I can't sleep at night
My eyes hurt
For days and and weeks
I cannot sleep
My mind is in overdrive
My eyes hurt
These sleeping tablets do not work
My eyes hurt
Continues worry's
My eyes hurt
God give peace of mind
I need to sleep tonight
Worry sleep pain

Sometimes we run
into the arms of a terrible person
just trying to escape a broken heart
because loneliness has been known
to taste like warm whiskey,
parliament lights and the kiss
of a lack luster lover who spent more time
trying to lie you between the covers
than they did learning to say your name
out loud, you know the type.
I'd be lying too if I didn't say
I've been that kind, that tall glass of water
promising to dampen a dry tongue
which ain't got the courage to say I'm sorry,
not to nobody else but to themselves.

So I want apologize for not seeing
or perhaps ignoring how crushed you were
when I rolled you up in my arms
the way hikers do sleeping bags
and I held you in my lap
because the car was packed
and I didn't know where else to put you.
You must have felt safe there
thinking you were the place
for me to lay my head on this road trip
we call life, but little did you know
had the trunk not been full
I would have been sitting alone
face aglow from my cellular phone
texting other women,
probably with a smile.

I am here to tell you, you deserve better
and I don't want you ever settle
for anything less than a lover's embrace
because comfort plus time
equals unease on your mind.
Worrying whether this companion of yours
has become a stone tied to your heart
with a heavy rope and its tugging you down
into the dark blue depths
filling your lungs with ice cold seawater
with every last breath.

I want you to be with someone
you can chase for the rest of your life
and when you get tired of swimming
they won't leave you treading,
chumming shark infested waters
with blood from a poorly stitched heart
but they will follow and follow
until you both find that deserted island,
that paradise you promised one another.

reality abruptly removed the veil
  realization mercifully provided the light
a binary being seeking his own level
attempting to rise to the surface of himself

if peaceful existence is based on choice
then personal dogma tablets need chiseling
if afterlife is fashioned from belief systems
  then intimate mysteries need conceiving

dialogue of a dress rehearsal for an actual life
faithlessly hidden within lines of complexity
alliterated ambiguously, expressed equivocally
setting the stage for reincarnation's passion play

You and me and them and you
Alone
In grieving,
In dying,
In laughing, too.

Us and us and them and her,
One spirit
As old as time.
One body
The Gaia's
Green, blue and at last multicoloured.

You, and me and you and me and me and you and you and me,
With twin visions,
Extraordinary reunion
Finally, eye in eye.

You and us, you
Enemies to us
But we not to you,
We love you.

I'm sorry, but
There's no better combination than
Pink Floyd and the Cannabee

Not even you and me.

~

Staring out the kitchen window,
I watch as two butterflies flit between
the flowers, their colors brilliantly
reflecting the soft pastel glow
created by the morning sun
as I sip my first cup of coffee of the day

You are still asleep as I let
my mind wander to the plans we have
made for today, our special spot at the lake,
a picnic lunch under the shade of the
old maple tree I carved our initials in long ago,
I even bought your favorite wine

Driving to our destination, you singing along
with the radio, the wind blowing through
your dark brown hair,
that beautiful smile enchanting
me at every turn as I fall in love again
a thousand times over

We’ll relax allowing the day
to pass by slowly,
finding shapes in the fluffy clouds,
skipping stones on the clear water,
spending the hours sharing
all of the beauty nature has to offer

A more perfect day I can not envision, as you
sneak up behind me and putting your arms
around my waist, kiss me on neck then whisper sultry in my ear,
“Good morning handsome, can we just stay home today and play?”
As I turn to face you I answer wearing a huge smile…

Roger Turner - Poet
I can't see into the future
But, I know someone who can
She's a gypsy from the midlands
And, well, she looks just like a man

She says her name is Heather
But, to me she'll be a Hector
She said she had an accident
But, by god...it nearly wrecked her

One eye stares, it doesn't move
And this one is the best
The other follows you around
It never leaves your chest

She reads tarot, tea leaves and the bones
She's a reader of your life
She said she's still not married
I can't imagine her a wife

She'd know just what you're thinking
She'd know a lie before it's told
And if she's ugly nowadays
Imagine her when she gets old

The people go to see her
when the caravans arrive
She will read for twenty dollars
Her tent opens at five

If you want to know your future
Just take notice, listen close
Because her lips are slightly puffy
And she whistles through her nose

She's bent over looking downward
On her left side there's a ****
On her cheek there is a goiter
Behind her ear there is a lump

She weighs in at 300
Doesn't stand past 5 foot tall
But if you want to know the future
Then she's the one to call

She's an old afflicted gypsy
Has a daughter known as Marge
Says she's wanted up in Bristol
She's a small medium at large

Your sun stroked fingers
smooth my dusted galaxies
spoiling orbiting blues
with swipes of stardust.

You kiss meteors, murmur
how you savored snippets
of Jupiter's moons in the
spaces of a poetic eclipse.

Adorning Saturn's rings
in your nebulous tombs,
rekindling your smile with
flames of lovers past.

The memory is still buried
within my core, a pounding
resonance that evokes the bloom
of summers kiss on Earth.

A welcome release for the
nights wandering stars.

Nitrogen in our brains

With souls made of flames
We are all just stars that have people names

If I have been in the morning of your love
The stormy skies seem cornflower blue
Obstacles turn to vaporous haze
Warmth envelopes any sadness
In your gaze my life force blooms
If I have been in the morning of your love

If I have been in the dusk of your passion
The night's shadows disappear
The darkness takes a sultry turn
Sated slumber surrounds me
Blanketed in love divine
If I have been in the dusk of your passion

Through days and nights in lover's hands
Kept safe in love sublime
Fear naught what life unfolds our path
Guardian of heart and soul
This earth is full of whimsy and wonder
If I have been in the morning of your love

Even though he's a realist who seeketh real amour,
He's just happy and content for his friend
Who lives in her dreams...
For if he knoweth his friend is happy in her dream's,
That's all that matters to him
Her happiness!!!!
