Masks

What's behind your mask?

Are you as broken as I am?

What's behind your mask?

Is the darkness inside you?

What's behind your mask?

Are you as hollow as I am?

What's behind your mask?

Is the pain held inside you?

What's behind your mask?

Are you afraid of it?

Yes...I am

It's like getting suffocated.
Hands around your neck,
squeezing harder,
and harder.
Yet it's not hands.
It's words.
Words you say.
Things you call me,
either straight to my face,
or behind my back.
Those are the words,
that suffocate.

you do not have to be alone,
if you want, i can be your home.
i know i'm far away,
but hopefully we'll be together one day.
you can call me when you need me,
you can scream or cry, whatever it may be.
you don't have to put on a mask,
if you need to talk, just ask.
i am here for you.

I asked myself
what is your biggest fear?
I heard myself reply
my biggest fear is
to be deeply known
but not loved deeply

Tear at my flesh
you still can never
reach my soul

Daring and Willfull
trying to get in
despite the pain

Knuckles bruised
not once giving up
wanting to reach there

For you see
you can't hurt me
I'm blessed in this flesh

Reincarnation
built this fence
around me

Sadly you will lose
as , I stand here
looking into your hell

Seeing what once a human
now all , I see is
the sad sad
weaker of you

I live in spite of you
and you will never
reach what's
mine
my soul is human

Eyes look into the mirror
Expecting to see truth
But only emptiness is reveled

Words whispered into the night
Echo back screaming
In desperation to be heard

Arms reach out for comfort
Expecting to hold
But only the nothingness
Returns their embrace

A breath of hope
Escapes trembling lips
But is heard as a sigh
Of loneliness and despair

A dream ready to be lived
But from the nightmare
A tortured soul
Will never wake

You came into my life
like a hunter
an his rifle.

You held me in your arms
and when I tried to run you
made me fight and
even when you knew I was right
you’d make sure I’d lose.

But I’ll swear on your bible
that next time you’re standing
on my porch in the pouring rain
I’ll scream at you -

“Don’t you dare
try and paint me black
when I
used to be pure gold.”

Cannot sleep, all these memories are haunting me; purple and blue, a gift from you.
Will they stay? When will they fade?
To die like the happiness that seems to have left me, oh so heavy.
Take this heart, stomp out all the little pieces you created, all the pieces that you hated.
Hide my face away from the hidden, show me only to the blind.
Trust is not something that is easily given, especially from this heart of mine.
Lying on the ground, where you struck me down; battered, betrayed, I pray for the day.
Someone save me, for I am too shattered to do so myself, someone save me from this life that is my hell.
Help.
I wrote this piece 6 years ago today.
