1.  She will love you more than anything, but she will grow tired of the bitter taste your words leave.

2. She will leave you and you will deny yourself the right to feel anything for her. It will **** you.

3. She will spend her nights with a pencil or pen, and you will fill yours with a different girl each time- desperately trying to find someone who's eyes look like hers.

4. No one will compare to her, but you will fail to learn that. She will be one of a kind and you are a jack of all trades. She will continue being her own and you will become just another card in the deck.

5. She will forgive you for every mistake, but she will not forget the way your words left scars on her chest.

6. All she will ever want is to feel like you fight for her, but you'll never go to bat for anything other than yourself.

7. If it would bring you back, she would apologize for every second thought and every slash of tongue- and she would mean it.

8.  She will try and reconcile as best she can, but she will always seem to forget how stubborn you are.

9. You will love her more than any other woman in your life, and she will feel the same. When she leaves, you will find yourself looking for her in everyone- but she will move on without you.

10. For her, it will always be you. You could come back in three years, and live four time zones ahead, and she will wake up at two am just to make sure you slept okay. Her arms will always be open, with your name etched into her ribs.

11. For you, she will always be stained by the bitterness of your abandonment. An abandonment you will bring upon yourself, when you decide that the girl next door is better than the one in your bed.

12. She will want to stay friends- close, but not too close; you should let her, but you won't. I feel sorry for you- everyone wants her on their side. She will love fiercely and she will support you even when you don't deserve it.

13. It doesn't matter what girls you will try and love after her because none of them will be as good. She will know your past and your future, she will love you even when your insecurities shine like headlights. She will know and she won't care.

14. Every girl you will try to love is made up of pieces of her. One will love cats, another will swim and another will be very quiet. You will search for her in every girl you meet, but you will never find her. You will never find her because she will finally run away from your headlights, your bitter words and the knives you throw at her chest.

15. When you finally realize all of this, it will be too late to catch her.

dating a writer
is like guessing the weather.
you think you know what you'll get,
but you never do.

you never know
because

she'll create a hero
from your weaknesses

and she'll write a great character,
from every last flaw.

she'll create a thousand plots
from your worst nightmares.

she'll take every last thing you hate
and create something you'll love.

she'll turn your anger
into confessions of adoration,

and she'll make you,
everything you're not.

but worst of all,
she'll leave you wondering-
is it you she's in love with,
or things she's created from you?

but here's the beauty of it:

if you date a writer,
you'll never die.

He would
call me
by my
middle name.
Dance with
me in obscure
places like the
grocery store.

Days starting with
him would be as
good as honey toast.

He would buy
me flowers and
allow me to do
the same.

I’d let him
show me
the moon
like it already
wasn’t mine.

He would
know when
to hold my
hand and
when not to.

I would sit
silently in his
car while he
drives to new places.

He would read
The Great Gatsby
aloud while I fall asleep.

We’d listen to
the sound of
water together
where ever we
can find it.

He would stand
next to the tracks
with me waiting
to feel the rush
of trains passing by.

He would know
when to bring me
orange juice.

He would
give me gold,
but would you?
I wrote this towards the end of the summer/at the beginning of the semester and I felt like it wasn't finished but I don't know what to add so here it is.

Subject

Shortly after our
first date I joked
Don’t make me write a poem about you.

It’s been a year and I laugh
because my poems
have become your home.

It’s been a year and
you’re kissing
someone else and
I’m just kissing people
who aren’t you.

Waking up next to you
for the last time
we knew it was and
we had to tell each other
not to cry so we could
kiss for the last time

When we broke
you said to me
I don’t want to be the subject of one of your poems.

But I warned you.

Wanderer
There is gold in them hills, he says
Gazing whistfully at her peaks and valleys
So he's going digging
Chipping happily away at each new glittering curve he discovers
She watched on in giggling, sunlight type wonder
Curious if he shall ever be satisfied
For he was of a thirsty nature
One for white lightening
Another for the metallic shine
Of her lace-edged divine

Love isn’t a good morning text
Or some other slanted
Minuscule gesture
It is a presence looming
Craving to capture you
Envelope you in your entirety
But here we are waiting on a rose
Or a gift
A letter
Perhaps if that’s what love has become
Then I will hope I find something better
I don't remember writing this.  I just found it open on my desk top and when I read it I thought I actually wrote something good for the first time.

She was unlike any celestial body I've ever seen
She flew like a comet
But shined like the sun
Eyes like spiral galaxies
and a voice that filled the endless void
Beauty like gravity drawing you in
Personality like a super nova
She was my outer space
Now I'm just left staring at the stars

Girl you know what?
I’m awake!
Been awake
For the whole night!
I’ve called my lawyer
And we’re
Discussing about
Your crime alright!

He is asking me
Since when
Have I started
Losing sleep?
Could you be nice
And please
Remind me,
When did we first meet?

He is inquiring
About the crime scene
And I’m without
Any words or sound!
Because the moment
I saw you I was lost
Couldn’t pay attention
To anything around!

He wants to know
For what should we sue?
What compensation
Do I want from you?
I told him something,
Don’t laugh now...
I said a date
Over a cup of coffee will do!

I can’t stop thinking
About you for a second,
Can’t keep away from you
In the day it seems!
At least let me sleep happily
You devil,
Stop trespassing
Into my dreams!
It's so unfair that she gets to walk right into my dreams and I can't even enter her conscious mind!

If you want to die slowly my friend
Love a person who doesn't love you back;
You treat her as if she's the first bloom rose
In her eyes you're nothing more than a potato sack.

You'll give her your notes before exams
Even if you don't have a copy for your own;
She's call her special friend right in front of you,
"Can we study together? I can't study alone."

You'll offer help when she looks swamped
As you're about to leave office for the day;
She'll smile and move the paper mountain to your desk
"Thanks! I was so worried I was gonna miss his b'day."

She'll mention how some guy is so awesome
When you're just about to express how you feel;
She'll be texting him about tomorrow's plans
As you're paying the "one way romantic" dinner bill.

There are many ways to **** yourself
I urge you to choose your way wisely;
Find something that'll end it fast
Loving such girls will **** you painfully slowly.
Crushes are meant to crush you.
