American school bombings
London stabbings
Gaza shootings
North Korea missile launching
Russian poisoning

So many broken counties

Lying politicians
Teenage pregnancies
Kids cutting
Child *******
Babies born as addicts

So many broken people

Air Pollution
Ice caps melting
Diminishing resources
Global warming
Seas of *******

So many broken things in the world
One day people will look and wonder how the world with so much love and beautiful things became so broken

Under smoldering red desert skies
Earthquake-like tremors displace sand
And giant gears pulling wide treads give rise
To a towering, onyx colored machine of man.

A scientific prophecy once foretold
That the oceans and trees could be killed
And in its toxic love of black gold
Humanity granted this prophecy fulfilled.

It used to warm our bodies and minds
But now, our sun is something to fear
Our lives and colossal machines combine
And chances of survival remain unclear.

For military rule has exploited
Our natural will to fight and survive
They’ve usurped us and anointed
Themselves rulers of the inside.

What’s left of our once great society
Roams the Earth in onyx colored arcs
Scientists try to return Earth’s sobriety
As we wage war for oligarchs.

Terrorism between 3 arcs ensues
As each believes the one to solve
The problem of an Earth abused
Will become ruler by forceful resolve.

I've had ideas fleshed out for this one for a while. Finally got around to writing it!

A green chair in space,
Is out of its place,
Like the emerald button, haloed on you wall.
Why are you longing for

a Solid seat,
That gravity ‘cannot be beat’,
That you dare to face this heat.

When
You
         Could be
                                          free
Wheeling in space
   Taking in
                   the
                         jumbled chaos all over
                                 The place as
                       would a
        Child on
                A bouncy
                           Castle.

Your Garden is green,
So why press the button
And kickstart the process before
your eyes,
A process that had already begun.
A fun improv poem, when I was sat in a coffee shop with a green wall and I spotted a green button on the wall.
Something to do with Global Warming or 'ignorance is bliss'.

The river winds in from distant lands
With mercyless power it turns stone to sand
Through its mysterious life, the very earth it commands
And Yet the fearful river still runs through our hands.
In torrents of furry where the deepest currents flow
The rivers wild waters surge with woe. For
Onward, forever, its destined to go
A permenant home it won't ever know.

The river runs from each of us
As a refugee of fear,
It knows in a blink it will be somewhere else
Its waves are really its tears.
It runs from the audacity
Of the selfish human mind
As Its massive life capacity,
Of flora and fauna combined,
Are threatened by our antics and helpless to our crime
So the river runs on their behalf, from everyone, in time-

even within its whitecap foam
Water's yearning for a home

So roam does the water- endlessly,
till its long gone out of sight
The essential droplets of the river-
Nomads day and night.

No Future

No future, no future;
There’s no future for us to look forward to.
No future, no future;
There’s no future for us to chase.
No future, no future;
There’s no future for us to save.

Live your life like a Shakespeare tragedy;
Romeo and Juliet, staring death in the eyes.
Knowing their love is doomed and that there is no remedy;
The time has come for the world to say goodbye.

A black hole portent in a humanity dream, is showing us our future;
Our world will be swallowed because of our past.
In our present state, we are destined to failure;
There is nothing left to take and we cannot give it back.

Love or hate, feelings are forever changing.
All we can sing is, there is no tomorrow.
The end is nigh, those words are still ringing;
All we ever had they took from us and now we are all left without hope.

listening to the not so enticing news
that basically tells us that authoritarian idiots
are on the rise
     globally

that neither the US nor Europe
are able to handle refugee flows
the proper legal and humanitarian way

that global warming is actually happening
and not just an invention of the Chinese etc.
    in order to misle U.S. American billionaires

that in the future
thanks to advances in technology
only experts in very sophisticated laboratories
will be able to  recognize the difference
between fake news and real news

I DO worry about the world
my grandchildren grow up into

The world we live on

The dinosaurs are dead, frozen in place;
They have gone, to never be replaced.

There is a sinkhole in our planet
And it swallows all beauty within it.
What is happening to our world before our eyes?
And why are we doing nothing to stop it?

We are in the eye of the storm,
We have safety in numbers.
There is a maelstrom so powerful it is eating up the waves
And drowning all the fishes.

A great blue hole in the ocean swallows the water down a whirlpool;
Where is the ocean going?
We have harvested the world of all its goodness
And the human consumption rate is still growing.

The world is dying and we are not crying,
Because it is someone else’s problem.
We are safe in this lifetime,
But our children’s children will die,
Because they have no oxygen.

Maybe a woman. Definitely not a lady.
Always fluid, everchanging
Transient, human, waxing and waning
Dust to dust, the earth is waiting

Skin deviously separating
Lips and eyes and breath recreating the truth
Impermanence, interrelationships between the two of you
Between the hundreds of thousands of beings surrounding and breathing with you
Being with you
Being me
Being this inexorable mix of light and twisted, my fight is rising, round 2 has been gifted
Moving, shifting, intermixed
Lifting my voice to try to fix the never-ending brokenness
The *******, hoes, the tokenness

My ecosystem intertwined
Roots supporting, climbing vines, climbing high
Rise and rise, the end is nigh, lest we fight this beast beside
These children fighting over limbs
Ripping flesh and slicing skin
Removing organs from the breathing earth within

Ive spoken this truth before
But from a shattered soul
I speak now from a podium
Breathing deep and whole

As the winds grow stronger and the snow falls heavy,
as the oceans rise and pour over the levee,
as the sweltering heat makes us sleep in the day
and work in the night, I’ll take your hand and say:
Dance with me in the darkness, until the futile dawn;
sing while I play guitar, we don’t have long.
Read your poems to me while we have a little time;
we have no future, but we still have rhyme.
Let’s drink a toast, or two, to what might have been,
and what once was, before our time turned grim
Let’s plunder the pharmacy, or eat the magic mushroom;
don’t go into the night easy, but don’t rage at the moon.
Let’s savor all the moments, as our destiny arrives.
Let’s not waste another minute of our precious time alive.

An open door
Green of day steeps into a grassy aroma
A familial air whizzing through shared city streets

The papers greet a house down the block and
I can't help but wonder if the news
Has reached them yet:

--The earth is wilting and
It will rain today--

I board the 91
Coffee buzzing in my lungs

--The house we've built is wilting and
Wigged men are lining us up--

A workingwoman sits behind me
A toddler bumbling about her lap
She looks past me, but I answer anyway:

"The people are wilting and
Time is sitting still"

Reflection on what I've observed of the world (as of yet), on my usual route to work. Hopeless? How are others reacting? Are we oblivious? Willing?
