which cards will you draw today?

lethargy is a fickle friend sometimes

so i wish for moonlight within the clouds

of marble floors, rolling paddies that

commerce plows swiftly, masked

soldiers marching zigzag between

        the glare of pink slips

and streams of granulated sugar
I'm currently a workplace safety officer.

Sleep has fled me
As I sink in this monotonous
Flow of thoughts
The quiet night, a witness
To this perpetual
Sadness...

What is it that I must do?
What is it that I must be?
Confusion morphs
To this mysterious
Exhaustion

And my soul finds no rest

in silence...

Sleepless nights when I was young,
fond times - I reminisce;
though many I cannot recall,
there is one I truly miss:

Midnight mass at the cathedral,
the echo of sung hymns;
growing restless in the pew,
as the candles all burned dim.

Still of the night - heavy silence,
white flake now falling  swift;
plumes of smoke from chimneys,
and in windows stood trees lit.

Waiting in suspense - so eager,
in my bed under the sheets;
hearing  the howl of a winter's gale
blustering against the eaves.

Old Saint Nick would soon arrive,
with his sleigh and sack of gifts;
bringing joy to all boys and girls,
and crossing names off His list.

But now I have aged and withered,
and so Christmas has lost its glow;
on its Eve I still remain awake,
and watch the falling snow.
If only sleep would come as easy
As the anxiety that keeps me awake
Its gonna be a long 2 days

If I can’t swallow your frigid heart
then let me kiss the traces of your
loneliness with my ugly mouth

And on a sleepless night
when your soul needs a cure,
I will be there with lavender tea

Sleepless
by Intoxcy8me

It's just time, one tik, one tok,
a movement of hands-on life's big clock.
As each tomorrow becomes today,
is our destined end on its way.

Shadows forming around the edges of my life.
I've seen enough of pain and strife.
What's to do when sleep refuses you,
night after night devouring time too.

A heavy sigh escapes echos of reproof,
My lids are heavy but my mind is aloof.
A void against the glass the rain did beat and bicker,
driving my taste for some more corn-licker.

To drown my conscience in another batch,
to start the day again from scratch.
Just to sleep if only for a few,
there's only so much I can do.
Stop focusing on the other person and control your own world.

Take out your barbeque
roast your unaccomplished dreams
along with onions and cheese.

cook until they are burnt.
collect the ashes of your dreams
and sprinkle it on plate of regret
and ate everything on it like a good boy

digest the fact, that
what was meant to be, happened
and what's wasn't, will be out of
the system in morning.

The sleepless nights I had then,
I had something to dream about,
Hope waiting at the end of the tunnel,
The life I loved, waiting out there to live.

I had known, it won't last,
It cannot be forever,
Yet, I hoped my hope won't desert,
Now that it did, I stopped to think.

The sleepless nights I have now,
I have nothing to dream about,
Hope forlorn, no light in vicinity,
My life I lead, hollow and ridden of life.

When I met her I knew she was a sleepless night in the making.
She lays on a bed fit for mortals,
but the moon places a halo on her head as she sleeps.
I curse my eyes,
as acidic darkness clings to her skin
and eats at my ability to see her at peace.

Seventeen years of life
and I still have yet to realize:
that being a sucker for insomniacs is not good for me.
