A quote from a lovely movie, Lean on Pete:
"The nightmares are going to get better. They might not go away completely, but they're going to get better the more good times you have. And we're going to have good times, Charlie.  I promise."
We all need an Aunt Margy to run to.

Cry no tears for me

The famous singer walks alone,
Through half-remembered good times,
Through a library of songs
And all she can see at the end of the road,
Is a life without regrets
And a story told.

I remember the day we had people over because we had just moved in to the house
I took photographs to document the new memories we were going to make here
one of those memories now hangs in a frame on the wall
and all of us are smiling
and now I look back at that picture and wonder where those people went
who those people were
because they certainly don't look like us
at least the new us

the ones who screamed and shouted so loud the floors shook
and cried so hard their ribs felt they may break
the ones who ripped each other's hearts out with broken promises and painful truths
the ones who don't live together in this house anymore
I have now forgotten what it was even like to be happy with you
I leave that photo on the wall as a constant reminder to never forget the good times
even if it hurts

Have a beer, drink and cheer,
chug it like yo mama made it
don't matter if it's barely noon
let's party till our bodies heave it.
In this town of forever children
we're suppose to be bold and reckless
our only chance to be stupid
so pop it, tap it, run it, work it,
gather the fools in their ***** best
round up the prettiest little liars
get ready to make some beautiful mistakes
Responsibilities? Duties? Homework?
Not today my friend!
They can wait, you have fun to take
and have it all day and night,
and day again
grab a partner and dance
grab a memory and hold it tight
unless you want to forget,
that's even easier!
there's a drink for that!
there's a solution for everything here
Drink it, smoke it, dance it, **** it,
fight it, cry it, drive it all away!
Won't matter tomorrow, it's all in the game
Neverland with Rock N Roll,
waterfalls of beer and
***** minded darlings
This is a scoundrel's heaven
there are no rules, no out of bounds
no time outs, no take backs
just take it all in,
this may be your only chance
to act like the animal everyone tells you to fear
soon you'll wish these days never ended
these might be your glory days
the days of glorious recklessness
The "Who gives a ****? We're in college" days
you're suppose to be devilish
nothing will ever be this easy to forget
nothing will ever be this easy
Bro City is Candyland for adolescents
so grab a roof top and grab a cup
you're only regret will be you took it too seriously
Celebrate, and if you must be celibate
be sure you at least enjoyed every minute that mattered.

The dazzling lights
The music of the waltz
The shy boy who didn't want to dance
The shy girl who did
The outgoing girl who spoke to the shy boy
And all but forced him to ask
But the shy girl was dancing with the red head
And they were laughing
But eventually the song ended
And the shy boy came up
He all but growled out the invitation to the dance floor
The shy girl just laughed
And so together they learned the waltz
I realize this is incredibly lame sounding, but i wrote it awhile ago and reread it recently and I really like it alot actually.

I also want to write poetry
when im happy;
to arrest the moment
with a pen and paper
and make the ephemeral eternal...

to catch the moment mid-laugh
and preserve it in some
oxygen-tight glassbox,
for me to look at it like a tourist would
in a museum-
whenever i feel like an unhappy phantom
on this sad sad world..
