A caterpillar
Scared of the world.
Going through
The same routine.
Eating and
Always in
The same place.

The caterpillar
Learns
And begins
To stray.
Exploring
Growing
Becoming more.

A chrysalis
Around the
Brave caterpillar
It needs time
To sleep
To dream
Before the big change.

A broken chrysalis.
A butterfly
Spreads its
New wings.
Free
To fly
To live.
I created this poem as a kind of metaphor for myself. I used to be very anxious about getting outside of my comfort zone, but I am now spreading my wings and becoming more.

My friend and I have names for each other when we need to channel our inner divas.  Mine is Beyonce Pad Thai.

Beyonce Pad Thai doesn’t care what you think because she’s too busy caring about what she thinks!

Beyonce Pad Thai doesn’t put up with your **** because **** is literally digested waste and she demands undigested life.  The life you use to the fullest without any waste!

Beyonce Pad Thai has goals you didn’t even know were possible.  She knows they’re possible because she writes them down every. single. day.  She works towards them every. single. day. and the universe gives her exactly what she asks for.

Beyonce Pad Thai doesn’t take offense to your words because she knows words come out of us and therefore they live in us and when we exhale them they’re more about us than the person they hit on the way out.

Beyonce Pad Thai is so awesome and fun she knows time spent with her is a gift.  When she gives you that gift and your lack of appreciation is apparent she has no problem taking it away and giving that gift to others.

Beyonce Pad Thai is done talking about you now.  She wants to find herself, in the crack of a newly opened book, in the b flat of a new flute song, in the sizzling sounds of a new recipe, in the times new roman of a dream job offer, in the middle of a twirl during her new favorite song, in the new comfort outside her comfort zone.

Every day you could wake up and choose
To try something new; What have you to lose?
Or you could just stay in your comfort zone,
Do for all your days all you've ever known.

Whatever you choose either way is fine,
It is up to you; It's your life not mine.
But do not forget... Life is for living;
To have no regrets the ultimate thing.

I was scared.
People around me noticed it.
They told me to try going out of my comfort zone.
To step outside the box.
I was scared.
But I gave a shot.
Now Im outside the box.
Wondering my existence.
Roaming around at every corner.
I was scared.
One wrong move
I might fail.
But I realized
I wasnt scared.
It's just in my head.
Because everything outside the box was
All my happiness.
I was once afraid of risking.
And it's you.

Day's Work Is Done...

Sun is setting,
Feet are fueled up...with enthusiasm
Thoughts are filled with pictured expectations,
To be met at the door with warm hugs and kisses
A hot meal on the table...steaming coffee awaits
All these, comfort my fatigued limbs and minds.
A smile, in anticipation ...a sense of *****
Atmosphere tickle my mind...i hurry
To enter my safe ground...my comfort zone
My own White Picket Fences.

They may have  tiny fractures
Some boards missing, broken, or collapsed,
Its concrete floors and walls may be creviced
I can not shun........or hide from
Imperfect truths, about my family,
Our relationships, our health.....every truth
About my loved ones and me...

It is where i come home to...
After each struggle's end
My feet and mind take me back...to my own,
My known familial boundaries...

An inner force spurs me to make those broken boards
Upright...firm once again......like hardwood trees,
Be unshaken by water and wind....be unwavering
Then, i repaint them
...to bring back the glow.

Some broken fences could still be fixed
some are worthy of fixing; but,
There are those that seem to be, beyond repair
needing some kind of intervention.

If I have a hard day at work,
Or a fight with a friend,
I wait to get back home,
Just to be alone.

I put on some scented candles,
And some soothing french music,
Then get into my bathtub,
My comfort zone.

For it's the only space,
I can be my complete self,
No one to make small talks,
No one to play any games.

Its when I am able to make a decision,
Its when I can think wisely,
I love how it calms my heart,
I love how it releases the pain.

I don't need no therapy,
I don't need a friend to talk,
Just need some time by myself,
And I will be whole again.

Natural Originality
With a crazy mentality
Creates a wicked Individuality

When not attached to any wires
It can spread like a wild fire
And it inspires

For those who aren’t afraid
Will be made
Others will have prayed

That they won’t become just another clone
That they were put out of their comfort zone
And one day these people will be well known
"A comfort zone
is a beautiful place,
but nothing ever grows there..."

What they said was true
the meaning of living
is leaving
but
before my last words cue
I need you to know
that you're my comfort zone
and life starts
when
I finally have the guts
to step outside
and leave you behind.
Rhianecdote Nov 2015
So I'll throw stones,
cause I can already see the cracks.
Aim for them and brace myself
for all that's hailed back
Cause sometimes the best way
to see who you really are
is to see what you do under attack
I won't rely on glass to protect me,
I'll have my own back
Shatter my own shell
Be rid of false Fragility,
Free all the ability
With the agility
Gained from the shield I now lack
There comes a time when every Mime must escape their glass box.
Haha I just clocked this is the same as another poem of mine...Finding Dory moment ... Oh well
