Paul Idiaghe Dec 2020
december is the dust dripping from the body
of a closed book, dry and dreamy
like an opening—like the dent
on your doughnut dimple, our lips,
loose from loving, luminous
from our icy irices
igniting;

it is what spills after the storm—
a sweet slice of sky, its silhouette
soft and soothing
like silence.

now, the moon is mounted as a mistletoe
on the tender twig of midnight, now,
our dreams, draped in december dew,
are cold kisses of eternity.

see as december drags the dead
back to breath—our bodies,
bruiseless and born

out of the broken,
wiping afresh in the white,
wet wool of winter.

i hate the way i love you.

i hate the way you smile,
i hate the way you laugh.

i hate how i know you have a dimple,
there, right there, on the side of your cheek.

i hate how you are like sunlight hitting a shimmering puddle,
as if you had the power to lift clouds and calm storms.

you don't have that power.

Gold and silver streaks of light across the night sky,
A city of stars, beneath her eyes they flash like neon lights,
Chocolate kisses and ice cream sundaes, tinkling ice,
Heart-shaped dimple, the curve of your cheek,

City of stars beneath her eyelids, flashing neon lights
Brick wall, bright sky, untied Timberlands, grip like a vise,
The heart-shaped dimple in the curve of your cheek,
Your breaths match perfectly with mine.

Brick wall and bright sky, Timberlands grip your feet like a vise,
Hiding in the back of the library, giggles and sighs,
Our breaths match, you’re perfect, are you mine?
Fingers slip through mine, soft fluttering eyelashes, a sign.

Hidden in the back of the library, giggling and a sigh,
Heads thrown back, hair twirling like kites in the breeze,
Fingers slip into mine, eyelashes softly flutter, give me a sign.
I can feel your heartbeat, we’re floating above the rest of the world.

Heads thrown back, hair twirling, flying kites in the breeze.
Chocolate, kisses, ice cream, Sundays with the sound of tinkling ice.
I can feel your heartbeat, we’re floating above the rest of the world,
Gold and silver streaks, together we light up the night sky.

Falling teardrops from your eyes down to your cheek..
As they write all the stories,, you're too scared to speak..

would you stop them by your "One-sided dimple",, bring their flow to a halt..
Let bygones be bygones,, there isn’t always your fault..

Hey gal..
I have some queries about your "one-sided dimple"..
.
Like materials,, does it expand or contract when subject to change in temperature??🤔🤔
.
Like magnets,, does it attract to opposite and repel the same??🤔🤔
.
Like an electric charge, does it produce current??🤔🤔
.
and like water,, does it become steamy when heated and become icy when cooled??🤪🙈

Rhymes are beautifully simple
Like the dimple beneath your nose
And for those who just don't understand
That love is just you who expand in my heart
I will start by explaining your dimple
Your beautiful dimple

Ten tiny fingers,
Ten little tiny toes,
Chubby cheeks,
Dimple chin,
Like grandpa's and his cheeky grin,
Eyes are blue,
Mischievous  same as grandma's too,
Complexion fair,
With mama's silky hair,
As tradition goes,
Family's small button nose,
Papa's  sweet frown,
And his boring yawn.
Welcome to the happy family little one,
With lots of kisses, huggies and cuddles,it's going to be fun.
