"katniss" poems
Hermione taught me, Never dumb down. Prim whispered, It's Okay to fall down. Ginny smiled, Don't stop loving, He'll come around. Katniss screamed, Seize the fire. The doctor whispered, Rose Tyler- Haymitch scorned, The people need to be raised! Snape replied, Always. Okay, so we conflict. Our thoughts fight. But whichever fandom we follow, As a fangirl, we unite.

I am Katniss Everdeen. I volunteered for my sister in The Hunger Games. I survived, so did Peeta. I know the Capitol hates me. I am a rebel. I love Peeta. I wonder if he is alive. I am the mockingjay, symbol of all rebels. I killed President Coin because she killed Prim. I live in District 12 now. I have 2 kids. I watch them play in the meadow, the unknown graveyard. I am Katniss Everdeen. written by maegan cattermull

I am Katniss
There was a young lady of Panem, District 12 and had a sister named Prim, She and Peeta won the 74th Hunger Games, But she hated all the glory and fame, Her name is Katniss Everdeen and she is the Mockingjay for the rebel's team. written by maegan cattermull

The hunger games
The colour draining from my face. The life draining from my body. The hatred for the Capitol building. The everlasting sound of her name. “Katniss Everdeen” She doesn't deserve to be killed. She doesn't deserve to fight An impossible battle to live. That battle takes place here everyday. “Katniss Everdeen” It's painful to watch. It's immoral to watch. It's too vile to watch. But I can't stray my eyes       From     Her. “Katniss Everdeen” The blood, the gore, the killing: Is not the reason I can't look away. Each glance, each touch with him Kills. Me. Inside. “Katniss Everdeen, I love you”                                                                 - Gale Hawthorne

Katniss Everdeen
Where are the Eleanors And Godivas riding In power and insight, With spirit and mystique. They aren't in jewelry Or splashed on jeans. Vishti refused to attend Her drunken Lord; She is no mirror for Isabella, So inexperienced in love. Anne H. fought for liberty, Bella likes to shake blonde ringlets On her shoulders; The nervous Anastasia, The clumsy Swan, So modest And ill-spoken With downcast eyes. Katniss is no Palla Athena Or Garibaldi, though there's promise. They are bound, timid heroines. Malala never shot an arrow, But spoke like Rosa, like Golda. Yet, your childish sword-bearers Are still desired by the men They encounter; Not as Susan B was courted. Do they understand How the chase ends, These self-depricating heroines.

More Malalas, Please
1. I am a lioness you didn’t know you disturbed and how to tame, I would have been fine without you. 2. I can’t say this was my cousin’s fault, but sometimes I wish I’d never met you so I didn’t have to feel like there’s a void in my heart that is the size of the universe. You make me feel empty - no, you empty me, even now. 3. I let you under my skin, and inside my head and you found that it was too crowded with existentialism; I thought I had found my life’s meaning when you showed up, love seemed like an awfully good reason to be alive. 3. You told me to get over it instead of helping me get through it. 4. I left because you made it seem like you had no more reason to stay. 5. You chose your friends over me, I had to choose myself over you. 6. But wherever you are, I hope you’re happy. 7. Don’t think of me as an ex. Think of me as a practice dummy, a test run, so you don’t feel bad about hurting me. I had to teach you how to love, so you’ll know what to do when you find the right one. 8. Just because I’m not the one for you anymore, doesn’t mean I never was. 8. But was I ever the right one? 9. You said I was the best thing in your life, I didn’t think ‘right now’ lasted two weeks. 10. I still keep your Valentine card between the pages of Mockingjay when Katniss realised she loved Peeta. 10. I’m still writing about you, and you seem to be doing perfectly fine without me. 11. I still remember when you told me you were up all night thinking about me, and how terrified I felt. 12. My heart literally skipped a bit when we first held hands. 13. Sometimes I forget what I told you the night of our first kiss. I said: I will fall in love with you, you don’t have to love me back. I’m gonna give you all my heart. 4 seconds of insane and humiliating courage. 13. I’m sorry I expected more than you can give. 13. Sometimes I wish I’d stayed, because leaving feels almost the same as being left. 13. I ask my cousin about her friends, hoping she’d mention how you are, I hope it’s nice where you are.

Let's get one thing clear: When people say "You're all I've ever wanted", they're lying. I want many things. I want a pizza. I want to get an A for a paper I hardly studied for. I want a room with wooden floors. I want a house facing the sea. I want to walk into Forever 21 and take home anything I like. I want to travel around the world. I want to be better at sports. I want my ulcer gone immediately. I want longer eyelashes. I want to finish an entire season of a tv show without anyone bothering me. I want more followers on Twitter. I want to be friends with my favorite Youtuber. I want a pair of twin boys. I want Hogwarts to be real. I want to be good at archery like Katniss-freaking-Everdeen, cause it's so ******* cool. I want a new phone. I want to sleep late watching chick flicks without having to worry about sleep deprivation. I want three hamsters. I want superpowers. I want to fly. But you see, here's the catch: What I want most, is you.

Wants
The wind blows and I can feel the breeze running through my spine, I sit there in the shade of the giant oak tree that grandma Glenda planted here back when she was my age. I was reading "Mocking Jay," by Suzanne Collins, I feel like every time Katniss talked about bringing peace to all the districts this is what she pictured. Quietness; happiness; tranquillity. That's all I felt. Like nothing in the world could hurt me, like my body and my mind had left me and all I had to do was sit back, relax, and enjoy my favorite book. The wind blowing, the kids playing, the birds all in harmony as they sing, With all this beauty in one moment, it's crazy that some people don't just enjoy the little things.

Enjoy the Little Things
I love you more than I love my Momma And quite a lot more than Republicans love Obama I love you more than Miley loves twerking And probably as much as teenage boys love jerking. I love you more than hipsters love instagram and about the same as the turn of the century loved the telegram. I love you more than Hans loved Anna and just as much as monkeys love bananas I love you more than the asdaf kid likes trains and most likely more than Anastasia liked pain. I love you more than pandas love extinction and probably less than pansexuality needs distinction. I love you more than John loved his best man and I ship us more than any fandom can. I love you more than beliebers love Justin and definitely more than **** maids love dustin' I love thee more than Shakespeare loved tragedy and the same amount as Ann is raggedy. I love you more than Peeta loves Katniss and almost more than cats love catnip. I love you more than teachers love cheaters but probably not as much as Jesus loved Easter. I love you to the moon and back and there is nothing that you do lack. <3

Katniss and I watch shooting stars fly
These pages I open, these pages I see These pages I read, from these I dream I dream of a place a lifetime away Where I can be whoever I think Where my life is written for me and I can choose the journey I seek To love as Juliet or to fight as Katniss To be unknown like Bella or rule like Regina It's in the hands of the author and their words I will read The world will fade in these pages I dream

Movies are my passion, the thing I love to do, the thing I enjoy to an extent. People ask me why I am wasting my time sinking into the ineffective fantasy world of the movies instead of enjoying the dignified life of reality. Not many people understand my undying affection for this compelling activity of entertainment. What they do not know is that the real world isn’t actually the real deal. It is a test, an absorbing guidance into the perfect afterlife or the anguishing heartbreak into the tormenting hell. It is their choice which one they choose. It is like the reality of realities in the movie of The Matrix or the corruption and sadness of the desolation of The Titanic. It may be the realness of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen distressingly fighting for her life or the adventures of Shailene Woodley as Tris, loosing loved ones on her way. It could be the fans in the movies, screaming upon their idols or the hatred in the jealous, briskly spreading through the town. The inspiration is overwhelming and the education comes from the films, not from the institution they call school. The alive are in the fantasy and the real are in reality. They don’t understand the goodness that has not been seen in the life they call real.

Movies are my passion
Cinderella did not teach me stand up against the wrong. She did not teach me to be strong. Katniss Everdeen did. Aurora did not teach me that I don't need a man. She did not teach me I am independent just as I am. Cleopatra did. Snow white did not teach me that real beauty has nothing to do with physical appearance. She didn't teach me self love or acceptance. Winnie Harlow did. Ariel did not teach me to resist and fight. She didn't teach me to raise my voice for what is right. Malala did. Ashley Graham gave me confidence. Michelle Obama gave me inspiration. Tris Prior taught me sacrifice. Hermoine Granger showed me it's not only boys who can fight. Nikita Gill taught me I am enough even without a man. Joan of Arc showed me I can do anything he can. Let's read to our girls stories of such badass, incredible, fierce and confident women. Instead of stories where they are painted weak and can't do without men. Let us teach them that they are powerful, they are strong. And anyone who tells them different is wrong. Let's read them stories of brave, heroic women instead of ones where they are shown weak and helpless. Let's teach them to be warriors and not some princess.

warriors.
You know those movies? There's always a savior, a messiah of some kind Everyone thinks that they would be that person The person who saves the world Or gets the girl Or has that special gift But I've faced reality That's not me I'm Nothing extraordinary It's sad I suppose I'll never be the Katniss Everdeen Or the Superwoman Or anything but me But I can always try I'll just wait and see

(Extra)ordinary
Slowly breaking its spine Looking at that new front Seeing the beauty within the title The cover can give you an idea of the adventure you are about to take Be ready to get attached to either the protagonist or the antagonist You could even get attached to one of the secondary character Holding that new book You could smell the pages are still in that fresh new book Once you start the book, you know you can’t put it down One more page One more chapter Until you realize that you just finished your book This adventure takes you to different universes Different countries Teaches you new languages Don’t know how to speak Spanish, well I guess it’s time to learn for this chapter Falling in love with the relationships within the book Using the characteristics to finding your next person Teachers used to tell us “reading is fundamental” I will give them that Reading became fun for me The adventures I have gone on from reading has been the best I got a letter to Hogwarts from reading Harry Potter series Became a shadowhunter thanks to the Mortal Instruments series I fought in the hunger games with Katniss Stayed on team Jacob in the Twilight saga Went to Camp Half-Blood with Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase And many more to add to that list Reading has helped me escape that scary thing called Reality

Target practice, aiming high shoot these stones and watch them fly see them hit and watch them fall dropping bottles, one and all. Line them neatly in a row dented plastic, all will go crashing quickly to the ground with this new skill that I have found. Knock them over, stack them up once again, I just can't stop precision like you've never seen to rival Katniss Everdeen. She had an arrow and a bow, I begged my dad but he said no cause with an aim as true as mine he thinks I'd end up doing time! So pebbles, sticks and bits of string, who knew the fun these things could bring? the satsisfaction is quite grand to fell these items with my hands. I love to see my Dad impressed because he is the very best but even with his throwing arm he cannot hit the neighbours barn! and so I laugh and love to tease while sitting here beneath the trees he tries to make an angry face but laughter cracks it with quick pace. So I call him my " Bottle Boy" shout "line them up" just to annoy and shoot those bottles to the ground another favourite pastime found.

slingshots and bottles
Katniss chased catnip across the carpet of your Lamoni home each precious pounce sent you into fresh waves of giggles left you clutching a paisley-patterned pillow tightly as a life preserver you were transfixed by a kitten's glee until i met your irises our fingertips brushed and we both felt a chasm grow between us in silent agreement we looked our separate ways lost in fractured reminiscence

Mother wept for weeks when you died. Her cries rang throughout the house as if she had put a microphone up to her mouth. She demanded to know why I killed her daughter. Where was the daughter who wore floral skirts to spin around in? Where was the daughter who wore shimmering gold makeup as a way to be pretty? Where was the daughter that begged for her hair braided like Katniss every morning? She demanded answers but I don’t know if you actually ever existed. I know you tried to exist. I know you kept trying to stop me from ‘taking your place’ by devouring every feminine stereotype you could find. I couldn’t live repressed under emotions you refused to address. I couldn’t survive as you tried every title besides the correct one. I couldn’t stand the sight of you in the mirror or photos I still can’t. Maybe I did **** you as I cut my hair shorter than you wanted. I killed you by throwing out all your favorite clothing items. I killed you by no longer letting you be the ideal daughter. I killed you just like I started to **** our family. All it took was a simple letter saying I wasn’t a girl, but instead a boy. The silent treatment felt more like a punishment for wanting to be me. I was cut off while I still lived in the same house as them. The only thing is that I would **** you again, but only if I got to see you crumble away every time.
