Important Mission
the self destruct button
is waiting for that fellow to push
he'll blow himself up like
a snooker ball off the cush

it won't be any surprise
to see him blasting himself away
this very explosion was fated
on a forthcoming day

the firing switch is set
for the big self strike
whereupon he'll be ******
into the air as a flying pike

soon the event will be
happening on television
let us not miss watching
his most important mission

T-Tons of garbage shoveled all around the place
H-High mounds of ******* confronting ones face
E-Enormous amounts dispersed within this space

D-Dare one say how gross the piles of debris appeared
R-Repeatedly the offenders were advised to have it cleared
I-Irritatingly into the mind the image of trash seared
V-Vast quantities are certainly not well endeared
E-Eliminating this poppycock is never feared

the touching of a mechanism

the tearing of flesh

Blood Donors
Why don't more Aussies go and give blood
It's all very easy there's never a flood
Of life giving fluid always it's short
And as all will know life can't be bought

In other parts of the world to-day
There are some folk who bleed for their pay
It's got to be much better our way
So let's keep it free forever to stay

A pint's all you give for some poor ill soul
The feeling you get is like kicking a goal
They'll test you too for all manner of sin
And that too is free each way it's a win

When all is done you'll lie around for a while
With biscuits and tea fruit juice and a smile
A stick you'll get to whack on your car
A white bandage too to show what you are

A donor of blood it's said you are special
To give of yourself and not take a shekel
Pleased be with yourself and all will admire
The giver of blood let no life expire

sandcastles on the shore shall array
taking a walk by rocky ledge bend
to but feel the sea's cooling spray

sandpiper wings e'er fluttering away
twill be a relaxing time to expend
dreaming of a beach-side holiday

a time to enjoy waves in a blue cay
tasting the freshness of an ocean friend
to but feel the sea's cooling spray

the salty brine doth beckon a stay
if only this locale I could apprehend

I Need A Fix
not feeling crash hot
body contorted
trembles on and off
mind fuzzy in stages
called my local drug dealer
we're meeting
in twenty five minutes

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

I arrive at the old brickyards
my dealer turns up
seeing his face
makes me feel good
he proceeds to tell me
this fix is top grade stuff
money negotiations
already done over the phone
now in receipt of a cap and a half
my dealer gets lost
he checks for cops

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

I've scored my fix
in a shabby storehouse
at the old brickyards
laid out in preparation
are my tools for administering the drug
needle spoon  lighter  water
my belt the tourniquet
the fix is cooked
done in short time
no time to waste

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

I look along my punctured arm
to find a suitable place
luck!
I've found an unused vein
no problems
the needle goes in
I unload the contents of the syringe
in just a few minutes
the effect of the drug can be felt

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

my mind goes into introspection
other forms of thought
consumed and cocooned
different consciousness
plains reached
levels beyond
I almost feel close to God
or am I God myself
the images merge in my distorted mind
euphoric sublime
this lot of smack
has sure smacked me
journey well affords the expense

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

after several hours
reality hits and returns
not feeling so sedate
can I cope with what gets thrown at me
need to be in control of things
not drug in control of me
smack has got me
under her weighty thumb

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me

already planning next break in
no better a gas station robbery
job like that means more cash
it'll buy heaps more smack
my habit is a demanding *****
nagging on me all the time
I've got to feed it
it
it
it
habit
got me ****
hoping the cops
don't get a trace or whiff of me

soon enough to get a fix
not soon enough for me
I wrote this poem after reading an article about a drug addict.
she is coming to our gardens very soon
she'll have a paintbox of colors so bright
her vividness will be a spectacular boon

she'll splash some purple and orange light
on trellises and pathways to add her glee
she'll have a paintbox of colors so bright

blossoms of pink and cerise shall be on trees
it'll make the bees hum in a happy refrain
on trellises and pathways to add her glee

spring's lively lass is returning once again
every part of our gardens beautifully decorated
it'll make the bees hum in a happy refrain

birds shall twitter at what she has painted
her glorious canvas shall be a delight to see
every part of our gardens beautifully decorated

she'll have a vivacious palette to spree
her glorious canvas shall be a delight to see
she is coming to our gardens very soon
her vividness shall be a spectacular boon

Hang On!
a lynch-man
in the Tennessee hills
had run out of hanging thrills
so he decided
to travel
a few hundred miles
crossing the border
into Arkansas
with his new hemp ropes
at the ready
he sized up
the governor's and his spouse's
necks
saying nonchalantly to himself
what the heck
then over the highest branch
he flung the noosing strings
and corralled
the wicked corrupt two
into an inescapable pen
round their napes
he placed
the stricture of the knots
which he'd pulled
very tight
and said farewell
saying to them
hang on
I'll be back later
to see how you're both fairing
on his slow return

Maralinga (Ghazal Poem)
servicemen ingested the wrath, leaching through unsuspecting bodies
in a time capsule it sat in idleness, waiting to affect their aged bodies

no safeguards were in place, the testing went on without accountability
the red dust of the outback irradiated, protective cladding not on bodies

years later cancers were reported, nuclear particles ratcheting up
damaging the organs and bones, in frail manner were their bodies

a mushroom cloud hung low, the aftermath of British testing
the servicemen but lab rats, no one had regard for these bodies

friendly fire came to Australia, back in the nineteen fifties

Why do us poets
always let these jerks
who do not even
have an atom
of creativity
decide the value
and level
of our creativity?

ES.

Given that us
but meek poetic folk
have a humbleness
to our line of yolk
we permit these ignorant jerks
a liberal latitude
to openly express
their aimless platitudes

SBN.

Why do us poets
fall for the trends
and applause
it occasionally brings
knowing full well
it is all merely ephemeral
and what is permanent
is our depression so dismal?

ES.

We are cajoled
by the transient ovation
which resounds with much
brevity in its adulation
thence follows our
despondency of wretchedness
that descends into
a despairing grimness

SBN.

When will us poets
ever decide
that we do not care two hoots
for cheap popularity
and that our creations
are too valuable really
for some **** to **** on them
and make and mostly break them?

ES.

Oh for us true poets
to be admired with a fervent zeal
by those jerks who've
not a scrap of poetic appeal
unto us they can
dollop their excrement pile
for we shall surpass them
with our flash penning style

SBN.

So let us take in our hands
our own poetic destiny
lets write on time's shifting sand
and ensure our poetic integrity

We've been in a dry spell for a long while
With the advent of a pour we'll rejoice
That will be done in our happiest voice
The pastures were lacking of a good drink
Farmlands fast looking like an arid sink
A brighter day came with its wetting smile
Soils bestowed in moisture so fetching
Which shall bring a green to the land's etching
Fat drops continue their most quenching spill
Our hamlet thankful to the skies gifting
With its favor we've had an uplifting
The countryside hath received a filling bill

Songs Of Felicity
gaiety and happiness
reside in the bush this day
the birds are singing
in a bright and joyful way

their songs so up lift
and do inspire thee
with an enormous amount

with such sweet fair

thy heart feels so elated
and replete with joviality
thanks to the birds
singing their songs of felicity
wet weather events are becoming rare
few of them venture to our location
we seemingly get not a goodly share

there is little or no precipitation
copious clouds don't form in rain bands
few of them venture to our location

so depleted of dampness these lands
yet acreages in England are sopping
copious clouds don't form in rain bands

we'd like lots of drops to be dropping
there's none to bring a beaming smile
yet acreages in England are sopping

the downpour provider walks not our mile
we look to the skies for some irrigation
there's none to bring a beaming smile

the soil's profile is lacking of saturation
we look to the skies for some irrigation
wet weather events are becoming rare
we seemingly get not a goodly share
the weather is the Northern hemisphere
is too gelid for thee and me
here in the Southern hemisphere
we bask in a much warmer degree

twill not be traveling to climes
where there is snow and sleet
one shall be staying where
the prevailing conditions are sweet

up in the North regions
they sing those sombre refrains
about the chilliest of weather
which is windy of vein

down in the South regions
the sun streams all day long
that's why we chorus
the happiest of songs

the climate here suits us rather well
as this verse does so eloquently tell
so with that said we'll hasten outside
to take in the Southern sun's pride

we'll be thinking of our cousins
and friends in Northern lands
who will be sitting by hearth fires
warming their frozen hands

they'll be wishing they were
in a climate of sunny disposition
instead of being wholly stuck
in winter's gelid volition

falling everyday

the skies shaded
in a gloomy splay
the sun's happiness
no more on display

your leaving
cut deep into my soul
much deeper
than any cavernous hole

our love over
finished and done
our love at end
my world moribund

no solace can I find
for my aching heart
now that you've
torn it apart

sad sad shower
where are the sun's rays
sad sad showers
the showers parlay
the grass is always greener
on the other side of life
that's what they reckon
until they run into strife

on the other side there are
unwelcome hidden traps
which are never espied
until they land in their laps

it is better to do a thorough survey
before venturing to the other side
as what you'll encounter
may not be such a delicate ride

at first the other side
looks like a tempting opportunity
but let not it snare you
in its secreted fallibility

A Common Goal
thirteen men came together, who shared a common goal
each one persisted on the field, to bring glory to their footy team

employing skills they'd been taught, on the oval they put in their best
struggling against the other side, to win for the team

they'd not be disgraced, their competitive spirit rode high
the lads unified in a battle, they played as a solid team

each man skilled and trained, none had defeat on their minds
positional play twas all important, they'd not be a routed team

their football side had a draw on Sunday, the thirteen strove to win
as a cohesive unit they tried well, but the time clock disfavored their team

Sombre Tones
the sombre tones
of night
enter the heart and mind
their pervasive shadows
ne'er fade
they revisit
over and over
again
to be unburdened
of their tones
shall bring
a compassionate
easing
