As I lay in the grass
Tall and short
Wispy blades
Shuddering in the wind
Waving back and forth
Some blades
Bent and folded
Where I lay on top
Eventually if I ever get up
Those bent blades
Will make a silhouette of me
At least until
They get their strength back

But that might not happen
Because as I lay there
In the summery green
I can feel the rays of the sun
Warm and comforting
They seep through my skin
Swirling and swimming
Slowly melting me
Like a pretty little creamsicle
That was left in the sun
Melting until
The orange and white
Meld together
To create something beautiful

I am like that
As I lay here in the sun
Melting, mixing and swirling
The vibrant colors of who I am
Rare are the spots of black
But mixed in
With the rainbow of my soul
It creates a calming picture
Filling in my form in the grass
Showing the hard and good
Of someone
The hard and good
That make us so beautiful

Then the colors
Start seeping into the ground
After only a few minutes
The blades of grass stand
You could hardly tell I was there
Until
I come back the next week
To my favorite spot
Underneath the tall willowy tree
Its leaves swaying
But before I sit down
I look to the other side
And see mounds of flowers
That hadn’t been there before
I climb the tree to look down
And see
The flowers creating a beautiful girl
Basking in the sunlight
Created by pure and simple
Happiness.

summer stubs out
its **** ember end,

out it goes in
an ember glow,

grey-blankets
wrap the skies,

and a tree attires
itself in new clothes...

A flame in the ominous dusk
Smoke rising, exhaled from forest green
Cinders flicker in the silhouette of the Oak
The wise Arbor God of this sacred plane

Inhaltion of softer days invoke peace
Contrasting violently to this portrait
A work of art, painted in wild hues of red
Ingrained roots swallowed in a blaze

This pen
This ink
Leaves paper trails
Ready to ignite
Eyes aflame
Words written in combustion
Fadinginto the wind as ash
Intangible

Two trees shadows duel
crossing dark blades
on the stone and brick courthouse
each demanding dominance
not knowing their shadow's growing
shows two becoming one
spirits made to become
soulmates under the sun.

Like a lone tree standing on the ledge
Roots desperately grabbing on to the rocky soil
Time slips slowly by
One gain of sand at a time
It's roots are losing it's grip
And off the cliff it's starting to go
It's such a painful processes to watch
Please avert your eyes before the final pop
Of that last root giving way
At lest it could be said it held on as long as it could

My limbs wrested, and extended, towards the heavens
like young children’s hands on the first sunlit days of spring.
The muted grays of winter fade, soon replaced by softer blues.
I still remember the first time I caught wind of you,
your back against my trunk and it lent me your lungs.
I learned to breathe like you too,
in shy and quiet silences while trying not to shake-
the world
but darling you came into mine, trembling fault lines
like an earthquake reading poetry and upended my roots.
I was seduced by you and there was nothing you did,
or could do that would untie this bind we shared
our bodies intertwined, ancient wood and woman
tethered together by the invisible pleasure
of one another’s company.
You spoke to me with feathers
and kissed me with subtle gestures
while I shade you from the sun.
I had never known such a word
but on that summer I called it love
and I believed it to be true
until the day you did not come.
The earth and soil from which I sow
has slowly grown into a prison atop this grassy knoll.
I have become a tree with the memories of a man.

tell me you worship
the watercolor painting
of a blended sun and moon
within my deepest heart

and I promise to make a life;
a dancing trees and owls
a raining stars
a soothing waterfalls

out of the ghost
you've been carrying
inside your flesh
and tired bones

Jett's a monkey boy, small and strong,

He swings through the trees like King Kong.

After a day climbing in the tree

When he comes down, what does he want to be?
hello again Apr 2016
Trees grow big and strong
they make the air clean for us
they're providers of shade when the sun is high
they let children play on their branches
a safe place
they become new in the fall
yet they stay the same.
Trees are beautiful things
When the ego finds its way into control,
Remember how a tree lives as it grows.
With beauty in its stillness, strength and soul,
We see how nature finds a way to over-throw
The concepts of the mind we blindly trust.
When searching for our inner peace we must
Remember just how we are nature too;
Just like the tree cannot forget to grow,
We can’t forget to breathe while life flows through.
