ILLICITE
Matt Oct 2020
Temptation unravels like a flower abdicating her bulb
For to fair maidens, my life I’ve sold
Hold me and dawn your lips upon mine
And let you and me sail through Paris, down the river of her Seine

Warmth I know not, yet nathless I seek Apollo’s chariot mare
And to hunt ‘til dusk at us she stares
Lay here under the veil of twilight
Under the twilight, ‘til the sun lays forth her light, nay any brightness

Follow me down the Rhine, right, follow not to the river of Styx
Rise with me amongst Alps, like Frederick
When I call, will you find us a niche?
Or tell me Atlas has fell, and your thoughts have shattered to pieces?

Endeavor to find my ailing pen and fly to me on winged shoes
I juggle your court, the fastest fool
Woman, I thought you my medicine
But the turmoil you pave, leaves me a reluctant libertine

Here am I, waging a war wherein I will dutifully fail
But for thee, Cupid’s arrow I’d impale
Then in my failure I find discord
Oh how my war ails her, bind me in brass under the lunar cold

How could you forgive me? Wearied, hands I forged flames and scarred your heart
And left you hideously distraught
Should you, I’d build you a throne d’or
And father for us four children, each as innocent as a fleur

Cast me out like the dawn, for in my heart, the wind blows full of sand
Deep in there, your Trojan horse still stands
Down in the earth you will find my soul
You brought your wars-men to lay waste what could have been wonderful

Proud, are you?, for waving the air under my wings upon which I
Climbed to the Sun, in euphoric high
Now to the maze where I still devise
To face your wrath and wrestle your beasts to ensure our love survives

Tis a hopeless cause, I walk like the air on a stale summer day
And I’m dreaming of your sharp green eyes
And I remember your skin like silk
Woven by the Fates; “us,” I thought we were to be bred of the same ilk

Resign to Versailles and sit beneath the Sun King, his brightly “or”
Run to the valley, you did before
And in there find your poisoned lily
Your fallen stars unveil your sympathies; marked by your fleur-de-lis

Stand like a pillar of salt, lick your wounds, and try to quench your thirst
You were born with two snakes in your fists
And you fend off all men; lonesome blues
You deny yourself passion and love, but dress as if he seeks you

I drowned myself beneath a circle of stars, searching for answers
And came upon a ballet dancer
I asked her, “don’t dance in paraphrase”
“Let me see you at réveille, and peer on your inward gaze.”

Show yourself to me, self proclaimed Queen of many-a-mans envy
Your masquerade ***** hide your beauty
You speak endless lies, but show not a man
When you stay behind your dramatic masks, you’ll never know friends again

Throw out your doctrines that bind your immeasurable concerns
Turn off the things you think you have learned
And decide with your mind and your heart
Seek Saturn to announce your mysteries, now then, think like Descartes

My baby passed away
And now I'm feeling blue
My baby passed away
And now I'm feeling blue
I thought she'd be my baby, but she has
Other plans

She hopped aboard a train
And now she's riding West
She hopped aboard a train
And now she's riding West
She said don't do it
Don't buy a ticket

My love's gone forever
Buried six feet deep
My love's gone forever
Six feet underneath
Oh, how she's the death of me
Way she says never

Crows caw
And the women chatter
While trees saw
A thousand matters
And a cats claw
And the wind carries
Whispers old and new
While, there, married
The fools who haven’t a clue
The voices within
Die in ignorance
Surface sighted men
Are idiots to patience
A thousand voices quieted
To the world rested in palms
As no appetites are wetted
We’ve forgotten old psalms
Gone is what matters
Supple sustenance for soul
Replaced by glass shattered
Yet the heart still grows
Nay it starves
For sustenance denied
Chosen laws’ Harvard
And empty A.I.
A thousand voices quieted
Craving cars within
Superficially saturated
Inside your Gods’ light dims
And restless is Morpheus
Emptied is Khemenu’s basin
Writing to your inner Boethius
And the day is out
I’ve been here since night
Watching the thoughtless come about
Enter prison, now returned in sight
Back are the chattering women
Gone is the silent respite
Abandoned is Gods Heaven
Be it not for the last flicker of light
But the Old Ones have spoken
Hymns of liberation
Visions be woven
Songs of man’s abomination
Dance and joy
Lust and pride
Forget the inner boy
Behind left a sight wide
Traded for shallow waters
Cyclopean cities of nigh
Tapped by the unbothered
Phantom of the dead city R’lyeh
Your newfound liberation is devolution
Freedom is your cage
For thoughts ceased their convolution
Once again bound by animal rage
Inward no
Outward tempts
Surface grows
Depth nonexistent
Pretentious know it alls
Who know nothing
In their selfish muse they fall
Without an original thought of something
And the wild kingdom
Expands its reign
Filled by blind fandom
And Zealous feign
The Old One herds it’s sheep
Eyes turned off
Their minds gone to sleep
While the unwilling scoff
They count their days
But the unicorn finds arrogance
For to the cattle they’ll fall prey
For they’ve abandoned their righteous penance
Forget the last as you commit the next
Crime, how soon until the ultimate crime
Hope not for the fallen, for let’s
Wash clean our soul in brine
But prey not fall to the Beast
Of the sea
Ready for your soul feast
To devour your faith and dreams
But still His word you pervert
And winged demon still steals
As His will you subvert
Your life turned into its meal
For they’ve abandoned their gift
Of independence
The point has been missed
And we are all so dependent
God is in the TV
Question and answers that are hard to solve
Oh Darling, please believe me
The darkest hour is right before the dawn
Yourself forgotten
A thousand faces in your mirror
Each day a new allotment
Not your voice, but theirs you hear
Valorless galore
Against the Krakens tide
Because their thoughts matter more
Your true self hides
The bird has rid its wings
A bird it is no more
And forgotten how to sing
A bird it is no more
Lions Pride becomes Hordes Chant
They’ve died and returned a Lich
Not a King, just a scamp
Just another stitch
There, there lies bones apart
Empty within
How can your revolution start
When with yourself you can’t begin
Turn back time
Reach into before
Bathe with the swine
Across a barren shore
Take your hatred out of me
I don’t have to listen
Campaign speech of liberty
Theatre masks gone missing
Love and joy
War and peace
Meat and soy
Sinner and the priest
You are everything
And I am one
Your hate deliberating
Murdered is the one
I am the animal
Who will not be himself
Thought unfathomable
Unrealized hell
Demons whisper in your ear
And I start to hear them
Your will a fulfilled fear
From you, Baal stems
Pride and humility
A spectrums range
Greed and charity
Perspectives change
Across the water
Unfairness praised
Unjust no bother
Open eyes hazed
What’s it then if I find my demise
A number for their ends
Begone to those who dare question
Just a means to their end

Demons build their nest in your throat

Strangulating

Led by a black eyed goat

Baphomet

You sin then renounce your sins

Hypocrisy

And lay down your arms to the battle within

Damnation

'Fore Spring

I remember winter
I long for her razor blade winds
Hands shoved in my pockets
Envious of the furred critters
A scarf and a thick coat
Snow like ghosts on a misty coast

Oh how my feet soak as I cross the frozen sky
To some, the cold air that strangulates
Is enough to make a hardy man want to die
Yet I embrace this dark, quiet state
Lost in her red lips flush against monochromatic nights
As she walks under the pale moonlight

My arm around her
With my coat draped over her
Winter is for her

Virginia
Matt Nov 2020
From the mountains of Utah, you came to Virginia
The land of natures’ ****** beauty and America
You came not to fill your well, but met Pisces, pure as Kenya
And your heart was filled, but you couldn’t handle the weight

From the deserts I flew, and landed in Virginia
And searched not with intent, but found you in suburbia
And you filled my heart, oh, how you filled me with euphoria
Of myself, I did not need help carrying the weight

Your love, heavy as Shenandoah in Virginia
Was as wild as a Chinese firecracker in Spring
But could be as cold as a winter night in Iberia
And it grew heavy on my shoulders, your loving weight

Your heart spoke to me, damaged, with a strange charisma
You harbored a pain from love and brought it to Virginia
You tried to give me some, tried to decipher your enigma
Your love, heavy as piled snow, a burdensome weight

Summer carried a burning warmth that brought you to me
Delighted, I embraced you like our Father heavenly
But winter crept in and brought a chilling cold that painfully,
Had slowed our pace with a nightmarishly freezing breeze

I trekked through the barren wastes that used to be so green
I nearly died trying to find your embers now unseen
I came across them, fading, yet I’d pour on them gasoline
Anything to reignite you, bright and burning queen

Anything to reignite our wholesome emotion
I can’t put it to words, but I give you such devotion
How I long to return to our simple harmonic motion
And fend off the damning fears of your baseless notions

Yet still when night dawns upon me, restlessness befells
A demon whisks me out of bed and carries me to Hell
Even when in her light, I drown in insecurities’ well
And the black waters that consume me smother my yell

When I wake, I wake to a hungering confusion
My mind numbed by my paranoia and disillusions
I know they’re phantoms, even still I can’t find a solution
God, woman! Get out of my mind!

Yet I digress, for of this woman I am obsessed
But I don’t know what to do, so should my love be confessed?
God, the fear in my heart... Michael give me courage to resist
And cast out these doubts and strengthen my faith in the Lord

My troubles ferry me across the stormy, harsh, sea
As always, I’m drowned by a woman who don’t care for me
And I put on the chains myself, knowingly, as if proudly
Yet here I write, complaining, nay setting my soul free

Steam ghost

The ghosts of leftover heat cling to the nets on her silk lined legs
She tries humility, but everything she’s wearing comes from Rags
And all the men in their cardboarded suits
Empty hands to her they impute
But she, on her Yellow Brick way
Won’t peek a blind she just looks away
Oh, how tall she stands amongst them all
Down her red carpet, how they wait for her to fall
  Oh, Baby
‘Round her finger she has me
And she doesn’t even know it
  Why won’t she submit

Down the howling streets where the light don’t sleep, restless, I try not to fight it
And a thousand faces they pass me by in the quick blink of an eye
You can see the night women dangle rabbits feet asking you to pay for their lies
But no, I’d rather pass them by
Not loveless love I‘d idle my time
And it all just makes me realize, so dear
  That my baby’s not here
Her card, the Queen of hearts
Howls throughout the night in spades
Her poker face, carved so deep
  Oh, she slowly abates

Perched on my stoop, she gets so close, sings beautifully
But when reaching my hand out, she flys away mysteriously
And when bringing his name up
  She leaves without an apology
  She’s afraid to begin
And she’s still thinking of him
Hiding in a place we’ve all been
  Oh, how can I win?
  Still I hypothesize
  About moving it on
Just like Louis, oh the Sun King
But there’s a hole in my wings

Inside of Hell’s Kitchen, she gins for me a glass of ***
I offered her some, she looked at me and told me “no,” I said “how come?”
“I don’t drink, and nor should you,” she preaches to me as if she really knows
Oh, the “wisdom” of a young crow
She leaves for me a silver heart shaped lock
With no picture, it’s her reminder, there’s no fee for the finder
Like the cars that pass the alley
She’s always there, and always gone
But these visions of that girl
They make them all seem so wrong

Miss Understood has died, they found her all alone by the riverside
A note crumpled in her hand had read, it said no one could hope to understand
The sound of the silent night, it just left me feeling kind of crucified and I’m not too sure why
And, oh, how the way the pavement rolls
Leaves a dozen cracks in my fragile bones
And I prayed to God to please have them sewn
Without her I’m not sure where I’ll go
Just a brown dirt cowboy on a stone cold road
Watching them dig graves in the town of Sodam and Gemorra
And these visions of my baby who’s now long gone
And these visions of my girl
  It’s always been for her
