Odd
Strangely she saw a cat with wings in the streets.

Strangely she saw a dragon walking in the middle of the town.

Strangely she saw griffons flying and big long serpents swimming in the water beneath a bridge.

Strangely she saw creatures shaped weirdly who simply walked together with other humans.

Strangely she thought she was going mad.

But really what was happening is that she just stood there in one place, strangely frozen, daydreaming.
I felt strange when writing this.

life is so boring? the suggestion? of something beyond,
that is beyond me. what should we do
today? what should we eat and where
should we go? what should we be and where
should we start?

if i were to start with you? i would only need a few more
lifetimes with you...

watching the fireworks through your eyes, some
sultry summer evening.
ripped jeans, the back of some SUV, parked
haphazardly on Jones Beach.
we tip our heads together, my summer clothes
soaking through yours, a guitar riff
signals the synchronization of our dreams, the outro
signals the drowning of me out of yours.

...life is boring? let's stay this way.

He told me,
"You are a
coincidence
that looks like
destiny."

I told him,
"You are a
déjà vu
that looks like a
memory."

They told us,
"You are a
dream
that looked like
reality."
The quoted lines in the first stanza are the lyrics of one of my favorite songs, "First Time," by DAY6.

I have frequent déjà vus, which i always mistake for memories which are mine or i've been through. reality can get so confusing sometimes.

The old cashier at the car dealership,
she chain-smoked skinny, long cigarettes
all day, every day.
Her voice sounded like a bullfrog
that recently learned how to curse and laugh.
The crease lines around her mouth
and the folds in her neck
conveyed a relaxed style, confidence
earned from a hard life
and dangerous choices.

Sometimes there were no customers
in front of the cashier’s window
and no mechanics busting her chops.
That's when she’d rest her elbows on the counter
and cradle a skinny cigarette
between ******* near her cheek.
That woman’s eyes would gaze outside,
glossed over in what looked like daydreams
about all those lovers, in their graves,
and their cliché widows
with their tiresome grandchildren
and their sanitized lives.

Back in the day,
men in gray suits and skinny ties
never could resist her,
but then again,
so few ever tried.

Our book of love is written in braille
I can read into our love story
But I am too scared to open my eyes to see it
Because one can daydream a story up in a minute
But we never want to face and see the reality of what it will be
We all want to look into that persons best attributes
But looks can be deceiving
So go with what you know
And stick to the story that is slowing being written
Because skipping a chapter will only leave the reader lost
And once lost it will be hard to be found again

I'm am sure that there have been so many other beautiful days;
but this one had set itself apart.

It was as if the universe conspired at its best to give me this break.

The river glistened and nature was ever so inviting;
and I was intrigued.

Early afternoon gave me rise to the blood in my veins;
full of life.

The wind casted calm in my soul and all around
was the wild that encompassed my heart;
reality and a daydream, hard to tell apart.

Other sun seekers accompanied  just down the river,
giving the occasional glance to each other;
so close but so far away.
Fishing and laying about for hours

The weather seasoned me with summer lust.

I look at you,
and I see someone
who has lived and experienced so much,
Both good and bad,
And has come out stronger for it.

I see someone who is beautiful
on the inside and outside.
I see eyes with endless stories
and a smile with silent tales to tell.

I see you. And that's what matters the most.

Sleep, and dream about tomorrow,
For tomorrow will come quickly.
I'll be holding you in my mind;
I'll be there whether you see me or not.

In the foam of coffee, or the soft touch of wind,
In the comfort of couches,
In soft lights or floorboards;
I'm there with you.

Oh, what a sad fate it is
to be woken from a dream.

After years of fantasizing,
you realize it's all a scheme.

This picture you've created and the
scenes you play out in your sleep
are not as perfect in the real life
as they are when you're asleep.
