dear friend,
trying to participate
falling and failing epically
perks of being seemingly invisible
to the only one you see

don't want to wake up on your own
so you accept the love you think you deserve
put them first and now you know
this is how a wallflower grows

your friends they see it, live it, breathe it
smokey parties and poorly lit rooms
synthetic happiness, the only way to get by
fragile hopes and dreams

you know everyone and no one
watching their daily lives happen
but nobody stops it takes a second look
at your wilting petals and falling leaves

below average, psychos together
"welcome to the island of misfit toys"
somehow a place of belonging
and now in this moment, you feel infinite

love always,
Based on the book and movie

They see things, they keep quiet about them and they understand

There is a difference  between seeing and looking
one small difference that destroys a bridge

Some people only see what they want to see,
other people can see the negatives,

Others can’t see at all and are forced to look,
see the truth

That crack in the corner of a perfect picture
or that flash of a smile that disappears as fast as it appeared

We have a special way to see things,
people find it hard to see through our lenses

We don’t have a say in what we want to see
but we do have a say  in how we see things
this is just something to relate to , if people can relate
There she sat upon the wall.
Longing for springtime to come,
she wished to blossom into a beautiful bud,
Although, beautiful was not expected to come about.
Nevertheless, she was to bloom,
into a wallflower-
a flourish that was shunned by the most prized beings-
she desired to cut the vines from which she sprouted,
to be erased from the lineage of her loved ones.
She yearned to fall among the soil and the pasture,
to be trampled on by the glorious.
Because at least there,
lying in the fallow,
she would’ve been touched by the legendary.

Mistaken for a garland
adorning the walls
always being shunned
ignoring eyeballs
stunned when noticed
must not be solaced

I am a wall flower all on my own
I am much stronger when I am alone
Pity me not, for I am at peace
Alone in serenity I am at ease

With her back against the wall she watched
as all the other girls danced under the stars.
"Not all are meant to shine, my dear." Someone whispered in her ear.
"Some people are meant to watch others spark and come alive,
and wish that they too had the courage to step unto the light."

I saw her from a distance
observing quietly
unassuming and innocent.
Not a sound or
even a verbal cue.
A shadow amongst others
fading in the background
quiet and still.
All seeing, all knowing,
yet not seen or known.
She savored solitude, seclusion.
Gazing over, eyes lock.
A prompt stare at her feet.
Slyly, strategically, stealthily,
I make my move
through the mass,
an over populated room
of senseless chatter.
Drawing nearer to the
lovely, lone, lady leaning
against the brick wall,
the ways finally part.
Much to my chagrin,
she’s vanished without
even a faint whisper.
Until we meet again.

In a world filled with,
Boisterous lads,
Vivacious girls,
Who would see our lonesome wallflower?

In a world filled with,
Discrimination, anger and carnage,
And people who are so savage,
Who would see the kindness,
Who would see the sweetness,
Of our lonesome wallflower?

In a world filled with,
Superficiality, selfishness and disdain,
Where soon humanity shall not remain,
Who would see our lonesome wallflower?

People see what's outside,
To them, exterior is what matters;
Nobody can see the substance inside,
Of our lovely, lonesome wallflower!
Just let me fade into the background.
Allow me to sink into the wall like a wallflower.
This is the kind of invisibility I crave sometimes.

But we all know great things hardly ever come from staying in our comfort zones and it's impossible to always be alone.

So I think I can be confident enough now.
I can't keep holding on to doubt.
Go ahead, watch me as I step out.
