Never has this nation stood as tall
As the day after its great fall
But now?
So many years after we've risen?
Not in ages have we seen such division

Divided we fall
   and united we stand?
Have we somehow flipped
   the values of this land?
That terrible day
   mourning hand in hand
Has faded away
   to competing demands
   of Make Us Greats
   and Yes We Cans

Now we stand opposed
   diametrically divided
Wondering
   if ever again
   we'll stand
   happily united
In reflection of the national unity in the days following 9/11/01, and where we've gone ever since.

17 years since 911
Safety has never returned
To the free world
School shootings now rule
Our headlines...
Saudi Arabia still
Our closes allies...
Police still shooting
Our unarmed black men...
The industrial military complex
Bigger than ever
President still doing
The bidding of the 1%
$$$$$
Innocent people died
We were blind sighted
We came together
Only to become
Completely undone!

i have been asked "what does family mean to you?"
...
family?
family are the people that haven't treated you like **** your whole life
family are the people who not only give their all to be with you
but the ones who give their all for you
family are the people that show you what true love feels like
because those people love you unconditionally

family does not always mean the ones who share your genes
but sometimes they are the ones who borrow your jeans
they are the friends, neighbors, coworkers, and people you trust the most
the ones who spend every day with you by choice, not by obligation
the ones who show you your flaws without belittling you

family is who you choose, not the ones who were "stuck" with you

It has been seventeen years
Since that dreadful morning
Thousands lost their lives unexpectedly
Hearts are still grieving
The events that took place on that day
Sadly presented turmoil and corruption
The entire universe shook badly
As we all witnessed the confusion and frustration
As planes crashed
And buildings started to fall
Everyone watched in horror
As our backs were against the wall
A sullen mood sadly appeared
Many people cried lots of tears
Such acrimony and melancholy still lingers
After all of these years
The temple rises
high above the humid earth.

The sun looking through the playful clouds
colors the terracotta in the golden hue
of God's emotions
long forgotten by the travellers
down on his earthly abode.

Every little detail that's etched within the mind
Every passing comment negative or unkind
Every act against us be it large or small
Every single experience
We can't forget them all
Every critical thought
Filled with judgement
Every stare
Is enough to cause great harm
Devastation and despair
Every ones responsible for the choices that they make
Everyone's accountable for making their mistakes
Each and every one of us
Can choose to change our ways
By speaking words of kindness
Encouragement and praise
Little acts of thoughtfulness
Letting someone know your there
A hand to hold
A smile
A hug
Just showing that you care
Why choose to stand in judgement
Causing harm with all your might
Embrace each other's differences
As you do not have that right

I've been looking for you in each stranger,
Each blue eye with sand hair makes me turn,
Each musical note I play is a reminder of your name,
I often forget to distinguish my voice from yours though this mics
I said I'll be strong but mama I miss you.

I guess blood is thicker than time than death since,
Each eye on this arena feels like yours
Every time I give life to this fiction characters
I hear your laugh, feel you cringe,
Each attempt to hide from this paps,
Feels like a carbon copy of yours, only with a failed attempt
I said i'll be strong but mama I miss you.

It's been a decade,I want to lie i'm stronger/mature i'm not
I still ball over and cry sometimes, especially days like this,
I still let them in even though you warned me about naivety,
I still shy away from the life you and dad gave us,
I know I said i'll be strong but mama I miss you.

I have loads of questions,so I ask the siblings you gave me,
Hoping they asked the same questions to you,
Hoping they pour your knowledge to me,
I watch  you, how you were,so beautiful so young,
I know I said i'll be strong but mama I miss you.

I've tried been good,
Though this creepy's make the search engine say am not,
I want to talk about your old man and your boys,
Right now though I'll be a little selfish because,
I know I said i'll be strong but mama I miss you.

Poetry is the air poets are the breath
poets sparkle like jewels of paradise
flourishes in garden of great poetry

poets matured like pearls in oysters
of vast ocean of their sub conscious

no need to ****** it from jaws of
crocodiles or to combat dragons

don't have to climb Everest
cross the burning Sahara
crawl in the dark belly
of the Pyramids

all they've to do is let the ink flow
let inspired words pass through prism
minds let contrive and conceive aglow.

Just Alex
can not be found in the flesh
For as warm it may be
As soft to your fingers it is
It will lay soft and cold eventually

can not be found in gold
Yes, it never loses its luster
But many coins you need to muster
And no number will fill the gap in your soul

can not be found in others
For the laughs may distract
The facade will crack
And still you will be empty inside

ilusive as it may be
It follows you around
It never left
For within you she rest
Waiting to be awoken
And while the rest might feel great
They serve as nothing but crutches
On your own you must stand
If you are to revel
On the pleasures life offers...

To improve one self
To look on path troded
It´s essence

To know there is more
With hunger jump forth
It´s rushes

To balance the mind
With the desire of the heart
It´s key

And once held in hand
You will understand
That happiness flies like a bird
But behind she left
Tranquility
And the knowledge
That you can get it again...

Sometimes I want to scream
Shout out, what does it mean?
When the bad outshines the good
All feelings become deadened wood
Numb against the daily grind
As 24hr headlines batter the mind

In this world of electric news
Where a disaster gains a billion views
Behind the glass fronted screen
Eyes behold the world wide scene
No tears can react or fall
To misery shown on this two dimensional wall

I remember a time before the internet glow
We had community, we had the flow
Of kindness, a compassionate heart
A hand to take when you are falling apart
No texts speak, or buttons to express a like
Or tweeting about another military strike

Science forging technology on
No one’s asking if it’s wrong
To go so fast that we lose the human track
When really we should be moving back
To when a heart can cry
When we see a stranger die.

I know poetry is about words
and I do dote on words
I treasure digging up just the right one
to lay out on the carpet and let fly

but I wonder if
it would be well
to just dwell
in the heart space
in silence

to hold the object of my anger or irritation
there
in silence
surrounded by blood
and warmth
there
in the anchor of life

I have come to realize
poetry and its cousin prayer
are just as much
about the heart
as words.
