Useless
BAT Kahnert May 2015
The river only reflects a mute scene
for it does not hear the crackle of flames,
nor the screams being choked on by smoke
while tree limbs crash down in a heated blaze
because it can only observe this sight
and feel like it is useless against a
fiery beast.

Restless
BAT Kahnert Apr 2015
Sleep…Come back to me.
Take this room of coal black

and turn it into a vision of the sea.

Transform these tangled sheets
into a luscious robe fit for royalty,

and have thy citizens kiss they feet.

Let a soft cloud be thy pillow rest

up high in the dark, starlit sky.

Letting the clean air fill thy chest.

Make this bed one made of roses.

Have thy sweet laying beside thee

with a ring hidden before he proposes.

Let the curtains shut out the light

so I may stay in this false reality;

for behind my lids hold a prettier sight.

Took this vision of the sea

and turned it into the dawn.
Sleep…Come back to me.

My Life
BAT Kahnert Mar 2015
On my honour I will try,
To not let life slip by.
I want to find the meaning of living,
And be a little more giving.
I want to feel more of the back of a horse,
And most people would sigh a say, “Of course.”
I want all eyes to be on me,
And someone people want to be.
To live a way no one else will,
And stop and lay on a grassy hill.
I want to leave a legacy behind,
For someone else to find.
On my honour I will try,
To not let my life slip by.
Based off of the iconic Girl Guide song "On My Honour", this poem captures the hopes and dreams of a young girl of about 13.

Love for a Friend
BAT Kahnert Mar 2015
They say that the fires of love are blazing.
They say that love is a craving.
But my love I have been saving
For a special friend like you that is amazing.
This is a poem that was written for Valentine's Day for those people that didn't have someone to spend it with. I go around every Valentine's Day and recite this poem to people are random.

Requests?
BAT Kahnert Mar 2015
Any poem requests?
Because my poems are the best.
I have poems about quests,
Or the stories behind crests.
How about an unheard of test,
Or of uninvited guests.
Maybe about how we are blest,
Or times at ‘Wake Fest.’
Maybe leaving the family nest,
Or getting rid of a pest.
About going out West
And being told to wear a vest.
But I am going to take a rest
Before I take any more requests.
Written as a joke. Turned into something more.

Just For Me
BAT Kahnert Aug 2015
I do it for me.
I don’t do it for him, or her, or even you.
I do it for ME!

I do it to relax.
I don’t do it for judgment, or rewards, or even money.
I do it to RELAX!

I do it for fun.
I don’t do it for praise, or popularity, or even status.
I do it for FUN!

I do it for me.
I don’t do it for parents, or siblings, or even friends.
I do it for ME!

Why is that so hard to understand?

I don’t do it for you.
I do it for me, and myself, and even I.
I DON’T do it for YOU!

My Butler, Dearest Butler
BAT Kahnert Apr 2015
My butler, Dearest butler,
Please come hither to thee,
Show they self to be proper
When in the presence of me.

In the doorway you linger
So tall and straight you stand
As you bow you head low
To patiently await my command.

I stay in my bed and whisper,
I ask for you to be at my side
So I can confess myself to thee
And tell how you've satisfied.

"I'm greatly old fashion, I know.
I'm elderly, wrinkled, and frail."
I reach out for your gloved hand,
I'm cold and frightfully pale.

My butler, Loyal butler,
I give you a golden reference
For you are truly perfection,
Magically knowing my preference.

One last task is I give to you,
Stay near me now awhile
To comfort me once more
With your genuine smile.

My butler, Loving butler,
I have little time left, it's true
So pay me one last request.
I have a question for you:

When I die, where will you be?
Will you stay close and greave
And carry me to my final grave?
Or will you just simply leave?

Last Day
BAT Kahnert May 2015
Last Words
What shall you say

on your last day

of existence--
                        NAY!
Let me see a sun ray
shine once on the bay.
Only then, will under ground
                                         I lay . . .
