there is a part of me that nobody knows
except you

I keep it under lock
strapped down and chained
starved, pale and gaunt

to quiet it

to silence it from calling out in the still

to **** it if I could
and be done with it

only for you to undo me with a whisper
with words in a line,
with a memory

that throws off my desperate restraints
lays waste to my barricades
and breathes fire into me.
making the chaos so full and loud
inside me
that it suffocates me
and i cannot breath
or cry out
or find relief
except to surrender.

a beautiful unraveling
of skin and bone
that strips me down to my soul and fragments
to give everything that I am to you.

with a whisper you could tear me down to atoms
you are my beautiful destruction
Fire has to burn.
I wish I could hold it.
Feel its flicker – blue flame
luster spiraling along my lips.
Have it dance on my fingertips,
sweep across my longing skin
in streams of copper gold.
Tuck it between my ribs
and tame it.
But fire has to burn.

I set the table before dawn;
the woodgrain clothed in white linen,
adorned with embroidered daisies stitched in hope,
fraying around the edges,
six chairs lay in wait,
none of them needed.
The wind RSVP'd weeks ago,
she brought ash instead of sugar,
while the silence stirred itself.
The roses arrived, already wilted.
I placed them anyway,
in the vase my great grandmother used
for holy water and secrets.
The cups are chipped,
the silver lining of the rims rubbed away,
but they remember the hands that held them,
once.
I pour tea, lukewarm,
for ghosts who do not thank me,
only mirror the steam,
their cries echoing in weighted air.
The sky cleaves beyond these hedgerows,
a throat that has swallowed thunder it cannot hold.
Still, I pass the cream,
to no one,
savoring the semblance of civility,
drinking down decorum,
a peace offering
to those who do not deserve
not even a lump of compassion,
nor a second thought.
I raise the fractured bone vessel,
"Drink",
I spit to the air,
"a toast to the burning
and the stoking of fires
that you just couldn't keep from feeding".
The kettle screams.
The world tilts, cracks, crumbles,
the crumbs unable to be swept from the table,
clinging to edges of lace napkins,
impossible to fold away.
Pinkies out,
I face the heat,
with a fascinator veiling the curl
of a smirk that knows it won't taste victory,
just finality,
steeped in bitter black.

take creativity
brain matter,
find that somewhere
put it in the bowl

take bone
pain
sweat
blood and
tears
and place it in the bowl

take your hopes
and your dreams
and put them in the bowl

work towards nothing
your whole life wasted
take the hours you spent
put them in the bowl

sell your soul
if you have to
put the earnings
in the bowl

burn a library
a house
a puppet show
put the ashes in the bowl

blend until smooth, with water
or rough
or non-existent
or interdimensional

stare at your creation
and cry as it screams
begs
for it to end.
you're looking at yourself.
sometimes you destroy yourself because you wish to be something bigger, better than you could ever be.

i was born and on fire. my skin, open flesh wounds that bled onto anyone in a close vicinity. my face, a cloud of black dust. i knew that i had love in my heart to share with the world, but no one could see past the mold on my skin that would spread to them if they got too close. i was born into two things: a fruit that appeared ripe on the outside but leaked out a decayed, rotten mess, and the hands that opened said fruit with blood that held on. i watch the destruction i've made, that i didn't mean to make, but i believed that it was justified. i wait for someone to understand these words, not to pity me, but to find a part of themselves in me. i have found nobody. i fear that as of now, i am a walking, moldy model of decaying flesh and raw meat. i did not want to be this way. i did not want to be the black sheep. i did not want to be bad. i am a sculpture of wet clay that they could mold with their pure hands, and despite all that creativity in their alive and well minds, they have carved the word "rotten" in my flesh.

“I smile a little,
every time nature takes back.
A factory once booming,
weeds growing through the cracks,
vines enwrapping walls,
shards of glass in tall grass.

I cry a little,
every time nature gives too much.
concrete slabs for carbon-emissions,
tall brick towers for heating,
glass cages for the parasite,
aluminum and plastic in short grass.

I stare a little,
every time nature retaliates.
Waves crashing against metal,
seas forming in concrete bathtubs,
wind flattening itchy points,
sun melting neat grass.”

Have you ever felt a love so strong
that your chest physically hurts,
because you long for it,
with the entirety of your being.

A love so intense
it scares you,
breaks you like glass,
bring you to the edge of destruction,

But you don't fall over the edge,
and you won’t,
because they’ve got you,
tight in their grasp
forevermore.

A tiny ember.

It nibbles at kindling.
It is now a marble.
It is fragile and weak,
and things appear bleak.

It bites at twigs.
It is now an egg.
Its glow radiates red.
The fire is not dead.
Smoke is revealed.

It gnashes at sticks.
It is now a head.
It twists and spins,
with a crack and a snap.
The twigs grow black.
The ash falls to soil.

It devours the logs.
It is now too much.
It slashes and weaves.
The world cracks and trembles.
The air quivers in fear,
and is dryer than bone.
Sirens wail in the air.
The ground is bare.

Helicopters arrive,
and water descends.
It roars in pain.
The fire has now been slain.

Everybody leaves,
sighing with relief.

In death, it tries.
It leaves something.
A gift.
A tiny ember.
A ******! A ******! Murderers all, including that of myself! A ****** of nature, a ****** through torture!
Burning the poison it supplies us, cutting her fingers, breaking her bones and stealing the marrow.
Stealing her tears and passing scars of permanence.
Scars of war and scars of death.
Killing her children and setting a pyre in her garden.
Till we break her mind so much as to inflict wounds on herself to fix us.
Her screams, shaking the ground we stand.
Her tears, flooding our minds and town.
Her blood, burning as to keep us away.
Her breaths, growing ragged, she breathes to blow us away, yet we continue.
While we lay, while we stay, while she prays.
Angels of death, trying to stop us, but alas, we build.
Build with her bones, build with her tears, build with her blood, build with her very marrow.
We break to build, build to break, break to build, and the cycle repeats of her very will breaking before us.
