullaby
My baby boy is a tough one to soothe to sleep. I've had to try many methods. The lullaby once came through for me and kept him asleep for a good while! :-)
