I remember how the sky cried
The mournful day my Nene died.
It sobbed and grieved; thought not prolonged.
Soon sunlight, through the darkness, dawned
As thought the tears had simply dried.

At once I wondered, scornfully, "Why?"
How dare you cease your crying, Sky!
How simply could the world go on?
Then I remembered...

My struggle, isn't her's. It's mine.
I hurt because I'm left behind.
For she, you see, has moved along
A better place she's set-upon.
Therefore, with mourning cast aside,
I'll remember.
A couple of days ago my grandmother on my dad's side passed away, and I wanted to write a poem about it.

Avant ce jour,
j'ai célébré mon coeur
avec des champs de fleurs,
avec des danses sans peur.

Avant ce jour,
j'ai célébré mon esprit,
avec la chanson d'un canari,
avec la sorcellerie.

Avant ce jour,
j'ai vécu une vie de rêve.

Mais ce jour est venu,
et mon coeur est devenu inconnu.
I thought i'd put my french skills to the test and create a poem in french. I mostly just attempted to keep a rhyme scheme more than anything else. All mistakes are my own.
English translation:

Before this day
I celebrated my heart
with fields of flowers
with dances without fear

Before this day
I celebrated my mind
with the song of a canary
with witchcraft

Before this day
I lived a life of dreams.

But, this day has come
and my heart has become unknown.

Did you know I wrote a poem yesterday?
I wrote of how a raven flew away.
I think t'was in the morning that it flew.
I don't know why it made me think of you,
But all I can think of is yesterday.

I can't finish it; not to my dismay.
I don't seem to finish many these days.
Every day I seem to think of you...
Did you know?

Even this... I hate it... It's cliche.
Every thought and feeling gone astray...
I keep running from the one thought that's too...
It's nothing that, it seems, I can subdue.
Oh, all the things that I wanted to say.
Did you know?
One of my first rondeaus. They're hard to write but like most french poems once you get the structure down they're a fun little exercise.Try it!

j’ai rêvé tu et moi nous sommes embrasses
c’était merveilleux et surréaliste
j’ai réveillée et j’ai trouvé c’est faux
et maintenant, je suis…perdue

-

i dreamt you and i kissed
it was marvelous and surreal
i woke up and i found it's false
and now, i am... lost
This is rough because I'm only in my second semester of French, but I hope the meaning is still there

He looked at me in French...
with those sultry eyes
and pouty lips.

He was a villain I tell you
a curse!

Je suis amoureux de quelqu'un que je ne peux pas avoir.

Tu vois la lune ?
Sa grâce, son élégance.
son allure, aussi vulnérable que celle d'un enfant.
Et pourtant, elle brille et fait briller le monde entier.
Translation:
Enchanted by the moon
You see the moon?
her grace, her elegance.
her countenance, as vulnerable as that of a child.
And yet she shines and shows her brilliance to the world.
