Because it's the little things
That mean so much.
We've just got to be brave enough
To take that step
And bridge the distance.

I was sitting in the bus
Tears held back.
They smiled at me
They gave me paper cranes
Made from bus tickets
They reached out.

He was  brave face, drowning
I paid it forwards
He took my offering
"His name is Scruffy"
No questions, just acceptance
It felt right somehow
He hugged it close.

A line of strength and support.
A hug, a smile, an invitation.
An open ear, a look of compassion.
- Something to show that we,
Other humans that we are,
We care.
We see your suffering and
We care.
It's these
Tiny.
Little.
Things.
They bridge the gap.
They mean the world.
Thank you Matthew Rae and friend. And thank you to all the rest of you who have supported me during hard times.
Can you be so kind, as to let go
of your own ego, that wily old foe
and put your head to the ground, if needs be
to hear the pain, of a man all at sea?

Can you be so loving, as to forget
your own desires, without regret
and step into the fire, if needs be
to soothe away the pain, of a heart much aggrieved?

Can you be so calm, as to not care
for your own fears, and truly dare
to leave behind all you know, if needs be
and run to the rescue, of a child in need?

Can you be so strong, as to ignore
all the aches and pains, all the cuts and sores
and rise again and again, if needs be
to give a helping hand, to the tired and weak?

Can you be so brave, as to look through
the bluff and bluster, of men cruel
and call a ***** a *****, as it should be
and risk a beating, for the cause of the meek?

If you can, come with me my friend
we shall walk to every corner of every land
we shall keep going till we can go no more
and spread Love, let that magic untold, unfold
Do you know what true compassion is?

The broken
and the odd
seem to cross my paths more than most.
For each and every riposte
that I deliver past the ever advancing guard
of Fate,
there is a blow that slips through my vigil
and hits me square upon the heart.
Each of these damaged souls is a part of my
grand design.
I find happiness in giving them love
and acceptance they've never known.
I find their problems to me mine
and their tears shed from my own ducts.

I do no see myself as superior to these people.
I see myself as in the position to good,
because under the hood we are still human
and there is no denying someone that.
There will always be an exchange of hats
now and again,
when it is realized that there is
nothing wrong with this
is when anger turns to peace
and sadness to bliss.

They love you more than they love themselves
They only want what's best for you
They treat you with respect
But toughen you when it's required to
They stress you not because they're punishing you
But because they're worried about you
They sometimes spoil you
Because they love to see you smile
They feed you a meal x3 a day
And buy you your favorite chocolate milk
Which makes you happy to hangout with them
Instead of being with your friends playing video games

But now things changed

You're all grown up
Fussing and screaming all day
Because you don't want to do your homework
You want to play outside with your mates
The moment you walkout from the front door of your home
You're invisible and uncontrollable
With no curfew. You're always late

But things have changed

All of a sudden you're an old man
With a wife, 3 kids and a dog
It's all heavy on your shoulders
Lifting all the weight
Struggling with your work
And then coming back home
To your wife and 3 kids
But it isn't all that great
Cause they constantly cause problems
And dont appreciate your sweat
And that's when you remember
All the days you spent
Being arrogant, selfish and stubborn to your parents
How you raised their heart rate
And raised your voice on them to the highest level
As if you were special
And now you ask yourself "how didn't I notice?"
You were too blind to see
Too cold to feel and
Too deaf to hear
All the struggle your parents went through

But things are now stable

*Wasn't it all worth the wait.
I know that I went out of rhythm in this one but it's all to express emotion! There is no greater gift than for a person than to have such loving parents, step parents or even grandparents. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing this. :)

can anyone tell me
why East and West are fighting?
in an indisputably Round world
going West far enough
will put you in the East
and vice versa

in a round view of things
people of the east
need the same things
as people of the west
and what about the middle people?
what do they need?
roundly the same I'd say

so roundly I also say
otherness is to be avoided
otherness to be voided
replaced by roundness
roundness is to be embraced
all around the world

so I'll start
and put my arms around you
like a circle around the sun
for I am
as round as you

My friend, my LOVE!

You're asleep and I sit here looking at you.
Flipping through the pages of your past,
my heart bleeds for you
tears well in my eyes for you.

I've seen the things you have,
experienced it all,
lived it all - at your side.

You, my friend,
my dearest friend -
I've known you all your life

You show mercy,
even to the smallest creature
you fight for the weak and helpless

I just wish you could show yourself that mercy
show yourself the love and compassion
you so freely do for others

For you deserve it!
The stuff you've endured
the life you've had
and challenges you've faced,
would have broken lesser men

Now I lay you down to sleep
maybe to be released again
in the morning's early hours
when your defences are down!

For in the day,
you keep me locked behind our eyes
you cage me in our heart,
you silence me
and I stare in horror as you flog us
beat and punish us
and deal harshly with us
for stuff that hasn't always been our fault.

Tomorrow morning, reading this
please show yourself some mercy
you're not that bad
you might even be better than you know
even deserving of **love
from me to me.  From the me that is locked up, chained up and silenced, so that I can can deal with the world.  Restrained, so that I can pick up the sword and fight another day

Tick-tock
Went the clock
The day I wanted to stop.

The pitter-patter,
Chitter-chatter.
The walks,
The squaks
And the all 'important talks'
The day I wanted to stop.

Intrusion, confusion, pollution
And social 'evolution'
The day I wanted to stop.

The swearing, the caring.
The 'how are you faring?'
The day I wanted to stop.

The girl, the boy.
That unexpected smile.
Kindness flowing
Kept me going;
If only for awhile,
On the day I wanted to stop.
A little something I wrote on my birthday.

You came into the bathroom
And took the blade from my hands
You left me in shock
And returned with the
Mickey Mouse band aids
And a box of tissues.
You turned on the faucet
And as the water turned red
You just stared at me
You bandaged me up
And you stared again
Until I started telling you
The whole story
And when I was done
You just stared
And then you did something extraordinary.
You started to cry.
