My fingers laced a crown,
as you carried me into the lapping water.
I drew a breath...

And you tucked me into death's bed.
Water filled my lungs
with a slip of your invasive tongue.
--A goodbye kiss.

You left me there.
Slipping down into the icy waves.
Beneath the rising water.

My breath gone as you dissolved from my bubbly view.

I'll pretend for a little while,
That dreams are just chasing cars,
Down a road till there's a red light,

Digging through the drawrs,
Stacked neat folded thoughts,
Not my own,
It's a war were fighting,

My family thinks they're steps,
They're chairs, **** IT,
I hate the coushins people put on them,
They slide off and fall away,
I'd rather sit uncomfortable,
Than chase a pointless nothing,
At the back of my throat,

You calm me,
Nothing I could ever write,
Could make you understand a flightly bird,
Like me,

You're Jupiter,
Chosen from the rest,
A million light years away,
You hold my heart in your chest,
It's quiet inside,
Quiet inside,

A crack in the side walk,
Use to walk me to school everyday,
He never left, he never went away,
Be my crack in the side walk,
I love you, I hope you realize this,

Dull orbs of green
Stare back from reflective material
Once vibrant fire cascaded down
Now lackluster

Once carefree and bright smiles
Replaced by emptiness and frowns
Darkness lurking in recesses
Springs forth covering everything

Thoughts trapped behind shutters to the soul
As lids lift allowing a stagnant light to glimpse
Dark and cold are blankets of warmth
Vibrant color so drab

Voices, smiles, laughter, light
Silent, empty, tears, pain
Arms reach out
Attempting to break through

Feeling the vice grip
Slivers of feeling enter
Screams bounce off just below the skull
Anguish read in the sea of green

Wanting desperately to break free
She can feel the anguish smothering
Sleep the escape
Wakened to more agony

Pills said to be the answer
Day in day out
More added to the regimen
No change in the mirror

Dreams the escape
Life the prison
Tell me how you feel
Visions of blades gauging flesh

Red floods the scene
Such warmth surrounds briefly
Suddenly very cold
No one thought to understand

Pills withdrawn
Voices no more
Lying in the poppies
Eyes dull and lifeless

Feelings gone
Peaceful rest at last
The fight long gone
Stark white sheet beneath
the cold black bag

Oh Mama...

Oh Mama...
How did you get through all the drama
That was brought into your life
Before you we're even a mother or a wife

Oh Mama...
How did you manage to handle the pain
No one could've made it through all that
Without going insane

Oh Mama...
How did you carry us on your back
As bomb carriers filled the sky
Shielding us from disaster
As the innocent ones die

Oh Mama...
How did you manage to survive all them wars
All those children that died
Five of them yours

Oh Mama...
How did you leave your life behind
To start over in a new country
Away from your own kind

Oh Mama...
How did you keep love in your heart
When life was at its worst
And regardless of what happened
You always put us first

Oh Mama...
How did you get past the ignorant ones
The ones who were blind to your scars
The ones who couldn't see
That you've made it so far

Oh Mama...*
How will I ever repay you
It would take nine lifetimes
To simply say "Thank You".
Thank You isn't even enough for all that you have sacrificed for us. For your family. I love you Mama.

They say "home is where the heart is"
Does that make me heartless...
Sometimes we find home in the most unexpected places, and not until we've moved on do we realize it...

Masked Beauty.

She prepares her kit
To turn into someone else
She's done this for years
Not knowing how to be herself

She smears her lips
With a bright bold Mac
Drawing an artificial smile
Hoping she wont crack

She grabs her eyeliner
And traces her eyes
As strokes of mascara
Send lashes toward the sky

She dips herself in powder
And draws two circles for blush
She irons her natural hair
With every bristle and brush

With this new mask on
She could now face the world
Yet I still wonder
Will I ever meet the real side of this girl?
Simplicity is beauty.

My Other Half.

Zay
Wrapped in a corset
Made from society
Unable to be free
Suppressing my identity

I mask my personality
With everyone else
But it is only around you
That I can be myself

Who else will I unravel to
At the end of the day?
For only you,
Actually listen to what I say

And only you
Judge me not
With your bold presence
Marking each room
With your personal essence

I follow your every move
With great admiration
You give hope to the quiet ones
With courageous inspiration

And where would I be
If God had not gifted you to me?
And how would I survive
Without you in my life?

Sometimes I swear
You're the older one
With wisdom so deep
You were born to stun

Taking no for an answer
Is not an option for you
And you stand your ground
Regardless of what they do

So I'll sit back and aspire
To be as rooted as you
With you alongside me
This world will make do
Dedicated to my sister and best friend in the whole world. My other half. Love you always, Sarah.
