have you ever wondered
why   am   i   always
f  a  s  c  i  n  a  t  e  d
with the phenomena
of     a    red and rare
l u n a r   e c l i p s e?

with every time we meet,
i turn red;
but with every time we part,
i don't turn blue.

rare doesn't mean
"once in a lifetime."
it only means that
you'll always return,
no matter how long it takes.

and i believe that
someday
for sure
again:
*i'll see you.
aren't we all fascinated with the things, events, and people which come rare?
it makes us cherish them well.

What if dying isn't death

If when we leave this world…

The weight of it is simply off our chest

When we take that final breath

We live the most memorable of moments all over again

But this time…

We’re at our best

What if only the best of memories replay

All the sadness,

The shame,

The madness

The blame and the anguish…

What if they’re cast away

What if it's like waking up to not just another day

If only the happiness is the feeling that stays

What if…

Death is truly the end of all pain

If love is all we retain

What if…

The night sky…

And all the stars from above

Is all that remains

But...

I’m wondering about those stars

They too some day die

So…

What if we’re like stars…

We only shine bright when alive

Just a small light in a vast world that one day burns out…

What if the weight of the world’s what living life’s all about

All the people,

The places,

The sorrow and joyous filled faces…

Each of our books of life and their;

Some better,

Some worse but…

Still lively filled pages…

Are what leaves those we leave behind with heartbreak and…

Sorrow filled grievance…

What if our memory is truly all that's left when we pass into the unknown

An empty bed in a place we once called our home

A place where in our old age we had grown…

What if our lasting legacy is only the moments in which we shared an experience

If...

The wisdom,

The kindness,

And the hard work filled progress…

Is all we leave behind

If we only leave what we project into those empty filled spaces

In our loved ones' hearts and loved ones' minds…

I wonder what I'll see when I'm staring up at the ceiling or sky…

Somewhere down the line…

Life hanging by a thread

Watching the story of my life as it flashes by...

Will there be regrets,

Goals never met,

Things never said,

Thoughts trapped in my head…

Or...

Will I be able to say

I did all that I could

Willing to die without needing to lie…

T o  m y s e l f

What if…

The money we made

The status we gained

The list of the people we blame

For the shame on our name…

If none of that ever really matters when our…

Book of life comes to an end…

What if

It was only ever about the mark on everyone's hearts we ingrained

If like stars we burn out but…

Just burn out much faster

The difference for us is…

No tomorrow can be guaranteed

If...

This life…

Was the only book you could write

If tomorrow was your final chapter…

Can you say your book of life was the best it could be

Like only the greatest of books

When they end...

They leave the world with sadness and grief

With…

Wonderment and pure disbelief

If your life was the best it could be

Can you close your eyes

Fall into that endless sleep

Feel your heart's final beat

Come to a close as you cease to breath

And go satisfied…

what you need from me
is what I want from you
lost without each other
so I need to be close to you
missing you so bad
cause you love me so good
nothing stays the same
imagine life if it would
how could something that burns so bad
make you feel so **** good
love without pain
is like water without rain
if you had one without the other
they just wouldn't be the same

I kiss him and it’s the first time that it doesn’t feel like I am watching my body from the other side of the room.

Watching my body be submissive

I kiss him and my body takes and wants and is

and is

and will be

i’m sitting on a park bench having a cigarette with my best friend and i don’t know i’m in love with him yet

i’m consoling my best friend as he tells me about The Girl who broke his heart and my body nods in understanding, but I don’t know why yet

it’s four am and I just want to sleep but you’re in a different timezone and you’re drunk and you wont stop texting me and it’s four am and I don’t want to sleep

it’s December and you just got back and we’re sitting at your kitchen table and our eyes are glistening and you’re telling me about your childhood but then your hand is on my thigh and you’re telling me about the Red light District and how I make you feel dangerous

And we’re laughing about that time we were so drunk we almost kissed and we’re laughing a little too much and then your mouth is on my mouth and it’s two months later and i’m crying in your car and you’re standing a calculated distance away from me and your hands are in your pockets and my hands are in your pockets and I go home biting my lip

and i go home and i am watching my body from the other side of the room

depression

depression is like sadness

but never goes away

sadness is where your sad for a day and the next your happy

depression is where it never goes away every day you get worse in worse

deeper into the dark tunnel of depression

the further you get the worse the depression gets

then anxiety comes along

is the bestfriend of depression

they make you feel broken.numb.scared

they fill your head of things that you need to worry about

depression makes you feel like your selfish

''like yea i know i have a good life, good family, food on the table, roof over my head''

i know i shouldn't be depressed but for some reason i can't bring myself to be happy

and people have it worse out there in the world

and im over here having all i could want in the world but happiness

i feel so **** selfish because if that

i don't want this life anymore

i hate it

i hate me

i hate society

i hate depression

I am a happy person
Or at least that's how I seem
I always have a smile
I live a perfect dream

I never am unhappy,
Or hurt or sad or blue
I'm just a happy person
Oh, if you only knew

If you knew how I sit
Forgotten and alone
And watch the world take all
The things I've ever known

I struggle with my faith
I struggle with the Lamb
I struggle with the very kind
Of person that I am

Regardless of all that
My facade remains true
That I'm a happy person
A person just like you

I have put you in a box in the back of my wardrobe.

You live there, safe and sound next to old hats and sweaters.
Sometimes I see your box and I run my hands across the bulging sides but never do I open in it for fear that you might escape. I tell myself that you are safer there, imprisoned inside that box. After all, if I don’t have to see you I don’t have to miss you, right?

I say these lies over and over again until I believe them because the truth is a pill too bitter for me to swallow, and I’ve swallowed a lot of pills in my life.

The truth is, not all of you fits in the box in my wardrobe. Hell, I don’t think you could fit in a thousand bulging boxes - you were always so big.

See, the rest of you resides in the back of my mind, taking up my every thought, everything thing reminds me of you and it’s getting to the point where I can see nothing else but your face.
Even though I tell myself I don’t miss you, we both know that is not true because I used to miss you when we were apart for mere moments so how could I possibly not miss you when it’s been days and weeks and months and years and it just doesn’t make any sense…

It doesn’t make any sense that I have to lock you away because we were supposed to be together forever.
Our future was matching houses right next door to each other, our children running back and forth, never asking if they could come in because the answer would always be yes. We would car pool to soccer games, school plays, dance class and graduations, not because we needed to, but because the thought of doing these things without the other made us sick to our stomachs. And when our kids were all gone we’d retire together- two old women in rocking chairs staring out at the shore, laughing and crying about all the life we had lived. This future wasn’t a dream, it was a distant reality – we were so sure of that. Do you remember when we were so sure?

I can’t seem to forget a single second of you, even the ones that burn holes in my chest and make me hate every ounce of myself.

I remember, so well, when I knew you like I knew the back of my hand – Actually, scratch that, I knew you better then I knew the back of my hand because when I was with you I never had the chance to look down.

Every line on your face, every crease in your fingers was more familiar to me than my own heartbeat, you knew me the exact same way.

I remember when, at the end of a long day, all I wanted to do was retire next to you because that’s where I was safest, the world couldn’t touch me, I was home.
You were my home.

You still are.

I think that’s why, as hard as I try I can never feel comfortable. I can never rest. Because I haven’t felt home since that day four years ago when we walked away.

You cannot be my home anymore.

See, just recently I have found a new home. It is a place that grants me invincibility- I dive off of cliffs into shallow water and jump out of airplanes without parachutes yet I’m just fine. The only catch is that I cannot take you with me.

So, I’ve set fire to the box in the back of my wardrobe, and as it is burning I am finally learning how to live without you.
But do not fear, even when the box is nothing but ashes that are scattered at opposite ends of the earth I will still remember the days in which I believed that the entire world was made up of just you and I.

And when I am an old woman in a rocking chair staring out at the shore, I will certainly be thinking about you.

I guess it's
Been four years now
She turned up here homeless
She was old
Even then
Those used teats
The grey on her jowl
Lonely. So loving.
She's followed me
Like my shadow
Ever since
And don't believe
A dog can't smile
In my absences
She'll sit by the door
Until I come back
I'm 60 now.
Just had a birthday.
And this black Labrador
Beauty gave me the honor
Of crawling up next
To me as I went to sleep
She rarely has done before.
And it made me wonder
How I want to die before her
I don't think I could stand
Losing her
But thought
Of what would happen
To her
If I went before
And this isn't poetry
It's a love story
About two lonely orphans
Who found someone
Who loves them more
Than life itself
And how
Much love
Can mean

If your sky is grey
let me paint it blue,
if you need love
I’ll love you.

If your heart is broken
I’ll wrap you in my wings,
I’ll sing a sweet song
reassurance it will bring.

If you need a friend
I’m always there,
I’ll pick the stars
and place them in your hair.

When you feel alone
don’t be afraid to call,
for I’ll always catch you
if you stumble and fall.

If you’re sad and blue
just remember,
I’m your friend
I’ll always love you!
