I am a man.
I am a man who does not love.
Who cannot love.
For, I am a man.

I am a man.
Hence, I am not allowed to love,
To show emotion,
To feel.
For then, I’d be a *****.

I am a man.
I must be masculine.
I must be a stunner.
I must be callous.
For if not, I’d be a loser.

I am a man.
I cannot be skinny.
I cannot be fat.
I cannot care about my appearance, but I must look good.
For if not, I’d be a loner.

I am a man.
I cannot respect my wife.
For then I’d be under her thumb.
I am a man who cannot love another.
For then I’d be a criminal.

Is it that wrong
to simply love
without boundaries, without expectations?

Are we that heartless
that gender can force us to behave in a certain manner?

Are we that naive, that
we really believe phrases like
‘all men are heartless’ and
‘men are animals’?

No.
Sexism isn’t about women being oppressed by men.
Just like feminism isn’t about women being greater than men.
Discrimination, gender policing, societal pressure
are good for neither ***.
But then why do we put up with it?
It’s time for a change.
Be that change.

Sincerely,
The man who dares to love.
This is my first poem that does not rhyme. I'm experimenting with new writing styles and felt something like this theme would be perfect to try out first. The poem is split into two parts, the part in first person where it is more of a poem and then a general message out for the world. Hope you like it, do critique :)
Thank you :D

One little posy
Stood still in place
Afraid of the pain
All these thorns could inflict

One little posy
Grew tired and weak
It realized its doom
And gave up so soon

One little posy
Got choked up by thorns
In a bush of roses
Where it did not belong

Something was wrong.
I had an idea of what it was.
But I said “Impossible, how could this be?”
Whispers filled the room,
over here,
over there.
No eye contact was made.
Silence.
No one wished to speak.
But as long as my secret was with me I felt safe.

I was wrong. It was not safe.
I couldn’t hide what I felt,
I never usually could.
Tears streamed down my face like a river.
What for?
Like a snail I crawled into my shell.
Concealed from the world, where no one but myself could hurt me.
This silver thing glistened in my hand and with a smile,
my work was done.
It was like crimson red, flowed so freely.
I wish I was that free.
This was my only help.

The day faded and a new day was born.
Little did I know that trouble was knocking at my door.
Questions were asked.
A lot.
Harsh statements were made.
Laughter here and there.
Obviously, the cat was out of the bag.

That which is true surpasses time because it cannot be destroyed.
Just like our words...
They might torture, cage, and even ****** us.
But the one thing they cannot take is our soul.
Death will come,
but our words will never die.
Our soul will live on and resonate in others.
The words that we have spoken can never be taken.
Our soul will always be free.

Normal?
What does it mean to be normal?

What is normal?
Normal to you, may not be normal to me.

From the life of the simple,
Formal, may not be normal.

From the views of the formal,
Simple may be looked down upon,
Frowned upon.

Judging one another based on normality,
A life created on formalities,
Complications, Discrimination.
All because of our definition of normal?

Definition of
normal-
           1.  conforming to a standard; usual,          typical, or expected.

"Usual?", "Expected?", "Typical?".
Hypocritical!

Normal?
Does it even exist?
Why do we persist- to have our definitions of what normal is?
And what it isn't?

Normal-
**What is it?
Everyone is different. That Is the beauty of life. Though the beliefs of normality in some people lead to discrimination,  bullying, war etc.
