How painful it must be,
to not have the rest of someone.
All the secret spaces,
that do not welcome you

The words that go unspoken actually make the most noise.

Don't be so quick to give your heart to anyone.
                                     *You're giving them a loaded gun.

I like the way your name sounds,
Rolling off my tongue,
But mostly I'm in love,
With the way you say **mine

When there are no cards left to play,
We start a new game.
There's never a winner,
Just two broken hearts and
Smiles that don't crinkle the eyes.
Do you remember when I buried my face in the plaid cotton of your shirtsleeve and cried,
'What do you want from me?'
'Everything,' you whispered into my mouth,
Your voice muffled as if we were breathing underwater,
Though we were both unprepared to drown.
Darling, if only we'd realized that when you took it all,
There'd be nothing left for me.
Try if I will,
Try if I might.
No matter how far I venture,
Theres no end in sight.
~
Try if I will,
Try if I might.
Theres nothing left in me,
With in which I can fight.
~
Try if I will,
Try if I might.
Wish there was someone here,
To save me from the fading light.
~
Try if I will,
Try if I might.
No matter how loud I scream,
*Theres no one to hear my plight.
When will our hell end...

"This
is a familiar scene for me;
You,
with your eyes on the road,
and myself,
watching the sights
as we pass them by.
There
are so many things
that I
want to ask of you,
so many questions
to be answered,
and yet,
there is a quiet
between us,
that which we also share;
the familiar sound
of silence;
the sound
of all the things
you didn’t say.”

Do you remember my wool sweater:
How the fibers used to catch on your wristwatch
And tangle themselves in the buttons on your checkered shirt?
Those loose threads said what I was too afraid to—
Don't let go;
Stay just a little longer.
Fiber after fiber, they unraveled,
Until that old wool sweater was tattered and frayed and scattered—
Softly curled strings on shirt edges and neckties,
A memory begging not to be forgotten.
Even after all this time,
I'd bet you still find specks of red on your pillowcases
Or on your jacket as you ride the bus to work.
I hope you do.
