You were white paper
I smiled, flames licked you up
Innocence is ash
....
Poetry to me
Is all the unspoken words
Written on paper
....
Anything is sweet
In a voice spun of sugar
Made you candyfloss
....
I never minded
That it wasn't fairy tales
I still felt magic
....
Mummy held my hand
The pictures sighed so sadly
The other was empty
This is a random assortment of some haikus I wrote. None of which I felt deserved their own post, but rather a place in a variety pack.
Titles (in order)

GULA

Castor and Pollux
joined forever at the hip.
I could split myself
into two halves just
so they could each get a taste.
I will etch into
both their ribs and lungs
so when they exhale, it’s my
name that warms their breath.

ACEDIA

I have done nothing
but consult oracles to
find a solution
and like Oedipus
I will sit here on my throne
to repeat fathers'
sins. Dear God, am I
the miasma that reeks here?
Would I change, if so?

LUXURIA

Eros and Psyche
have yet to match us, dear boys.
In confessional,
I speak of the flesh-
bruised like rotting fruit, marks
of desperate youth.
Heads bowed in prayer,
this is Dionysiac
ritual madness.

AVARITIA

Will Hades greet me?
If I spit coins from my mouth,
will the ferryman
take pity on me?
He must know my odyssey.
This is déjà vu,
a fable passed down
by generations. A hymn,
Homeric and worn.

IRA

Adonis river
runs red like veins filled with blood.
The anemones
for my two brothers,
a crown for each of them to
decorate their heads
before guts are spilled.
I know this will end in war,
no glory for me.

INVIDIA

Heroes never die,
they say. So was Heracles
jealous of Linus?
To know forever,
to escape the throes of death
sounds like Hell to me.
What lives on except
curses and their tragedy?
I am no hero.

SUPERBIA

I will take my fire,
let it blaze until I die.
Prometheus would
have been proud of me.
Maybe from this, I will kindle
something from the heat:
Write poems in ash,
for the ones I have scalded,
or the ones I love.

(Maybe those two things
are not unlike after all.
Maybe so, maybe not.)

Sweet Sibyls of eld
who sing of mysteries held
My envy flowers

How I yearn to see
The written future for me
Miracles and pain

Do I want to know?
What you see in crystal *****?
The magic's in me...
A set of haiku's based on my walk around my local area. A woman was handing out leaflets about palm-reading, the whole sha-bang.
It got me thinking...  few years ago, I believed that people can see the future through a crystal ball. Now, though I believe in the supernatural (that there is something more to this world and beyond), I realised that I'd rather not know. The true magic to make my future lies within me and me alone...

Light softly dimming
From bright rays to gentle brush
The night has come
A haiku

Clearly I recall
the value "it" already made
for me so I know.

She kept slapping and
Throwing things at me so I
Kissed her and she stopped.

Ahh... yeah. Kind of the
Reason why I thought you were
Older honestly.

Cats walk by putting
Both right feet forward and then
Both left feet forward.

I was unaware
I was being annoying,
My apologies.

But then again, in
That case you can use your socks
To kinda itch them.
A collection of accidental haikus I found. Some were mine, others were said by other people.

You for a moment
Become the great love of my life
Then I die again
_________

I in the background
Barely passing into frame
Did you see me there
_________

You brought me hot tea
Giving each other soft smiles
I want to kiss you
_________

My body shaking
My mind screaming I LOVE YOU
My lips shut eternal
_________

I fall for strangers
Blind to the ones at my door
My heart in the wind

Hi, I'm Samantha.
I like to write poetry.
Maybe you do too?

It started quite some
Time ago when I thought to
Put words on paper.

Now I'm here, writing
Some simple little haikus
For everybody.

I hope you enjoy
My collection of poems.
Please have a nice day.
I'm so happy to finally be a part of the Hello Poetry community!

beauty is found from within

::::::::::::::::::::::::

Nary a frog croaks
terra cotta garden lamp
selfishly, glows dim.

a striped gastropod
stretched longer, out of its shell
braver....in the dark

neighbors' dogs howl deep,
gecko sings its night songs loud
bats crash...swoop their prey.....

unseen black cats cross
there's no wind, yet...leaves rustle
shadows multiply

the dark feeds the mind
superstition lives...it breathes
moon hides...........i shall, too...

...it's like, my dead folks are still around when observing
these superstitious beliefs...they had such great influence on us,
    we never forget....
