We are nothing but
A passing thought in the mind
of the universe
like a child’s dream at night
that comes only to die at dawn
My teacher in Creative Writing asked us to write a tanka and i feel like sharing it, so here it is. :)

Like a zombie stuck at the heart of the industry
I feel unmeasurable guilt
They all look to me for safety and comfort
I love and talk to them more than I do with those of my own kind
Yet I’m the one who sees them to their demise
When I look into their eyes I feel the calm innocent souls within
They love me
And I love them
I’ll scratch all the places you can’t reach
I’ll help you up when you’re down
Ill fix your feet when they’re not fit for walking
I’ll take away your respiratory problem when you are ill
I will always help my dear girls
But my heart it stops and skips when you’re sent away
I lose sleep at night thinking of the horror you all face in the end
Torn from your mother’s then your own offspring torn from you
Your milk is their gold
And then when you’re too old
A cattle ****, truck, shocked then killed
I hope your souls go to where the birds fly, high and free
And that if you could look back on me
The one who wishes he could just set you all free
Please forgive me
You’re all friends to me
I just slave for the man with all the money
Only so I can make sure your lives are filled with less misery.

It's unfair
to me and to you
to everyone that has cared and was unaware
and to who had a dare
to loved me more
more then just a freind
I understand its unjust
but as you lean in close
my heart doesnt reach out
it dosnt speed up
when you hold me close
and so I flee
when you call me dear
understanding I beg you be
I'm still waiting to like you
as you start to love me
I'm sorry my heart doesn't beat
it never has and I fear it never will
The butterflys in my stomach
must be in their cocoons
my lungs must be in good condition
for I never have trouble breathing
and my heart must be dead
because I never feel it beating

My immaturity is showing

Frustrated
At another, for his choices
For two. At their choices
Frustration. Inconsiderate people.
They are perhaps unaware of their action's consequences?

It's not them I should be worrying about.
This is a ME problem.
The frustration is inside of me
Their actions helped create it, but who am I to tell others how to operate?

Don't stop. Don't give in.
Do what you're doing. Don't feel entitled.
Get back to work.

These people act like I sit on my phone, protesting food like Ghandi, and absorb depression through the silicone.

You made me believe you wanted to be done
Didn't realize the day we said goodbye
Your eyes convinced me you would change
As usual, it was just another lie.
About the day my ex went to rehab, he knew he wasn't going to do it he just told me what ai wanted to hear.

you're lost in the wild
you don't know where you are,
you don't know what to do,
so you're dying in the dark.

you're looking for a trace
you're looking for a place,
but all you get is this maze
you should've seen your face
you got burned, got cornered
no turns, just liars.

and when you try to seek out the exit,
you find the monsters in your closet
smiling, waiting, hungry to dive in
you can run, but you can't hide
you can try, but you'll be found

so you're lonely in the streets,
you've been sleeping there, no sheets
you're looking for a mirror, looking for a lover,
looking for a mother, looking for a savior,
but you're alone, child.
but are you lone, child?
are you gonna cry now? be brave child.

the time is ticking
this game you're playing,
it's never ending,
but try to win it.

you say you're fine,
but you hope with fright.
you curse your life,
cuz it's killing you with pride.

the door is open,
but the sign says closed
your heart is breaking,
but you got no one to hold.

so you hold onto your dreams:
bright, and thriving lights, NYC
but is it worth it? can you chase it?
can you catch it? or miss all of it?

you sit in the corner of the bed
you're thinking about life, you're thinking about death
you're thinking about your friends, you're thinking about your family
when you thought of yourself, you thought of yourself lastly.

you sit and think about living
what to do to learn? what to do to earn?
how to keep up the pace?
how to dance in the rain?
and why are you lonely in this sick, crazy game?

so you wake up in the streets
the air is warm, so you smile, and you breathe
looking for dime, looking for a rhyme,
looking for more time, looking for your prime

looking for a flower,
looking for a paper,
cuz that is what you're best at:
painting words then you're a goner.
