Boom
James Walker Mar 2016
Boom, boom
Explosions sound
A birds around
Dropping pellets
Running screaming, the people say
Please stop dropping, for just today
Prayer unanswered, crops destroyed
Beauty now rendered, a lifeless void
Pilot smiles, his job well done
Onto the next town, he found it fun
Medals and glory await his return
All he has to do, is make people burn
Cry and scream, the good it will do
Bird drops the pellets, gone are you
Simple command, life in hand
They say to stand but we can't fight
Bird chooses death and bird is right
All for the money.....is that not tight?
Another from 2010. 16 and angry at the war, this was my voice against it
James Walker Mar 2016
Your eyes
they are...grey?
she smiles head shakes hair,
dances
blue?
smile brightens they
are hazel
she was very affectionate
been a long time since I met,
one like that without, the
screeching
her dog jumped
on the bed I
pushed him off pet him
she touches arm I touch
leg and
***
so much leg and we go
back to sleep
She was from Wisconsin

Facing the Shadow
James Walker May 2016
I'm going to war
with myself
enough with the
holding off
tip toeing around
enough looking for
handouts
while I stand above ground
today
is the day
that I become one with
the flame
today is
the day
that I pronounce myself sane
proudly will I
conquer
the weakness
my Aim
no more have I room
for doubt
Insecurity
nor shame
no more tinkering with minds
nor playing silly games
on days like this the
Spartans became
with myself on this day
it shall
be the same

Hollow's Eve
James Walker Mar 2016
Am I the only one who
still
thinks about the
pains and sufferings
the trauma and
tragedy
it's always out there
just beyond the walls that constantly
surround
Waiting to engulf us as we
leave the
house
they are there bleeding
somewhere in the world
Crows and
vultures
salivate
as they sense a soon-amongst-the-dead
cockroaches clamber to the top of their
dens as the boots
of the unliving
soil
their beds
we speak of light
there's a bright one
up there
in the sky but,
on dusky nights
it seems to show us
the dark
instead

Wanderlust
James Walker Mar 2016
We look
how
we look and
we are
what
we are
but
eyes were never meant to be
avoided
open the window to
the soul and become
whole again
the wind
the stars
the sky
it's all
for
you

Beautiful Siren
James Walker Mar 2016
A target in sight
Filled with fright
I must succeed
But this ain't right
Compulsions pull
Yet I'm no fool
This lust, this hunger
It makes me drool
The water below me is now a pool
Swim I must so swim I go
Enter the pond and now I flow
My call is answered and I succeed
In the room I plant my seed
A passion with fashion a Sirens call
Her voice serene, I give my all
The bed was creakin and now it falls
To pieces as I waddle in the sin
I pray I cry is this the end
Why must my love be such a pain
All I wanted was to get some brain
So much fun to run that game
I gotta stop if I am to stay sane

Approach
James Walker Mar 2016
A shark
senses mangled by
sensation
temptation of
blood
A hint of it there
Furious impulse takes its
place.

same is
man
when he catches sight of
swaying hips,
waving long hair with turn of
head
to
and
fro
back
and
forth like a
pendulum, stopping time
making the destination
known
everything forgotten one
moment
thoughts
taken over
senses a barbaric
state
I must have her!

Steps
taken
heart quickens pace
eyes laser
focused
nothing else matters
curiosity inflames!

Early Retirement
James Walker Mar 2016
We long for
the simple days
without the
Hustle and bustle
and rustle and tussle of
the ******, I
mean city

A margarita on a beach
sipped out of a
pineapple her hand
gently ever so gently stroking my...
arm
as the rays
of the celestial ball of
flame burn the sand
a
bird flies overhead and
is kind enough not to drop
spatter
upon our heads
kids playing on and
on and on
The waves lapping against
the horizon...
But seriously, absolute freedom sounds great

To Save Them, From Us
James Walker Mar 2016
I'll tell you a
Secret
one day the
sky will fall
and we'll quicken
our lungs
as the aliens
take our
kids and
the kids they
smile as
they meet their
heavenly new
parents
From the world above and
as the memories
are replaced our
world will seem
Distant
Foreign
Lost and
they will
call the world of

What are those marks on your leg
I asked
After much oooh and ahh
dancing the night away
she reached over to the

and showed me a
razor blade
the marks some of them
are for me she said
it was there when she left

three kidneys made her go often
maybe just throw it away I sat thinking
I blew dark gray smoke

The Nature of Things
James Walker May 2016
Life is in the air
and
so too everywhere
weather you choose
or not
to see it
life will surely be there
it's also in your hair
present at the fair
it's stuck in traffic on the interstate
and cleaning dinnerware

it's living solemnly
or
free without a care

slimy

An Old Friend
James Walker Mar 2016
The moon in the sky
    A feeling of fly
  The corona ever bright
This feeling oh-so-right
   The message would appeal
If they would just get real
     Cuz my ambitions pouring
I've got no time to ****
   The essence at my feet
  The pulling at my head
The provocations as I sleep
The pounding in my bed
Life was good when I was lost though
found I find it better
Back to the old days when music was good and there was no need for the crimson sweater
I try and try I must succeed
there is  no other choice
I will be heard, I will be spoken,
power will be my voice
Business made, money conquered,   passions sliced, that won't suffice
The breath of the dead are filled with ice
The passion of the flame ain't nothin nice
Play....and get burned
I wrote this in 2010, my first poem

High Tide
James Walker May 2016
I've forgotten
so
many faces and
even more names
just to say
we're all the same
whether we like it
or not
we're gonna get a knife stabbed
deep
within our being in the
darkest
recesses of our
nether
regions
we will come face to face
with the void
and
understand that
the fraught
the nothing
was everything all along
